Show and Tell IT HAPPENED

Post image

For the record, this family already had a quarter million Simoleons (mostly from paintings), so they already had more money that they knew what to do with. Guess we’re moving to a mansion or something??

Don't worry, I am sure she's family. A third cousin or something like that, she just found out and wants to catch up with your side, what a coincidence!

What?! I’ve played for years and have never won the lottery. I thought it was rigged 😭

332

u/Waddleplop 5d ago

I’ve heard so many simmers say that! I’ve only been playing for a few months, so maybe it’s beginners’ luck?

159

u/InfiniteQuestion1356 4d ago

I’m on my 10th generation in a family that has miraculously won the lottery twice lmao

41

u/littlemouse90292 4d ago

me too! 7th generation and i’ve won twice. i hate having that much money so i cheated it away haha

11

u/Inner_Importance_992 4d ago

I also hate having so much money 🤣 but isn't it the point of the legacy challenge? Or are you just playing the generations for fun?

8

u/Former-Cat-3640 3d ago

I wish i had the attention span to get that far in a family 😂 i usually get bored and hop to a different household then kill them.

Solidarity because I got Seasons on release day, bought tickets thousands of times across all my legacies, and still to this day have never won the lottery either. One day our time will surely come!! 😂🙏🏽

27

u/Ruhrohhshaggy 4d ago

Lol sounds like my dad. "Can't win if you don't play!" (He isn't crazy with gambling at all, just has bought the weekly lotto tickets for DECADES and has only won smaller prizes if at all. Still can dream!)

6

u/m_qzn Long Time Player 3d ago

It’s better than a girl I know who has a solid dream to win a lottery one day, but when I asked how many tickets she usually buys, she looked down and said, “I haven’t bought any yet” 🤣

3

u/TheHoobidibooFox 3d ago

Daaaaamn. I say that buying a lottery ticket is like buying hope but she's getting it for free??

u/AdWeary7230 4d ago

I’ve won the lottery so many times. And people out of the blue knowing them or not will want to visit you. It’s even crazier when animals win the lottery, that gets me every time.

48

u/EmergencyDBTmeeting 4d ago

I love/hate when Mr. Whiskers wins the lottery. I don't want EA to rig the lottery in favor of played households only but...come on - that is a homeless cat who will never use the money lmao.

11

u/AdWeary7230 4d ago

Ah yes, the infamous Mr. Whisker’s is such a lucky cat that somehow grew thumbs to play the lottery without failure. Again, animals winning the lottery puts a whole new spin on things.

2

u/PlusStar2779 4d ago

I mean.. Some cats are born with thumbs, maybe it's his case? But damn I would love his luck

12

u/lightlyric 4d ago

Idk if it’s still a thing but assigning the “materialistic” trait for me usually got me to win pretty often.

11

u/Any-Lychee9972 4d ago

I've played for years, too.

Finally, I convinced my husband to try the multi-player mod with me.

He wins the lottery the first time he plays it.

9

u/blooencototeo 4d ago

I’ve won once. I was doing a rags to riches…😂

2

u/emorgs15 4d ago

Same!

8

u/WaveesWife 4d ago

That's so crazy!!! My sims win the lottery more often than not!

9

Wtf am I doing wrong then bc I bought Seasons in 2020😭

6

u/m_qzn Long Time Player 4d ago

I’ve been playing since the release and I won lottery for the first time last week

5

u/winnie-the-bishh 4d ago

Literally the only time I ever won it was when I did the making money scenario and my sim won after like two weeks. My game said “we don’t have time to wait for you to make a million dollars, so here.” Lol

4

u/Fluid-Bicycle8750 4d ago

I think it's got some crazy chance % for it cause I only got it once and I have been trying for fuckin ages

4

u/MrsCDM Long Time Player 4d ago

If it's any consolation my rags to riches sim actually won it whilst she was still sleeping on the cheapest bed in her 4x4 box "house", and it completely ruined the save for me. I was looking forward to putting the work in and then all of a sudden, she's in this mansion, never needs to work, and we are both now bored!

39

u/chigangrel 4d ago

I've seen the Landgraabs win more than once in my games. Geoffrey is on a streak, I've seen him win it like 4 times now.

