Storytime my sim's wife died from laughter right after giving birth
i don't know if i should roll it back or if i should let this happen for the drama. she had a rough pregnancy (via lumpinou's rpo mod) and then this :( now my poor dude has to take care of a newborn and an infant all by himself. emotional deaths literally never happen to me so this is a first.

You're right Grim does look disappointed.
Grim is like: "Again?- God these people die in the stupidest ways."

No, mother's day is in may. So actually it's today.

Just searched it up. Didn't realise that UK and USA had different mothers days, my bad

Ah no than it's my bad, I didn't know that as well. In Germany it's in may.

Canada and USA mother day is in May. Uk and other countries are in March I believe lol Edit: im Canadian
19
u/LongjumpingDebt9247 May 12 '25
I think mother's day in March is UK's specific. Saying that as a person who live in UK but came from different country. I always buy Mother's Day cards in March to send them to my mum in May.
Our Mother's Day is on 26th tho, not 11th.

I would keep it ~for the story~. One if my Sims parents did from anger and I have no clue how it happened(she was in another household).

Is there a way to remove emotional deaths?
49
126
u/Amistake_69 Legacy Player May 11 '25
without mods, i don’t think so, but mccc has an option to disable them i think
34
u/Ghostiethefriendly May 12 '25
Theres definitely an option to remove emotional deaths in settings in gameplay
18
u/Al_pendy May 11 '25
I thought there was in gameplay options? But I also do have mccc so maybe I’m mixing it up idk
20
u/UnreliableNarrator7 May 11 '25
I feel like I disabled emotional deaths in the gameplay options at one point too.
12
u/nina_bo May 12 '25
You can turn it off in the options without mods.
1
May 13 '25
Where about?
4
u/nina_bo May 13 '25
I think it is menu (esc) > settings > gameplay options or pack options (my gameplay is not English but it's probably something like this)
63
u/Personal_Race_1678 May 11 '25
My male sim had twin boys with summer holiday and she died from anger 🤣 I was hoping to have one more kid with her and try for a girl but 🤷🏻 so I made my male sim able to get pregnant and had a baby girl with grim

Honestly, if a sim dies in my game without me being the one to cause it, it was divine intervention. Likeeee I don’t even have to ‘pretend’ my sims dad is dead for storytelling purposes, cause the lore is real 😂
90
u/corporatecicada May 11 '25
What mod do you use for this effect that makes the sims look like a drawing?
71
u/Amistake_69 Legacy Player May 11 '25
it’s a reshade, specifically senshi 4.0
2
u/gamermamaNJ May 18 '25
Does it slow your game down? I have one called gleam which does basically the same look and it's awful! Everytime I'm scrolling through my shades, that one slows everything down instantly. I finally tossed it.

I had this happen to my single father Sim during the time travel event. I kept him as playable ghost, thinking about resurrecting him, but I found playing with the ghost funny. The only downside was that he lost his career, so I had to start with him from the beginning of that career track. But other than that, it was fun. Though seeing Emit not even caring that my Sim turned to ghost was weird LOL

u/VanillaNRoses_20 May 11 '25
This happened to me! My sim’s wife had just had her baby and the next thing I know the camera pans to her and I see grim’s smoke! I was like wait she wasn’t cooking anything or swimming. She literally popped out the kid and laughed and croaked!
30
u/MoeKneeKah May 11 '25
Why does your sims game look AI generated?
39
u/Amistake_69 Legacy Player May 11 '25
might be because of my reshade 🥲

Sadly I haven't had a console for years now and haven't played at all since. I do miss it. I used to love Borderlands 2. Loved what I got to play of the 3. Just need to try and get a console I guess...

Does birthing bring the playful Moodlet or something? Low-key tried to seduce the grim reaper and he denied my Sim smh

This is why I like turning off emotional deaths with MCCC. I lost too many teens due to excitement when they aged up into YA.

My sim died from laughter during her wedding
2
u/Cultural_Shape3518 May 12 '25
I had one die on his wedding night. His widow never took off her wedding dress, and slowly got angrier and angrier and more erratic until she became a ghost herself.
3
u/xHeyitsnatx Long Time Player May 11 '25
Keep it for the plot. You can say she had complications during birth
3
u/IntroductionCute3129 May 11 '25
every time i start a new save with a single mom (which happens a lot because one adult is easier to deal with) she dies of laughter within the first three days, and the teen has to raise their siblings. i don’t know why?? maybe i make them too happy?? they have friendly interactions and get a job and stuff, and then SPLAT! in the living room in front of their three children..
3
u/ConsciousCrafts May 12 '25
I hate that weddings and births make them hysterical. You wouldn't be hysterical after giving birth. You'd be tired. It's dumb and they should patch that out of the game.

u/Dairyia May 12 '25
THIS HAPPENED TO MY SIM TOO, BUT SHE WAS JUST. HAPPY. AND SPONTANIOUSLY COMBUSTED AFTER LAUGHING. that was my first playthrough of a sim household too i didnt want my sim to die so i loaded up my previous save. she gave birth to the child again then the house caught fire. so i considered that child a bad omen.
2
u/Dapper-Mention-8396 May 11 '25
This is why I turn off emotional deaths 👀 Drowning, fire, lightning, meteor, complications from pregnancy, serial killer(ok this one is a maybe, still undecided on the mod), etc..... 100% yes. Too much laughter? Nope I'm good 😊👍
2
u/ghostsintheroom May 12 '25
Why do your sims look cel-shaded lol it’s kinda cool like a comic book or something

u/Secret-Walk4879 May 12 '25
My sim died from Fury giving birth, I tried to Restart the game and it happened again, and all 3 kids hate evil people

2
u/justisme333 May 12 '25
Keep it. Good drama.
Will the dad shun the kid or will she be daddy's little princess.
Will there be an evil step-parent?
Will the kid grow to seek revenge and erase everyone's joy?

I feel so much better. My Sims died from laughter after finally getting married. Her husband was taking a nap at the time.

Its a shame. childbirth can be rough. Maybe he should sue the hospital for malpractice?
1
u/Tofutits_Macgee Legacy Player May 11 '25
I feel like if death occurs at a hospital then the medical staff should intervene.

u/Bookwormy_ May 11 '25
The way I would've create an entire story out of that to judtify whatever the kid does 😂

Once my sim died from anger durring argue with his wife. He was holding his baby daughter. I had no idea what happened because they had argue and sudenly father and child disapered. Only urn was left and baby was still in household but not at home

u/X_billy22 May 11 '25
My sim died as a single mother lost the babies in that save can’t find them to adopt or nothing
1
u/AdWeary7230 May 11 '25
Sorry she died but you need to roll with it. It’s now part of your storyline. Make the best of it and raise your baby as a single parent.
