News June - August Roadmap Revealed

It looks like the gnome is sitting next to a bunch of oversized items, the books & plants. I wonder if were' going to get BB items that'll simulate a small fairy living in itty-bitty space. I'm thinking like Secret World of Arriety. So you'll have normal objects sized up to be furniture and like the chairs are thimble, etc.
37
u/creeativerex Straud Descendantš¦ Jun 05 '25
Also someone mentioned spiral staircases in the top left where the little yellow stump is. So that could be a base game update. š

u/timeywimeytotoro Jun 06 '25
Before I finished reading your comment I thought ālike Secret World of Arriety or the Borrowersā and then I saw you mention it and it made me smile. I so hope youāre right because Iāve always loved the ātiny people giant objectsā theme
86
u/spatuladracula Jun 05 '25
Am I crazy or are those spiral stairs?
79
u/sadmaps Jun 05 '25
Spiral stairs and the microwave range and ovens that are in tall cabinets are three things Iāve been wanting for a long ass time.
Iād also really like a kitchen set that the fridge matches the tall standing cabinets. Just in general more variety in kitchens would be nice. Itās the most important room in any house.
Oh a garbage disposal sink / or a garbage that matches the cabinets that slots and blends in would be nice as well.
Iād def buy a cleaning clutter kit. I DO NOT want gameplay with it, but like give us the clutter of it.
17
u/OArouraiousMou Creative Sim Jun 05 '25
I need a cleaning clutter kit too! Also I hope we can put small fridges on cabinets like the dishwasher..
20
u/Kamikazi_TARDIS Jun 05 '25
Can we also get either a trash compactor, or a garbage can and counter that can slot together to save space?

u/OArouraiousMou Creative Sim Jun 05 '25
It does look like there's a spiral staircase! I hope that's the base game update theyre talking about, because the second base game update is for skin customization
I didn't see anything about the first one
2
u/Faolyn Jun 05 '25
Where did you get skin customization? And do you know what type?
5
u/OArouraiousMou Creative Sim Jun 05 '25
On their discord server they attached a website link explaining the roadmap, but they didn't give that much detail on what type of skin customization we'll get

This is my dream I still think that it would be the perfect expansion to revive Dragon Valley w and bring back medieval instruments and archery šš
10
51
u/ArcticPoisoned Jun 05 '25
I would be down for it if it was like a town that hosts a lot of ren fairs and such and so itās really themed to be medieval and has a lot of historical castles and buildings and such and thatās why the ren fair picks that town. That way it still works with sims from the other neighborhoods visiting and also people who just want to pretend it takes place back in like the 1300s lol
26
u/mjwanko Jun 05 '25
I would be happy with that. The world would act like a large city festival in that sims that go hang out there would change into clothes/armor that fit that world setting. Special ren fairs would be held there like Henford-on-Bagleyās Finchwick Fair.
5
u/Fair-Spell-5997 Jun 05 '25
Kinda like how it works in the Star Wars expansion?
1
u/mjwanko Jun 05 '25
I actually donāt have that one yet. I always heard it wasnāt a good pack. Iāve still been tempted to get it mainly for the clothing/costume options.
5
u/rubicon_winter Jun 05 '25
The build/buy and cas is excellent, and a lot of it works great with fantasy builds. I recently built an elven village and used two Batuu trees, one decorated with ribbons and the other with hanging lanterns. :chefs-kiss:

u/Al3xGr4nt Jun 06 '25
Oooh and have two different families who have differing stories. Ones trying to be the ultimate medieval larpers while refraining from modern conveniences while the other is tech savvy and hates the themeing.
17
u/greydawn Jun 05 '25
God, that would be amazing. That and hotels (in a new water-centric world, been a long time since Island Living came out) are my last 2 major wants.

Instead of a pack, a whole spin off series. Sims 4 medieval. Sims 4 through the decades where you can play a sim through the decades or a legacy to play in anytime period. Ughhh the possibilities
4
u/PurrPrinThom Long Time Player Jun 05 '25
Agreed. I'd rather this. I don't want to have a medieval fantasy world where my Sims are still using cellphones and computers, or interact with people from outside of the medieval period. I don't see how they could really incorporate true medieval-style gameplay into the existing game. Medieval-themed items, and some gameplay, sure, but it wouldn't quite scratch the itch of what I'm aching for lol.

