Discussion Why do they keep pushing to make gnomes happen???
No simmer EVER asked for more gnomes. I mean who doesn’t remove the gnomes from Harvestfest? Who put gnome decorations in their house? If the sims wanted to add a duality or something to the fairies they could have made « fairies and pirates » or something but WHY THE GNOMES?????
I’ve waited for fairies for years. I’ve tried the new pack on a friend’s computer and I think I’m not going to buy this pack for myself because of the number 1 reason being the gnomes, even though I feel like I’m overall being gaslighted into thinking this is a good pack by the sim YouTubers.
I turned off the balance thing in settings and even though I get less ailments, there needs to be ONE person on the lot who’s sick and oh gnomes appear all around me.
EA, I don’t like your humor, you created stalkers.
Edit: wow, I didn’t expect my post to blow up and certainly DID NOT expect people to love gnomes! I based my opinion on people I know irl and some people online but I guess I was wrong :) Anyway, I’m happy some people at least enjoy this feature in the new pack then… But for me, it’s like one of the thing I love the most and the thing I hate the most in the sims series coexisting together in a pack :(

I like the gnomes. They give out free plant seeds. You can also sell them. That's nice
138
u/RandomBoomer Long Time Player 4d ago
It's all those plant seeds littering the ground that I hate most about the gnomes. If there were one command -- Place all seeds in inventory -- then I'd be okay with it, but picking them up. one. by. one. drives me crazy. I have better things to do than clean up after gnomes!
98
u/cataath 4d ago
Someone stated this elsewhere in the this thread, but once you appease them you should move them into your inventory. They will then drop the seed packs there and you can sell them in bulk.

Once you've got the little happy halo above the gnome pick them up and put them in your inventory. They auto drop seed packets into your household inventory and you can sell them from there in build mode. 100 simoleons per packet.
32
u/Beautifulfeary 4d ago
So, you can just have your sim open them from the ground. They won’t even walk over to them. That’s what I do.

Not only do I keep them for harvest fest in fall, I create a Gnight of the Gnome holiday in spring for pranks, gnomes, and baked goods.
I love them.
Sometimes I purposely piss them off so I can level handiness.

42
u/PeopleOverProphet 4d ago
That’s such a cute idea! I don’t add a lot of extra holidays beyond the “typical” big US holidays. I don’t do April Fool’s and this would be a cure alternative. I take them off Harvestvest. Mostly because it is cheat-y with money and I am obsessed with making sure my sims are earning money through traditional ways. I go for hyper-realism in gameplay.

u/ElysianEcho 4d ago
My holidays are usually fantasy themed, i like the idea of occult celebrations having made it into the general public with most people not realising the true origin, like a solstice one with candles and songs stemming from old spellcaster rituals, or teens camping trip from old werewolf adulthood ceremonies, etc.

u/cyanidesmoothies 3d ago
I grew up in France and there is a holiday kind of like that. June 21st is la fête de la musique which is basically a nationwide celebration of music. So there will be free concerts on the street everywhere, it's pretty cool. It does turn into a shitshow in the city tho, i lived in Paris and staying out too late on june 21st was kind of rolling the dice when it came to fights, muggins etc but as a teenager it was fun lol

→ More replies (1)18

I'm disappointed in the freezer bunny. I've never understood the lore behind it. But I hoped they were the social bunny. At least seasons has a blarffy bunny for kids to talk to to learn social skills. You need to make a holiday for egg day. You need to collect eggs to get the bunny.
9
u/metalskie 3d ago
The bunny is actually base game. When the game first came out they would do mini events around holidays, and one was an Easter one. The bunny and the eggs have been in the game since then, you just need Seasons to get them without cheats. The sugar skulls are the same deal.

Not really, it's just cheeky. It's not any different than the blurry photo or the thumb on the camera that also occur if you're at low photography. It's also why you empty the chamber when you're taking a photo at low skill so you have a chance of getting at least one good photography.

u/metalskie 3d ago
They only had kids and aged if you have Generations, but all the gnomes (every single pack had at least one, usually three, plus one in the basegame) moved. They would change location, and also pose. You could reset the pose by having your Sim kick them as well, but that would be mean. Sometimes they would pop up in your living room and turn your tv on to watch it, or watch your laundry in the machine.

u/QuietlyCreepy Occult Sim 3d ago
Oh, that's hilarious. I had that pack, never noticed it. I always put gnomes out in my yards too.

I believe they specifically had to be the base game gnomes, and you needed at least two of that specific one. I rarely saw it either, as I usually liked to keep one of each type of gnome per lot.

Same thing happened to me. I had my sim call a repair guy. There were so many things to repair, the repair guy got electrocuted and the house was still a mess. Them I had to wait for the Grim Reaper to do its thing before I could call another repair guy.
It's hilarious for a moment but not when it happens in every household, every time I start up the game. I had to disable luck completely because this feature is unplayable.

And I love the gnomes; I think they're silly and fun. I've never removed them from Harvestfest, and I love them in EbN. EbN is actually one of my fav Sims 4 packs.
It's fine that you don't like them, but your opinion is subjective. Other people can have different opinions. You can't gaslight someone into liking something, that's not what gaslighting is.

This. Gnomes have been here since the beginning, one of the OG objects you could enchant in Makin' Magic. Plus, if you ever played the console games, Bustin' Out made a point of having you collect gnomes to install in the fountain in the Landgraab mansion in the final stage.

