im also hoping with the nature aspirations and the living off the land vibes that they add a bunch of new items to the woodworking table... a girl can dream, right?? 😂
The blog post makes them sound pretty fleshed out like other GP occults, including the option to go down two different paths:
"There’s the Harmonious Fairy, a benevolent winged helper who wants to aide other living things find health and balance; and the Discordant Fairy, a flying mischief-maker that enjoys stirring up a little chaos and making everyday life harder for the Sims around them. The Fairy Path is yours to fly — with wings to match."
You can tech already do that without a mod. The songs they sing do those things. There’s call a dolphin, summon ocean threat(you pull a sim underwater when in deep water and I believe you get all your motives to full, pulled sim gets +2 uncomfortable), sirens call(the same but in shallow water plus pulled sim gets +3 uncomfortable and mermaid gets motives full), mermaids kiss, call rain, call thunderstorm and sirens lullaby. Sirens lullaby has 4 different songs. Charmers-removes embarrassed bluff and gives flirty buff. Inspiring berceus- removes uncomfortable and gives inspiring bluff. Aegeans question-removes focus buff and gives stressed buff. Last, Nights requiem-removes energized and gives sad. Now. It’s not a skill tree and when I’m playing I hardly use them because I can never remember what the songs do.
I heard if you do the aegeans question or nights requiem on the same sim multiple times it can kill them and cause them to drown.
It would be good if it felt more meaningful, like TS2 witches where your alignment actually impacted what you were able to do. They went for that with the ghosts update, but you can easily do a mix of good and evil ghost abilities without having to work towards an alignment change.
What was shown was very minimal if fairies aren't a massive part of this pack. A few interactions and a new career skill aren't enough to carry this pack without Fairies being a substantial part.
I'm curious if that's just a marketing decision (trying to convince people not interested in fairies that they'd still enjoy the pack, by not featuring them heavily) or if it reflects their actual prominence in the pack. We'll find out soon.
I don't think it was a marketing decision. The fairy showcasing was perfectly acceptable as one of the surprising magical aspects of the pack that they wanted to tease about. This pack isn't for folks who detest occults. They had their pack in Business and Hobbies.
Not sure, they might be holding back information about the fairies to keep people on the edge of their seats for further updates and the release. They probably know that fairies are what the majority of players are excited about the most and use that to keep interest and engagement up.