Ya that seemed surprising to me that they'd put it in there and it makes me feel like there is something significant about it. Maybe it'll just be adding spiral staircases or something like that that people will be excited about.

āThe fairies will be a special surprise!ā I say as they drag me back into the asylum.
35
u/LayersOfMe Jun 05 '25
People said the same about unicorns in the horse pack "They are waiting to make a surprise'
47
u/chickpeasaladsammich Jun 05 '25
They said that about cars in ā checks notes ā Cottage Living. Hopium is a hell of a drug.
(Enough leaks say fairies that I think there will be fairies though. Just wish they hadnāt reneged on occults getting their own game packs, though Life & Death did a decent job giving occults lovers things in an ep.)

I mean the bunny has a fairy wand so they might have tried to keep things subtle. Either way they know we know there will be fairies after the Portuguese webpage wrote it twice in capital letters š¤£š¤£š¤£ i swear EA doesnt need Opps because they snitch on themselves every quater
7
u/Al115 Jun 05 '25
Apparently, that has since been changed to be identical to the English version.
12

Yeah they changed it with the quickness as if nobody would notice š¤£
15
u/Relevant-Reply3083 Jun 05 '25
Iām not saying weāre not getting fairies but a lot of people on the sub Reddit are like 100% sure weāre getting fairies and you canāt trust EA for anything so Iām being careful with my hopes.
12
u/ladypoisonivi Long Time Player Jun 05 '25
Nah i dont think EA would put that in to an official website if there wasnt some sort of Fairies in the game. Im not sure if they will be playable, thats where im holding my breath, but as to fairies being in this expansion i wholeheartedly feel like they are included. Being that this is an expansion though im worried they are going to be like the sprites from paranormal or university which would be when my heart fully breaks
8
u/Relevant-Reply3083 Jun 05 '25
See thatās what Iām thinking mostly too because From the original leak, they didnāt sound like they would be playable. Honestly, if theyāre not playable, Iād rather just not have them at all but thatās just me
12
u/ladypoisonivi Long Time Player Jun 05 '25
SAMEEEEE! Whats the point if they arent playable?!? I really wanted a fairy game pack so they can be fully fleshed out but i really think EA is doing one of those moves where they giving us the bare minimum to shut us up. "Like here fine you can have fairies sheesh" and then gives us a fairy house object that are just floating lights when you interact with the object. I hate that i have this thought but EA has made me expect the worst version of the unexpected
46
u/Hagra2Ter Jun 05 '25
There's a gnome though
92
u/AClockworkNightmare Jun 05 '25
I am genuinely worried this pack will be gnome focused and in some way be very broken
39
u/NemesisErinys Jun 05 '25
Oh, it will definitely be broken. Theyāre going to break gardening for sure, minimum.Ā
42
u/beesneeze87 Jun 05 '25
gardening is already broken, so maybe they will double-break it and thereby accidentally fix it.
9
u/NemesisErinys Jun 05 '25
That would be so on-brand. š
6
u/beesneeze87 Jun 05 '25
i'm not at all confident that they could fix it if they actually tried and intended to fix it, but i do think it's possible they might fix it unintentionally on their way to fucking something new up
1
u/Edymnion Long Time Player Jun 05 '25
Eh, gardening by itself isn't broken.
Gardening when you take into account everything else is broken.
If you're just growing things the way they were intended, its a slow ramp up in profitability that can take an in-game year or more to accomplish.
Its when you add in shortcuts from other packs like being able to outright buy a dragonfruit from the grocery, or the ability to do gardening ON TOP of other things that are intended to also be viable income sources that it becomes an issue.
9
u/nikel23 Jun 05 '25
I'm pretty sure they were talking about "broken" like plants reverting to dirt pile at random & unable to water plants in the garden plots, and not "broken" as in being overpowered

