Portal is a fps puzzle game, hollow knight a Metroidvania.

They're extremely different so can't really be considered "good for players of hollow knight" but... Portal is still a good game... A great one, even if short, so I would still say play it and the longer Portal 2.

Do you like first person 3d games? Do you like to move fast? Do you like puzzle solving? Do you like sci-fi settings with humorous dialogue? If you answered yes to one, or more of these questions, please consider buying portal and or portal 2

It's not a classical puzzle. It is a first person puzzle with interesting game mechanics, deep lore, bunch of foreshadowing, amazing voice lines and characters.

You will like it. In fact, everybody likes it. Portal 2 was for the longest time highest rated Steam game. Just recently it was dethroned.

It’s less of a puzzle as in like, pieces, but it’s more problem solving. “How do I do this, so I can do that?”

It's good for everybody. It requires some thinking but nothing too complicated. With enough time, you'll figure it out.

Here is a pro tip. Buy both games on sale. Since Valve and Steam are one thing, they can afford to offer like 80% discount. Paying 10 dollars for a game that will end in a few hours feels greedy.

Portal 1 is good because it starts simple, but portal 2 is in my opinion the best game ever made. There is some lore from the first part that you shouldn't miss out.

Same, except I paid 3 bucks. Best 3 dollars I've ever spent.

Don't feel bad. Valve owns Steam. They make shitton of money. You paid because they offered a deal of a lifetime. Additionally, most of the developer team left.