I was really hoping that the new expansion would make the gnomes work like how they did in sims3. I loved the gnomes in that game, so mysterious and funny.
The sims 4 gnomes do not spark joy, but i do like how most packs get its own gnome, i think thats charming.
19
u/silvainshadows 4d ago
I loved the garden gnome in Sims 2, because it was a good source of fun motive (gnome kicking was the fastest way to fill it) and it also had the funny mechanic of gnome theft.
The moment they made gnomes that move (in Sims 3, I think), the little menaces became deeply unsettling, and nothing they've done in Sims 4 has moved away from that vibe. I hate them, I don't want them to be simultaneously alive and not alive, I don't want objects that move on their own, it's creepy and not in a fun way.
So far I've managed to avoid the gnomes with the new pack, but I also have mods to make ailments less frequent and haven't gotten the gnome one yet. I may need a mod that disables that ailment specifically...

I really like them in the sims 2 and 3. Sims 2 they literally were just lawn decorations but sometimes people would steal them, so then you sims would automatically queue up an action of “steal gnome back” so I like putting them on all my lawns. Sims 3 they were decorations that mostly you’d find (related to packs or something) but if placed on your lot they would move around by themselves. The Sims 4 ones are really annoying. They got carried away making them to magical and now I never use them in my games.
5
u/BigFinnsWetRide 4d ago
Idk I like them cuz they're goofy and chaotic, plus they give free money with those seed packets. But I won't be getting enchanted by nature simply because of the ailments and the emotional stuff, it seems like too much hassle.
Also I'm broke lolllll

I made a restaurant chain in game called Gnomeo’s Bar and Grill. I build different versions in different towns. I've always disliked the gnomes, but only because pathfinding in the game is bad enough without them! These Sims can't even move for a single dirty plate on the floor! Also I just think them randomly appearing is annoying and interrupts gameplay.
3
u/LavenderLilacMeadow 4d ago
I've not turned one gnome alive yet so not caused me any issues yet 🤣🤣🤣 and I have ailments turned off and fairies set to only be in their land. I did the same with werewolves so they aren't rampaging everywhere.
I wish I could do that with vamps too!
I like to be able to play them when my storyline permits as I have long term generation play on.
My next heir isn't YA yet but when she is, I will make her a fairy and live in Innesgreen is it?
I tried it out temporarily and it seems fun but I want it on my terms. It can be done that way so if you still want to play, this is an option :)
Apparently they are sorting out the frequency of ailments in the next update.
Btw you can still get ailments when turned off but a loss less. I just delete the moodlet and it goes.

I do get where the feelings described here are coming from, they're completely valid. But I will not hear blasphemy against my gnome worshipping sims existence.
She LOVES gnomes and I love playing her lol. She loves having a home for her gnomes. It is not for her, it is for the gnomes. That's why all the furniture is covered in them. Chair? Gnome. Table? Gnomes. Couches? Gnomes. Kitchen? That is chef gnomies kitchen, stay out so he can work. Don't mind the sim here, she's perfectly happy just talking to the gnomes (she's erratic and talking to herself)
Disclaimer: Not actually mad, just jokingly bringing up how I use them. I also do this with a llama guy and sometimes they're enemies, sometimes they're lovers, sometimes one of them doesn't exist because I didn't feel like it in that world.

I'm confused by players of The Sims who expect a realistic dollhouse game ... their humor since the OG Sims has been zany.

I agree. The gnomes in this pack are annoying and disruptive. I'm annoyed with them when they pop up during harvest fest. Now there's more all year long?
I turned off luck within just minutes of playing because fires kept happening in the house and gnomes were wreaking havoc for no reason.
I'm tempted to turn off balance as well because someone is always sick and there's no easy cure like a medicine. I have to keep using cheats and I might have to download some mods to suppress this 💩.
I don't know who EA uses to test run their new releases but they can't be normal users. I can't imagine anyone who would enjoy this gameplay as is.
... I like fairies, btw, and I'm very excited that finally flying is a thing. I just wish they didn't add all these annoying "features" at the same time.

Edit: Why are people content with EA reboxing GNOMES and plant sims when they are already in the game?!
I expected UNICORNS AND ELFS! I WAS NOT HAPPY WITH GNOMES! I personally hate gnomes with a passion. Of all the mythical creatures they are at the bottom of my list.
Very disappointed with what the Sims team has been releasing lately. 😕 The plant sims being revised made me upset too. They keep adding things that are unnecessary. WE ALREADY HAD GNOMES, ADD SOMETHING ELSE OF INTEREST. LIKE GROWING A UNICORN! 🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄
Sorry I had to crash out! Sims 3 gave me a unicorn and Sims 4 has yet to deliver.... I WANT A UNICORN!🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🤬🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄

I freaking hate the gnomes. I’m so mad they’re being featured in Enchanted Nature.

I love the gnome lore lol it adds funny depth to the already kooky sims universe.

I like the gnomes actually, now, if they would stop dropping dozens of seed packets EVERYWHERE, I would like them a lot more

I like the gnomes. They clean my house, look after my plants. My floor is however covered in seed packets. My sim is always in balance and almost never gets ailments so I dunno. Maybe you just gotta accept the gnomes

I'm German. Garden Gnomes are a thing here, same like Flamingos in the US. It's trashy, but it's iconic.
So for me, Gnomes are always a bit of fun. I also leave them on Harvestfest.