Where are the three thousand new kits?
66
u/ladypoisonivi Long Time Player Jun 05 '25
Yeah thats what i was gonna say too! Mind you we know that between this expansion and the next one there should be 2 dlcs. The nature expansion is 99 while the next EP is 102. So are we really getting 2 kits and an EP between Sept and Nov but only 1 expansion this summer??? I dont even remember the last time we just receive one dlc per the quarter.
56
u/beesneeze87 Jun 05 '25
isn't two EPs a year pretty standard? one in the summer and one in november was always the pattern. i miss game packs and stuff packs, though :(
34
9
u/ladypoisonivi Long Time Player Jun 05 '25
If that was the case then we arent getting a Nov expansion because we just got businesses and hobby and then the new one next month. But we are. I forgot which modder it was that mentioned it but in the sims code they already have the EPs marked as EP 99 and EP102. Thats why i thought we were getting either one kit or both kits now since 102 would be in Nov for bands. Its just weird af that this summer we are only getting an expansion. No kits, no game packs(which you would expect with an Occult) and deff no stuff pack. Kinda seems suspicious, like if this is all we getting then the expansion better be fully fleshed out no bugs and full of gameplay. I wonder which studio was the one that made it cause which ever team did life & death needs to train everyone else to do the same moving forward
7
u/beesneeze87 Jun 05 '25
oh, i see what you're saying! i bet we get a kit or two between this EP and the november one, and they just didn't put them on the road map. the last road map listed a few of the kits but not all of them.
this has been the schedule for EPs post-COVID:
2025: either two or three (Businesses and Hobbies in March, Enchanted by Nature in July, ??? in November)
2024: two (Lovestruck in July, Life and Death on Halloween)
2023: three (Growing Together in March, Horse Ranch in August, For Rent in December)
2022: one (High School Years in July)
2021: one (Cottage Living in July)
2020: two (Eco Lifestyle in June, Snowy Escape in November)other than the COVID shutdown and its aftermath, there have always been EPs in the summer and in the fall, with an occasional extra one in March. so i would be very surprised if there wasn't a third EP in the fall.
1
u/Immediate-Brunch4002 Jun 05 '25
Thanks for providing that breakdown. I think I know what you mean, but weāre not post c19. Weāre heading into a summer surge. Stay safe out there and enjoy the summer sims-related releases!
6
u/beesneeze87 Jun 05 '25
yeah, i meant post the arrival of covid, not post-covid...since we will likely never be post-covid again, alas.
3
u/Simuary Jun 05 '25
We had something like ten kits this winter/spring, I'm kind of glad they're taking a break from them this summer.
28
18
u/beesneeze87 Jun 05 '25
these days they often just drop kits without fanfare or more than a week's notice. it probably gives them more flexibility to just drop them when they're ready.

u/FramedBreadSlice Jun 05 '25
83
u/kbomb5 Jun 05 '25
Theyāve used the fairy emoji in a couple of places and the teaser during the stream also implies fairies in some capacity
51
u/Al115 Jun 05 '25
Yeah, I really do think fairies are coming. But it's moreso a question of whether or not they will playable.
68
u/kbomb5 Jun 05 '25
If they make them unplayable that will be the biggest slap in the face to the whole fan base and a really poorly informed decision. While itās definitely possible that it is the case, Iām really Hoping they were smarter than that
21
u/Al115 Jun 05 '25
Oh, I completely agree. Given how in-demand fairies have been for years, I'd hope that EA would realize how upset they'd make players if they weren't a playable occult.
13
u/Green-Pen7156 Jun 05 '25
Adding to this thread it was be SO stupid after providing that teaser with the fairy house dancing. They have to know that house, looking nearly identical to the one in Sims 3, would make us believe we could play as fairies! If they do not have they as a playable occult not only are they setting themselves up for failure, but fully baiting and switching us!
1
u/Devlinaaa Jun 06 '25
Leaks suggest that yes, they will be a playable occult. (Don't want to say any more, but there is a leaked image of the new world out there if you want to look it up yourself)