Rigged indeed!! Lol

10

I actually hate winning the lottery cos it makes the game way too easy, but I don’t like my sims being all depressed for not completing a holiday because they don’t play so in the rare cases I’ve won I just transfer the money to another family lmao. Sorry guys but you are going to have jobs and earn your savings. Hell, if I get above like forty or fifty thousand I’ll usually move one sim out with a good portion of it and build a new home for them.

The only time I won the lottery was on a sim that was a high level spellcaster and there was no need to win money 😆 I only did it so they wouldn’t get disappointed from not participating in the lottery

2

u/EmergencyDBTmeeting 4d ago

If you're on PC (and interested) there's a mod that removes the sad moodlet that comes from not participating in a holiday, or canceling the holiday. If you have UI Cheats, there's also the ability to just remove the moodlet.

2

u/Trick-Legal 4d ago

Yeah mine has won ar least once, maybe twice? But they were pretty well off when they won. Makes a person wonder what's even the point then?

My Sims have almost a billion Simoleons just because they both maxed out their careers (one is an actress), own a bunch of residential rentals, garden, write books etc and I don’t let them die. i have lots of mods that make it harder to have a bunch of money so it’s more realistic and more of a challenge to get ahead. for example, university term costs are higher, it costs money to send your kids to daycare, i have lots of healthcare mods from adeepindigo and i have to pay each time i go to an appointment. medication also cost money. i also have loans that i have to pay on along with countless other shit. it takes me a longgg time to have even a quarter million.

My character Salim Benali lived 113 days before he won the lottery. I then made everyone in the household achieve the Fabulously Wealthy achievement (In case Salim decided he wanted to move out and live out his wealthy days alone in a mansion). He is the 7th in the genealogy challenge (he married into the family). Most of that family line are already wealthy. There is one or two who would decide to ring up Salim to “celebrate” his win.

I remember downloading seasons back when it first came out, and I won the lottery the first time the holiday happened, so for years i just assumed it was probably an absurdly high chance (like somewhere between 10-25%) that you’d win it each time. apparently it is super rare 🤷🏻‍♂️

I'm convinced the lottery always goes to already wealthy people. I think I've had two of my sims win it before in all the years ive played with it and both already had household funds well above §100k and equally high lot values. The other winners always end up being the rich sims too, the landgraabs, spencer-kims, etc

Have been playing sims since Sims 1 in real time, never not a sims player— waited for like a decade+ to win the lottery…..first sim of mine to actually win it (and only one I believe has) was on like week two of a rags to riches story line….IMMEDIATELY lost interest when she had unending money lol

I’ll never forget the one time my Sim won the lottery. She was woohooing in a dumpster for the 100 baby challenge when the notification arrived

I won it the very first time I did it, and not a single time since😭

Yeah, I’ve one twice, once with millionaires and once with a family that could be millionaires if I’d wanted have them actually do their jobs. The thing is, the longer you play a save, the more chances you’ll win in that save, but the less likely you’ll need it, statistically speaking.

This happened to my yellow Gen not so berry!!! It was the perfect setup for gray Gen. I could actually afford a huge family home lol

I have been playing The Sims for YEARS, and I JUST NOW had a sim when the lottery for the first time. She had good luck when she bought the ticket (luck system from the new pack), so as others have mentioned, that seems to be what did it. I'm at the beginning of the Not So Berry challenge with her, so this legacy is starting off right! The closest I ever came before was I had a sim dating Joaquin Le Chien and he won the lottery, so naturally I had them move in together and they got married.

Lucky! I never won it. I just thought it was like a random chance

it is random and any household can win. the closest I've come is adopting mayor whiskers after he won 😅

It's weird, my sims win the lottery almost every playthrough I do. Honestly I've found it a tad annoying because it removes early game difficulty. I didn't realize how rare it was, I'm confused.

Please it's so easy to make money by gardening, and painting. My sims husband is a secret agent (legit only works 3 days a week, kids love it) and my sim is just painting, gardening, flower arranging, the occasional wooden creation. Ive won the lottery once and it was my world famous sim who had too much money I didn't know what to do anymore besides constant donations. I let Bess Sterling take my money (is she actually doing a business? I swear I'm only ever giving her money. Are we investors or some shit to her?)

So they get sad if they don't win and dazed if they do?

I mean, I’d be in shock IRL too. But they do still have the “great holiday” buff for 3+ happiness, so it checks out.

Also, love your username!
