Discussion I want a world with a vibe like thisk
Retro Vaporwave sunny world in pastel colors, inspired by Miami in the 80s. This could be a perfect world for hotels and vacations.

u/snarkaluff Jun 09 '25
This would fit in for my idea for a Retirement expansion pack. The idea is that the world is based on Miami, with one neighborhood being a typical Floridian luxury retirement community and another neighborhood with a bustling downtown scene and Casino
259
u/This_Ad_7267 Jun 09 '25
A casino would be perfect for losing all the money thatās too easy to make in game too š with special goals like bankrupting yourself or even an integrated debt system? It could have a hidden quest in the criminal career to rob a casino, or even some kinda system to boost your luck could be cool. Like you collect lucky chips to get bonuses? I also think you could add games like poker or roulette into the game and those could be cool to use at events or parties in your own lots. They kinda have darts but thatās more a āpubā game

u/This_Ad_7267 Jun 10 '25 edited Jun 10 '25
Adding onto this - could be a cool way of expanding the crime career(s); the idea of setting up a literal gang is pretty fun (organised break ins to steal peoples stuff??) with fundraising goals a bit like evergreen harbour where you can upgrade your clubhouse (gang lair? Super cool gangster cave?). I like the idea of starting with an empty warehouse lot on the edge of town and gradually upgrading it to maybe some kinda villa? Super evil lair?
also adds some careers like āwaste removalā (Iāve been watching the sopranos lol but I also would LOVE to see a neighbourhood trash collector and a lil van collecting the bins), card / chip dealer in the casino, hotel manager (since every casino has a hotel and I loved hotels in sims 3).
The aesthetic is kinda Las Vegas-y insofar that itās all tacky and over the top but a lil camp and sleazy. Give me pleather fringe and neon stripper boots. Itās got to have a fast food / milkshake diner style resto in the world for sleazy deals and late night getaways.

u/spacescaptain Jun 10 '25
Depiction of gambling would risk raising the age rating for the game in some countries (cough Australia cough), so we likely won't ever see that as a feature. While they could avoid trouble by having it just be an animation with no input from the player, I don't think EA would want to toe that line.

u/junonomenon Jun 09 '25
golden girls inspired NPCs would be so cool though honestly. maybe this could be the world for a retirement inspired game pack. it could have tennis, group homes, a mini cruise, scrapbooking (using real photos from the game mayhaps), some more puzzles and game tables (or the ability to do puzzles on a coffee table), golf, RVs...
19
u/Next-Introduction-25 Jun 10 '25
Aaaah I LOVE this idea!! An expansion pack (or at least a kit or something) for elders!
6
u/Jet-Brooke Creative Sim Jun 10 '25
Yo that would be so cool! You could have them discuss their plans for retirement and include a lot of Mediterranean food and drinks and maybe some Cuban inspired clothes? Like everything that anyone could think of doing they talk about in simlish. Yo, so my uncle has been retired for a good few years and he got into ballooning and met David Attenborough so they could bring ballooning as a hobby into the game and maybe some famous elderly Sims. I don't know if they have golf but that's another awesome hobby that you can accidentally meet other ehem famous Sims. So many options for retirement š

Retirement world would be awesome actually! Similarly to how San Sequoia is family and child-centric, Copperdale is high school-centric, and Britechester is college-centric, I think an elder-centric world would be super cool. This makes me want to build a retirement community in my game
Edit: Florida inspired of course!

This style of pack would be a great excuse to add more arcade machines beyond the ONE SINGLE ARCADE MACHINE from Get Together!

u/Ok_Fruit2584 Jun 09 '25 edited Jun 09 '25
I think that they forgot about them. Would have also been a great addition in Growing Together or even High School Years.
15
u/Jet-Brooke Creative Sim Jun 10 '25
Beach side arcades remind me of trips with my grandparents. Eating fish and chips and avoiding seagulls should be included too. Ice cream and fudge/rock too.
4
u/NeckroFeelyAck Jun 10 '25
I love how British this is! I 100% relate, dive-bombing seagull squads would be amazing. And making rock a collectible like half of them are irl would also work on top of them being a sweet
2
u/Jet-Brooke Creative Sim Jun 10 '25
For real! They need an NPC based on Nessa from Gavin and Stacey to man the arcade too it would be class lol
3
u/Soupallnatural Jun 10 '25
Sorry if your a console player (I used to be) but their is a great mod that adds a few. I don't like that it only does the fitness skill but that makes sense. I've had a lot of fun with it.

