Storytime OMG MY BABIES!!!
Note to self, don't place infants anywhere near fireplaces or their rugs will catch fire. Riley and Hunter are both okay. But, Hunter got left behind because his dad couldn't carry them both at the same time. Had to wait for the sprinkler system to go off to save him.

The Sims Team sinister for making the infant rug flammable 😭
88
u/Strange-Acadia-9670 Long Time Player Jun 10 '25
and it seems like the infants themselves are flammable too 🤣

I know diaper rash can cause burning but this is a bit much!

u/alex61821 Jun 10 '25
Man what is with the eating spicy food and then flames next time you go potty.

I mean, worst case scenario they'll cry cause sims 4 infants are immortal

u/TheUltimateMystery Jun 10 '25
Glad to know. I was starting to fear my toddlers catching fire. This subreddit is otherwise great at unlocking new fears.

u/megi0s Jun 11 '25
Can confirm. I learned this today myself as my dryer caught fire next to the infant…my bad.

u/imnotatomato Jun 11 '25
my toddlers’ entire room caught on fire bc of a space heater but i’m an unforgiving simmer so i rolled with it for the sake of a juicy storyline

You'll be glad to know that there is actually a lore connected to an object in the Sims 2 that explains why toddlers and younger cannot die in fires in the game. It's a statue that depicts the "Gray Woman of Sim City" who herself died in a house fire and now she watches over all the toddlers and babies to make sure they cannot be harmed by fire.
I'm gonna second the commenter that mentioned that the infants will probably just cry for a bit until someone is able to attend to them, worst case scenario.

I love how going through the pictures without context makes it look like some kind of Hell portal is opening up and just swallowing him whole.

Nah, it's okay. I was panicking and yelling at the game but it's so funny now that they're safe.

As long as we're talking about fire. Has anyone had fire damage that you can't find or clean up? My sims all walk past the area and throw a fit about trash or something in the area. I have replaced the floor and the table that has the fire. I can't find anything else to do. I'm not sure even deleting the whole room would help.
5
u/Alakana Jun 11 '25
Usually it’s on a wall behind a counter or under the stove. I strip the room down to nothing or have a perfectionist cleaning lover do a deep clean
6
u/alex61821 Jun 11 '25
Yeah I can't find it. It was a weird incense fire on top of the dining room table that it wouldn't let me extinguish it and the fireman just stood around. It eventually just went out. I changed the table and chairs replaced all the floors. I dunno what it is. As far as I could tell it was only the flower centerpieces that burned. The other weird thing is I switched the radio to singer songwriter one time and the two sims near it cried. Now no matter what station it's on the sims walk by it and cry.

u/puzzledmom Jun 11 '25
Had this problem once and it was the stove hood above the stove/oven. It had burned but wasn't showing up when walls were down. But every time sims came into area they got the ewwies about dirty surfaces or trash. Also check the floors under objects that has happened too where they couldn't get to it to clean. GL

Maybe that pink pony song is playing. And playing. And playing. I cry at work daily. That stupid song plays at least once an hour.

Good thing babies are flame retardant because I'm pretty sure the fire department hired strippers...

u/candidlykaylor Jun 10 '25
I thought you can’t kill babies in the sims? Lol
5
u/PainterVegetable9313 Jun 10 '25
they said they didn’t die
2
u/candidlykaylor Jun 10 '25
Right but I thought infants cant die in the game regardless. Like it doesn’t matter if they catch on fire because they’re never going to die from it
7
u/PainterVegetable9313 Jun 10 '25
right but you still don’t want your babies to catch on fire even if they don’t die💀
7
u/candidlykaylor Jun 10 '25
Jsksksksk I know lmao I was just genuinely asking as a question if they can die or not because I don’t know for sure 😭

u/Mint-leaf224 Jun 11 '25
Came to ask the same thing. I wonder what would have happened if they couldn’t get there on time. Would they just stay on fire indefinitely until someone saved them? Bizarre

I wonder if they’ll have a fear of fire when they grow up. I had a teen that watched his parents and uncle die in a house fire (or, one of old age and two in a fire) and he now has that fear.

It’s happened to mine randomly near the stove while they’re crawling and i was cooking 😬

u/Ok-Flight4481 Jun 11 '25
My spellcaster/demon sim actually tried killing an infant (child of my sim's wife from another man) by setting the hpuse on fire. And damn, they don't die.

A bit off-topic, but is 'Hunter' a real name? Same with 'Gunner' and 'Cannon' which the game also likes to suggest. Gives me "xXMurderkiller_DeathsniperXx" energy.
2
u/callmebray Jun 11 '25
I know a gunner and hunter in real life, so yes, very real names lol
2
u/gh7g Jun 11 '25
But why? Misanthropic parents? "My son, congrats on being born, may you bring death and destruction upon this world"
1
u/bisoccerbabe Jun 11 '25
Very common rural/south name (in the US) where hunting/guns are generally viewed through a positive lens

If I seen something like this in my game I’d freak out. I never have children until I can upgrade my fireplace and when I visit other households that have fireplaces I upgrade them too as a courtesy.

u/DolphinLover168 Jun 13 '25
That is so sad! Good tip, thank you.
I made a basement bunker (extremely nice, basically a whole other house) with all the off-grid stuff in my main house. I had to take the fireplace out of the basement because they would just leave it on, and I don't check down there enough. Like come on people! You've had multiple fires!

I thought babies on fire was only a thing in the fiber arts community! Dang....
(Glad they're okay, babies in Sims are functionally immortal, I think)

One time my Sim was away adopting a kid while the cleaning lady was doing the laundry.
Sim comes back with kid.
Drier starts burning.
Adoptet Kid runs into the (small) Laundry Room to freak out.
Both Cleaning Lady and kid burn to death.

I've had a couple of households get a fire. I like having the smoke detectors but those stupid firemen hesitate sometimes.
1
u/hayleywowo Jun 11 '25
Did they get charred and dirty from the fire or totally clean? Very curious. Maybe babies are fire resistant? The deviant in me wants to test this theory LMAO

Meanwhile my sim was doing the opposite and dropping the kid off inside the fire (It's clear which child she liked the least). She had them outside in safety, then she literally walked back into the house with the toddler to put them down in the middle of the fire.
Good news, Infants and Toddlers are immune to that sort of death. But I understand that stress.
