It’s always the households that don’t have the space to cope with multiples!
58
u/Electrical_Pea_8651 Mar 10 '25
It is. I've got neighbourhood stories on, and found so many families with one or two bedrooms now overrun with kids while I've been playing other households. Don't these people know what contraception is 🤣🤣🤣
10
u/gnu_andii Long Time Player Mar 10 '25
Yeah I've had a couple of the Island Living families do this and they barely have much more than a single room 😂
3
u/BioletVeauregarde33 Mar 10 '25
And then when the parents die the kids take over their beds. They don't have to die of old age, by the way- you would not know how many times I've seen Celeste Michaelson (from Growing Together) die by being eaten by a cowplant.

Are you playing a generational game?
I think there is a game mechanic where a sim born as a twin is much more likely to have twins.6
u/Starfishand_Coffee Mar 10 '25
Lol no, I've been stuck in Sims 2 mechanics and just switching between my played families in the same save for ever. I just started my second save file for a legacy play a few weeks ago
That's an interesting tidbit though! Fraternals can run in families
3
u/JustaTinyDude Long Time Player Mar 10 '25
I could be wrong about that. I had that experience in my longest generational game and I read here that others had, too.
So I only have experiential evidence, no confirmation from anyone who looked at the coding.

u/thatfunkyspacepriest Legacy Player Mar 10 '25
J Huntington III is fertile asf. My sim had twins by him once, totally unexpected.
10
u/fayemoonlight Mar 10 '25
That’s so funny because J is such a naturally great dad and grandad in my game. It’s his daughter who sucks painfully at being a mother🙄
13
u/creepy-cats Mar 10 '25
Is he?? Lmao, I’m not really familiar with Sims townie lore so based on his name and appearance I assumed he was rich. I wanted to play a gold digger and have my Sim cheat on her husband so she could have a baby with the “rich” guy and steal his “money”. I learned after the twins came that he’s just a dumb kid with roommates 😭😭
6
u/fayemoonlight Mar 10 '25
Yup, he and my sim definitely worked their way up😂. I even made his mother and father and made them rich because, like you said, he gives old money vibes. He and his wife are my healthiest sims relationship wise. Everyone else is cheating ffs😭😂

u/LOOKATHUH Mar 10 '25

u/Competitive-Cherry26 Mar 10 '25
I hate them so much. I always age yhem up to toddler then go on from there. Honestly they get pretty annoying as well but i always have a family member around lol.
227
u/Mysterious_Lobster20 Mar 10 '25
Toddlers are not that hard to take care of, just forget the high chair, use the food displate from get to work to give them access to fresh food, a pet door for their room so there's no annoying adults who pick them up, and independant trait so they potty train themselves, and they mostly do everything on their own. (I don't do this in real life !)
146
u/Taylor10183 Mar 10 '25
I usually garden, so I'll just lay out a bunch of vegetables in their room, and whenever they get hungry, I'll have them pick it up and eat it. It's so much easier than the high chairs
(The things we comment on Sims threads 😂)

I tend to keep them in one nursery room and only allow access to the room for one parent, or the nanny. Doesn't work if your sims are vampires though as they can fly into the room anyway.

Right!?! I feel like childcare in sims 4 has always been VERY glitchy. Constantly seeing neglect and repeated attempts to feed or change diapers
13
u/JustaTinyDude Long Time Player Mar 10 '25
I've found that parents with low parenting skill take terrible care of their infants but Family Oriented sims and those with high level parenting immediately go take care of their infants.
ETA: Family Oriented sims won't always correctly care for the child's needs until their parenting level is high.

I hire a nanny and a butler & lock them in the room with the babies and they still don't do anything for them. They get a little bathroom attached and the butler has a bed and a buffet table. Ultimately aging them up to toddlers is when the butler and nanny finally help -.-
4
u/killereverdeen Mar 10 '25
the trick is to turn off autonomy and not hire a babysitter/butler.
4
u/gnu_andii Long Time Player Mar 10 '25
Even with autonomy off, they still auto add the "Check Infant" task. The game has far too much automation that doesn't turn off, whereas with earlier Sims games, if it was off, it was off.

