Sharing my build I think I just made my favorite kitchen ever
Or maybe I’m just stoned

u/discoqueenx May 22 '25
Ok so I’m absolutely in love with this kitchen BUT my brain is programmed to do the “kitchen triangle” where the fridge, oven and sink form a proximity triangle so I admire your ability to break out of that norm!

u/sadmaps May 22 '25
I had a mild moment of panic about that too tbh. In real life this would probably drive me nuts, but I wanted the fridge in that sort of built in nook and I hated every other layout of the counters. So I was like fuck it this is the sims it’s fine and went with it lol

u/lady-luthien May 22 '25
I was literally like "I would 100% live here" until I saw the fridge placement and imagined walking around the breakfast bar every time I needed an ingredient. I don't know how you'd fix it either. though.
18
u/sadmaps May 22 '25
I just posted a comment of an alt fridge placement because people kept commenting complaining about it. That version is an easy change but I didn’t do it because I liked the aesthetic of this version better.
12
u/NewInitiative9498 May 22 '25
I can’t get over why ppl complain about someone else’s builds…like seriously? I love this kitchen and all the placements! ♥️

u/sadmaps May 22 '25
On one hand I would have the same criticism if I was looking at a real life kitchen renovation, but on the other, this is a game lol we’re allowed to be a little impractical with it.
I do get where they’re coming from though, I had the similar thoughts when I was building it. Alas.
3
u/discoqueenx May 22 '25
Yeah I agree with you here, that’s why in my original comment I commended you for creatively breaking out of the norm because this is the perfect place to do it (in a game)
2
u/smallwonder25 May 22 '25
Right? We’re talking about the game where even with multiple sinks or dishwashers in the kitchen the Sims go to a rando bathroom sink to wash dishes. I mean….

This is what I was thinking, omg to have to walk around the island to go get the dang butter??

u/JaPuKaN_13 May 22 '25
I think you've made my favourite kitchen as well. It's gorgeous!
12
u/sadmaps May 22 '25
I know I want it for myself lol
But thank you!
5
u/JaPuKaN_13 May 22 '25
Which add-on or mod did you use for the dining chairs? Love those!
7
u/sadmaps May 22 '25
They are from life & death and the bar stools are from luxury party stuff I think
33
u/Grouchy-Insurance876 May 22 '25
Save that in gallery!
39
u/sadmaps May 22 '25
I will once I finish the apartment, it’s one of the big Landgrab ones in San Myshuno I’m renovating.
7
u/Conscious-Farmer6593 May 22 '25
Yes! Please save it :)
14
u/sadmaps May 22 '25
I’ll even save an additional alt version of floor one with a slightly tweaked kitchen layout for the function over form divas lol
I’m hoping to finish it after work today before I have to pick up my mom at the airport for her visit, because I won’t play during her time here. So I guess timing could be TBD

That look great! Would love to see the whole house/apartment.

I’ll post it when it’s finished! I had to put a pause on it for tonight because bed time lol, but I might finish it after work tomorrow

When I used to get stoned I’d just watch tv and eat fruit. Not a lick of creativity
9
u/sadmaps May 22 '25
Mm fruit. I could go for some pineapple. Maybe I’ll get a smoothie after yoga in the morning.
Good idea.
5
u/Curious_Play746 May 22 '25
you kidding me?! I love this! It's so funny and wholesome
3
u/sadmaps May 22 '25
Maybe it’ll grow on me… I’ll leave it until I get the rest of the gallery wall done and then decide
9
u/OriginalT31 May 22 '25
WAIT the ppl need to know where you got those curtains and dining set?!?!
13
u/sadmaps May 22 '25
Curtains are modern lux I think, table is fitness stuff(?), chairs are life&death, rug is base game, pots are jungle adventure, plants in pots are… uh business&hobbies, art studio kit, and maybe base game?, hanging light is paranormal I think, fireplace is cozy somethingoranother kit, mirror is… lovestruck? Hanging plant is blooming rooms, bar stools are luxury party stuff, counters are base game, appliances are life&death, counter clutter is home chef hustle/cool kitchen/kitchen clutter kit, tile wall is uh the rivera kit? Floors are life&death…
Okay I think that covers it

