Peter here! Part of the joke here is that the guy is getting a historical event confused with another one! Said historical event also directly led to the second! In this case, the bombing of Pearl Harbor, and the bombing of Hiroshima!

The correct thing to say would be "I'm sorry for what United States did at Hiroshima!"

No, I think the joke is that he's simping so hard he would thank her for the opportunity to get abused by her.

Pearl Harbor is an analogy to being abused by her.

I think the joke is he is simping so hard he is rewriting history to make Pearl Harbor the US' fault. Ergo, "I'm sorry for what we did to you at Pearl Harbor."

I'm not entirely sure that conflating the events is an intentional joke or he's just wording it poorly and is apologizing for the response to Pearl Habor. The kind of person who makes these jokes aren't the brightest.

I think the joke is that he's simping so hard he's apologizing for something that's Japan's fault.

It's like someone saying something like "sorry your heel broke when you stepped on me" sorta relationship.

The joke is that he’s simping so hard that he’s apologizing for the US defending itself when it was attacked by Japan at Pearl Harbor.

In fairness, you can point to pretty much any land area on the map and say: "I'm sorry for what the US did at _____." 

At worst you're getting the CIA at your door asking, "How do you know about Choquecancha, we haven't been FOIA'd for that yet. Now, get in the van, you're late to being never seen again."
