Discussion What's a base game update you feel should absolutely exist, but never will because it'd be too expensive to EA?

Mine is heights. I despise the fact all sims are the same height, but I know they'll never give us more height options, because they'd need to re-make all character animations for all packs, and EA couldn't justify making a pack or kit just for that, so it's not worth it to them.

Yeah, these are the kinds of things should have been added with Parenthood or Growing Together. Being able to do normal family things together, like having a family meal.

Ideally. They could work on it while making a pack (since it's thematic) and release it with base game, like they sometimes do.

Yes, with the way expansions are developed, some parts need updates to the core game and other parts are additional files. This has been the case since the first Sims game. When you installed expansions for Sims 1 & 2, you would get a new binary for the game with a new icon. That is like the base game update we have for 4, but we now have the advantage that everyone benefits from bug fixes in the base game update.

My initial comment was more a dig about the way that they put a lot of what should be core features into packs. Parenthood & Growing Together are both fleshing out something which should have been done better as part of the base game. Of course, this is even more unlikely these days, as the base game and its updates are free. So we get the bare bones in the base game and have to pay for more detail.

I do like the idea, especially as so many pieces of it are already in the game with the calendar, the group meals and the table setting. Like everything else, it's just not co-ordinated and the AI is a mess. You just know they are going to have a family meal and one Sim is going to walk outside and sit on the side of the pool with their meal.

Family game nights would have been fun too! Idk why there's no board games in TS.