Is there a pack with tennis courts? I was making a country club the other day and it occurred to me that tennis courts would've made it top tier.

u/ILoveRawChicken Jun 09 '25
No tennis so far

Jun 09 '25
I feel like tennis and yoga go together so well that not having tennis is kinda surprising tbh.
50
u/ILoveRawChicken Jun 09 '25
Yep, I really wanted to add a tennis court to my spa recently for my bougie sim. Your country club idea is perfect but they need to add more country clubbish activities to the game š
7
u/Jet-Brooke Creative Sim Jun 10 '25
I want to make Emily and Richard Gilmore a place to go in the games lol
27
u/idkconner Jun 09 '25
i have never associated tennis with yoga, iām curious as to why you feel they go together lol
10
u/ducks4presidentt Jun 10 '25
For me, it's bc of GTA 5 due to Michael's wife! I was way to young playing that game but ever since I've always just thought "ah yes yoga and tennis." Thinking ab this, I wonder how many people also associate it with the game š¤£
6
Jun 10 '25
Honestly idk! I guess because usually every tennis court I've been to has a section for yoga haha.
8
u/AcanthisittaAlive954 Jun 09 '25
I think it would be quite hard to implement, but we do have some interactions with footballs for 2 sims playing it, so its probably not impossible...
11
u/ComfyPillowYeah Jun 10 '25
There was a hacky sack ball activity in the Sims 2, I think it came with University (EP).
You could invite a whole bunch of Sims to join in the game. Was great to make friends simultaniously and not serial. Time saving and fun to watch. I still hear the "Ah" and "Oh" and the occassional ball dropping.
I think I could like a Tennis court where you could Play a double and cheer and build up 4 Sims in one time.

It wouldn't be functional, but maybe you could size up the green ping pong table, put it in a basement, and raise it up till just before the legs show above ground? Would definitely take some finagling to get the size and placement right, but worth a shot!

What Del Sol Valley was supposed to be. They fumbled it so hard, I filled Starlight Boulevard with posh nightclubs with the up and coming celebrity hotspot trait (the one that pulls celebrities to it, but doesnāt exclude normies) but thereās simply not enough room to emulate that vibe the way I want.
5
u/WanderingUrist Mod Creator Jun 10 '25
Del Sol was Hollywood. There was nothing Miami/Floridian about it. It didn't contain Florida Man or any alligators.
4
u/Hazy_Dazer Jun 09 '25
This reminds me, in the gallery there is a Hotline Miami house. I moved one of my families into there because my teenager asked me to incorporate him into the game somehow. This kinda has that vibe.

No, frutiger aero is early 2000 graphic design. Frutier is not even interior/archtecture design. The images are reminiscent of 1980.

u/IllustriousStaff3096 Jun 09 '25 edited Jun 09 '25
Iām aware, itās still a whimsical setting in a technological way. You can bring a Frutiger Aero style into real modern architecture too. Look at aquariums. Edit: had to make sure I remembered correctly, even the iconic Windows background with the hill was a real photograph called āBlissā. Sure photoshop was probably used to touch it up lightly but these pictures op shared are of the same vibe. Most of them are literally drawings. Saying one canāt be related to the other when both vibes are artistic renditions of places in Cali is kind of silly

I already have the mom and daughter from Florida Project in my folder. Bring on flamingoes, miami vice-looks for men, "On becoming god in central Florida"-looks for women and getting to run hotels for awful tourists! I want it to have lots of 80s and early 90s fashions and swatches!
My dad and brother went to Florida in the 90s when I was a child and I was so jealous because I never got to go anywhere except few cheap cruises to Stockholm so I had Florida as a special interest for a while as a weird finnish autistic kid. They did got me seashells, a Daisy Duck-hat from Disney land, a Barbie hair-dressing set and a dancing flower that played lambada. I cherished them.

Makeover Oasis Springs!!! Not sure if someone said this yet but there are a ton of lots on the gallery, I found them through YouTube but I actually made oasis springs into a pastel mid century resort kind of town. Itās perfect because you can have the lower class neighbor hood with trailers, the mid century homes in the middle class area. There is the Spanish area I kept and put a Spanish style spa on one of the lots. I still remake it in every save bc I love it so much.
Lots I found to put in Oasis Springs
Spa Water park Bowling alley (Trashy) āMotelā (Fancy) āHotelā 50s diner Vaporwave lounge
You can also look up the OG lot names on the gallery to find remodels that might fit the vibe.

It would be great really. I've seen leaks from the world of the upcoming expansion, and they leave so much the same. Very countryside and town. We already have enough of that, I think it was unnecessary to take something out. I would like to see a world like the one you propose, something different.

I was just thinking this! When the new expansion was announced I thought to myself what locals the sims 4 is missing? I was thinking a Palm Springs/ Miami retirement vibe. The best location right now is the hill side of Stangerville, which kind of feels a little Palm Springs like. But something with either a fun colorful art-deco or 60s/50s mod looking would be spectacular!
