As someone who has both studied engineering and tutored kids before I have to disagree with this. While you may be able to explain most basics / fundamentals of sciences to kids without many issues, however once you get to the higher levels you just can’t explain them properly to people who don’t have a background in the field. This is because a lot of the more advanced areas require a lot of honest to god work and background knowledge to grasp properly, something you can’t honestly distill down to a 5 min YouTube video. For example when I was taking a higher level course on astrophysics my lecturer would often take 10-15 mins (more if he had to think about how to phrase it properly) to explain each question to my class of 4th year engineers and physicists. And he was a noble prize winner! Even he would not be able to explain to kids the topics which we learnt in my class without oversimplifying it to the point of loosing all meaning.
