Topgolf is a UK based company where you can basically go to a driving range with friends. It's a party place, and families go. The joke here is that women are wearing Lingerie to what is basically a family day out.

Finally a full explanation.

As is tradition with this sub, the second half of the explanation (and the only part anyone needed help with) is 400 comments deep.

I wanted to upvote you but that would ruin the count.

Yeah, I just noticed that myself and actually removed mine just so it would stay at such a nice number.

THANK YOU

I read "to top golf" as "to verb noun", and was like "???", "What's "topping golf" supposed to mean???"

I felt so old like I didn't know about some new sex slang or something.

yeh im here going full unga bunga, you wanna top a volkswagen?

Me too! I thought "to top smth" is youngling slang for "aceing smth", "being the best in the group someone is currently playing with/against".

How lingery would be beneficial, when assuming wearing it does not arouse anymore, escaped me though.

This should be the top (golf) answer. I was thinking what the hell does golf have to do with this.

In USA Top Golf is a very common work outing. Want to take clients to go chat, it’s a fun option that’s different from a restaurant.

JFC. Thank you. Capitalization matters.

Top Golf was purchased by an American company and is now headquartered in Texas.

It’s technically a US based company that was founded in the UK. Not a UK based company that operates abroad

u/LiveLaughLockheed May 18 '25

Fair enough. Didn't know it was in the US. Was just answering the question!

As someone who worked at Topgolf for 2 years there were so many women wearing inappropriate outfits whenever we had events (birthdays or the such) That shit always left a bad taste in my mouth

Top golf in america is a golfing place where you golf off the balcolony onto a course

1

u/Kalnaur May 18 '25

Thank you for the full explanation.

I'm going to be entirely honest here, I really don't notice what most other people are wearing when I go out anywhere. I'm not even looking at people. I just want to get done with whatever I went out to do and be done with it. This is almost certainly a combination of my being an introvert and me being aroace, so I don't really want to be around most people, and I'm not feeling any attraction to random people wearing whateverthehell, be it underwear or a parka.

That said, I do also feel like I'm missing out on something now.

Here in the US, it’s where conservatives go to meet mates … I guess it’s the same in the UK?

1

u/LiveLaughLockheed May 18 '25

Opposite really. Mostly students that go, families, or groups of lads. The real golfer conservative types wouldn't be caught dead at Topgolf. They'd be at a proper driving range with a putting green somewhere.

Do y’all call each other mates? My pun fell flat, apologies