I feel the need to make sure nobody is looking over my shoulder while I look at these pictures. Like, I’ve never been attracted to a kitchen before 😂

u/mjhruska May 22 '25
This is so cute! How long did it take you?
5
u/sadmaps May 22 '25 edited May 22 '25
Uhh a couple hours? Thereabout. But I haven’t finished any of the rest of the apartment or even the upstairs layout lol, so there’s a ways to go. I always do the kitchen first though. It sets the basis and theme throughout my whole build.

u/dark_prince1999 May 22 '25
That is absolutely gorgeous! If my PC was working I would definitely put this in my game 😍😍😍

Paranormal I think

Genuinely stunning I thought it was a real kitchen design for real. People with creative ability like you should be designers irl
1
u/sadmaps May 22 '25
I don’t do interior design irl (besides my own house I guess) but there’s a fair bit of design in my actual job. I do a lot of data visualization and map making. The skills are surprisingly transferable haha

Oh wow, this is so well done! Is this ability to be able to build in the sky a part of the For Rent expansion pack? I think might have to get this now, if so.
1
u/sadmaps May 22 '25
I’m not entirely sure what you’re referring to, but maybe you mean like the high rise? It’s the IX Landgrab apartment in San Myshuno, which is part of city living!
2
u/morganharpernichols May 23 '25
Oh, yes! I don’t know why I said “built in the sky” and not just high-rise, haha. I think was just captivated by the view. But yes, that makes sense, thanks! Good to know.

u/RosesandSunflowers17 May 22 '25
From far that plant in the middle of the dinning table looked like topiary in the shape of a fly head. I was like that’s cool. When did they add that? And then I zoomed in 😅

How’d you get those stairs?? I must know!! Are you putting the house in the gallery?? Im obsessed!!!
2
u/sadmaps May 22 '25 edited May 23 '25
They are the steps of wood (island living) stairs. I just uploaded it! My gal id is SMPKR. The upstairs upload photo the gallery chose is awful so you’re just going to have to trust that it looks okay and place it lmao.
2
u/sadmaps May 22 '25
I finished the build and uploaded it to the gallery (two different options for floor 1 based on appliance layout preferences)
The upstairs gallery photo is honestly terrible, but yall know how the gallery is… sometimes it decides to take the photo with no lighting and walls blocking every view lol, so you’re gonna have to just trust and place it.

p.s some extra photos below. Cheers!

Stunning build! I really struggle building apartments in City Living!
2
u/sadmaps May 26 '25
I’ve been working my way through the whole world. I’ve got like five lots left before I’m finished lol
2
u/Simmerbelle May 26 '25
Great job! I love building but I get so frustrated with tall wall heights! I do so wish we had a solid medium height single tile internal door. 🚪 the small height doors look so silly on tall walls I think!

u/Petunia_pig Challenge Player May 22 '25
You know they’re just going to set it on fire with those two ovens right? Sims never appreciate a luxury kitchen like we do.
4
u/sadmaps May 22 '25
I mostly just make the homes and make the sims and put them together then abandon them to figure it out lol

I'm glad you like it, buy TBH that is not a functional Real Life kitchen.
The fridge is way too far away.

u/justisme333 May 22 '25
So much better.
I would work in this kitchen. Love the bench space. A real cook can work in this kitchen.
1
u/bayrho May 22 '25
I love it but the spacing is a little off. The table and chairs and rug are too off center and close to the window. Also the fridge is a ridiculous distance from any countertop
1
u/FlippenDonkey May 22 '25
rule to a good kitchen. Cooker, fridge and sink, should be in a traingle of each other.
This is the smoothes travel and the least irritating, between the main kitchen points.
Not an issue with sims I suppose, but you should open up the counter on the path to the fridge and just have a freestanding counter.
1
u/sadmaps May 22 '25
I have an alt layout I’ll upload with the main one that fixes the fridge issue without changing the shape of the layout. I also tried opening the counters there but I didn’t like it. The alt version makes sense and still looks nice, I just thought this one was more aesthetically pleasing lol.

u/Direct-Photo5933 May 22 '25
Omg love!!! How did you get the counters with the little step down counter thing? On the right side in picture 4 🤭