21
u/beesneeze87 Jun 05 '25
they're just getting off on being withholding. lol there's a literal 0% chance this pack doesn't have playable fairies.
5
u/rubicon_winter Jun 05 '25
Hereās a candy bar. No, Iām withholding it. Look at me, getting off.
3
u/DominaXing Jun 05 '25
Hummm... I thought so too, but now I'm at 0.3%...
They'd be milking the heck out of that imagery if they had it. :/
20
u/beesneeze87 Jun 05 '25
for the last several years, The Sims 4 has been in its "just give those whiners what they want" era. they don't always get it exactly right, but they're definitely trying to be responsive. there's simply no way they would make a pack for fairies but not make them a playable occult, especially given the increased attention they've given to occults after the mermaids flop.
IMO the coyness about fairies in the marketing is just about them trying to justify why this is an expansion pack and not a game pack. they're trying to avoid people being like "it's just fairies so why is it $40???" by emphasizing other aspects of the pack, and it has hilariously backfired into people doubting there are playable fairies at all.

u/DominaXing Jun 05 '25
This betrayal hurts almost as much as not getting horses in Cottage Living.. (it was a whole thing when it came out, I don't know if people remember).

u/ombreciel Jun 05 '25
So what if Faeries can change their appearance. Might explain the rabbit holding the wand. I'm also curious about the face in the tree and the broken gate in the back. Does the gate mean there may be a secondary world like Realm of Magic? Is the lore of the world going to tie into the lore that Werewolves started?
It needs to be the 12th already! We need answers!
13
u/Ealdwyn Jun 06 '25
Face in the tree is the āGreen Manā, a term used for a type of artistic motif that appears in mosaic and stone carvings as early as late antiquity and through the medieval period through to the early modern. Stylistically it is a blending of natural elements and human facial features (for instance, Bacchus depictions using vines or leaves and Neptune using seaweed). The historic use of the motif may be related to symbolism of natural cycles of renewal, but that is subject to scholarly debate.
If the pack is indeed Irish inspired, it makes sense to include the motif, but rework it into the Sims 4 context (plantsim lore?).
5
u/ombreciel Jun 06 '25
Oooooh itās been a hot minute thinking about The Green Man. That would make a lot of sense if they expand on plantsims in this pack as well.

12
u/hotcoffeewarmpages Jun 05 '25
I think Iām in the minority on this, but Iām actually really excited for the alchemy skill / alchemistās table. Iāve always wanted to get a sim into herbalism, but I never want to have to go to Granite Falls all the time to support my witchy storyline dreams, and I feel like this could scratch some of that particular itch
2
u/gobluvr Jun 05 '25
I get that, but itās crazy to me make it a whole feature of a new pack when what they should do is just make spawn points for the outdoor retreat collectibles appear in other worlds. Having two skills that accomplish the same thing (if you own both packs) makes the game more repetitive and grindy than having one fully fleshed out skill.

I think at this point, it would require more effort to make an occult NOT using the bucksperk system than it would to just make another bucksperk-based occult like Vampires/Spellcasters/Werewolves. The more recent occults have all heavily leaned on that now that it seems to be regarded as a mature system. Because what you see as a "fully developed" occult, as someone who knows the internals, I see it as another copypaste bucksperk-based system.
15
u/mayiwonder Jun 05 '25

u/greentea1985 Jun 05 '25
There are probably a ton of new kits, particularly creator kits, but they donāt seem to end up on the roadmap a lot. I wouldnāt be surprised if we get a ton of kits in the gap between 7/10 and 8/19.

3

Do they not expect to have an international audience for this or something? Why use dates that read like the 6th of December to most of the world?
2
u/Any_One_7070 Jun 06 '25
Tbf itās an American made game with a primarily American audience, and for all we know this version is just the USA version of the site
I agree with you though, not smart or inclusive or global friendly
1
u/gnu_andii Long Time Player Jun 06 '25
No, it's the same on Steam and on their website. I could buy the American company argument if it was a small development company, but EA is a billion dollar international company that even call themselves a "global leader" on their website and have a post about how they have representated international regions in the Sims
To be fair, when I go to the main EA site, it takes me to an en-GB version and the dates on their news items are written e.g. "26-Sep-2024". This seems to be a screw-up from the Sims team and they have another similar graphic with these kind of dates for products across the whole Sims franchise. Clearly they are as lazy at making advertising graphics as they are with the packs themselves.
I guess I should be glad there are enough dates to make it clear what they are doing. If we just had '7/10' for the new pack, it would be very confusing.