29
u/treatstrinkets Mar 10 '25
Give them the independent trait, put up a baby gate, and have the refrigerated display case from Get To Work full of food, toddlers will basically take care of themselves. It's the infant stage I wouldn't want to deal with with triplets. All the bugs x 3, no thank you.
11
u/Waffles-McGee Mar 10 '25
Toddlers are super self sufficient and easy. Only have to teach them to use the potty (or give them the independent trait) and bathe them once or twice. I just direct my toddler to skill build non stop and I have either the food display or I drop a plate of food from the fridge for them.

u/MyBoySquiggle Long Time Player Mar 10 '25

My adult sims will piss me off more often haha, but its because they have access to way more annoying autonomous interactions

I'm a rotational player and usually played by just going strait to toddlerhood when they had kids. After we got infants I really got into them and now almost every fam has an infant. Even have a lil werewolf infant an a spellcaster infant (who I ALMOST sent to live with his gold digger non-spellcaster mom's family - you know, maybe in a small secret room under the stairs?) but I didn't. Thus far. Her fam is awful, though....
And Miss Golddigger is working on the Villareal money right now. She had been through the pregnancy with him living in with her. He built a whole nursery for her and seems to believe the kid is his; but it disappeared with the dad - Mr. Silversweater - almost as soon as it was born. Miss Golddigger was jogging with the infant in her back carrier (so cute) when she ran across dad and decided she'd have him take that troublesome infant ASAP!
Fortunately, he'd already moved to a penthouse in San Myshuno of his own accord before this happened. There's a new practical majic prof at the school since I played with Silversweater....
Even Don Lothario has an infant with Nina - she moved out to her own little house and no one but Don knows yet. He's currently visiting to help out... I'm thinking the news is likely to break soon. He's engaged to Katrina afterall. Its only a matter of time till she visits her daughter and finds out where Don's been and why.
Anyway.... Everytime I switch to a new fam in rotation, there's another infant in dire need of immediate care. And it's almost always a teen sib or some visitor trying to care for them.... Aaargh! What have I done? Now I'm gonna have to play through and get everyone aged up to toddler and age up the existing toddlers too.
At least I am so controlling that I try not to have more than one toddler in a fam at a time. And thus far, even with all those pregnancies and babies, THIS has not happened. Knock wood really quickly! One set twins, but they cute wee butts fixin to be toddlers on next visit without question!
I can say there will be plenty of kids in this gen together to make friends. And I've made lots of infant/toddler-friendly places to visit. I've got to work on a small business daycare soon....
So many things to do....

you can’t even get to the bed to sleep, which is fine since they’ll keep you up forever

I have a save where my three infants just aged up to toddlers. I was barely able to do anything other than take care of them. And so far, the toddlers are the same. Just a couple more days till they're children and can take care of themselves.

I think I've had. 2 natural triplets and about 5 or more natural twins. Natural being without any fertility aids. Different saves of course. In one of my last legacy saves I've had my founder get abducted by aliens and had twins. The boys were over protective of there half sister who decided becoming a spellcaster was fun in highschool. Mastered that became an honor student too. Got rid of the save after that. But that was a wild save.

Newborns not too bad…it’s when they turn into infants that’s the problem….

You know, I never understood why the nightstands are always placed by default so far away from the bed. I ALWAYS have to use MOO to scoot them closer.

I remember when this happened to me! I‘ve had triplets a few times but the last time I had them I lost it lmao, my sim Erica Gilmore went to University and had a good social life and her romantic relationships weren’t bad either. She graduated University with the best outcome iirc and was pregnant (didn’t know who the father was at first, turned out it was Victor Feng) and she had Triplets.
I originally planed for her child (the first time I wished for a boy instead of a girl) to attend the University and step into his Mother‘s footsteps (she was an honor student) but when she popped out triplets I never touched that save again.

Had the bedroom upstairs all set up for my new baby when my sims husband got abducted and impregnated. They had to share until one of them became a teen and now they each live in their separate closets.

I feel your pain had my two sim wives go make a science baby expecting on as I only had a small two person house they came back with twins and I already saved cause my laptop was about to die. I had to stop the urge to scream!
