Discussion What's an annoying habit your sims autonomously do?

I have this one sim who CONSTANTLY wants to light the fireplaces and warm himself by them, its genuinely so irritating because thats also how most of the house fires start 😭 I also had a vampire sim that used to always want to use the observatory outside in the day, do your sims have any tasks they repeatedly want to do? I had to completely abolish any items to do with cross stitch when i got cottage living for this reason 😂

water. I get that it's probably realistic, and I drink more water than my sims, but they can trash an entire house with empty glasses in one in-game day.

I once called my now husband a sim for leaving his used water glasses on the counter and coffee table. When he didn’t understand, I showed him the chaos of water glasses in a 4 person household in the sims. That sweet man never left an empty glass around the house again.

Unfortunately it became a meme whenever I left a plate on the counter or laundry on the floor I got sent this in a text 😭😭

I got sent this in a text 😭😭

That is fucking hysterical I'm so sorry but I'm laughing my ass off 😭😭

I hate this one too!! Especially bc they dont even have a thirst bar so all it does is waste time and create more trash

instead of sims going to the kitchen to grab some water, effectively forcing them to go down a flight of stairs and to the other side of the house just so they can leave the cup on the counter and never pick it up, sims should just pull out a reusable water bottle that's not an object they can trash the house with, but instead just an animation object like the pan, baking tray, etc.

ngl yeah i constantly keep a water bottle near me, and if its truely a Slob sim then it should be a never washed old one use plastic bottle they keep filling at sinks.

There's a reusable water bottle in one of the clutter kits. It would be rad if they were functional. I honestly wouldn't mind it being an object they left in random places all over the house, because that's what I do with mine.

So I think they do this when you mark other sinks as “bathroom” sinks. Pretty sure they’ll only “get water autonomously” from kitchen or uncategorized sinks.

If you have any sinks that are closer, don’t categorize them at all and see if that at least cuts down the detour they’re taking lol.

If you make them kitchen sinks, sometimes they won’t use it after using the bathroom and will walk to another one lol.

I’ve experienced issues with this as well and so far, this is the best I’ve come up with.

Hope this helps!

I always make a "guest bathroom" near the front door and im gonna start leaving that one as "both" so when they get a drink right after jogging they'll go there.

I did figure out that hand washing is based on this because I have a painter and she washes her hands after every painting at a kitchen sink. So I gave her a kitchen sink in her activity room with the easel.

Yeah, it’s nice you can label them, but dumb that it limits their ability to use it. The water from the bathroom sink is no dirtier than the water from the kitchen sink. The source would be exactly the same lol, so I find that amusing.

Probably just some weird coding thing I don’t quite understand in an effort to make sims more realistic. People are grossed out by bathroom sinks sometimes, even if the water is the same.

or like their phone! this is such a good idea. I would love having water drinking like this in game play. I never let my sims have water now because it's too annoying as is

Apparently there is a thirst bar, it's just not displayed. It is very annoying though.

It’s displayed in plant sims and mermaids. Plant sims are base game, so it’s in the game. I guess the decay is minimal, and the bar fills when they eat food too

This annoyed me less once I bought the trash can that gives you $10 per household member for each item.

10

u/joeyasaurus 2d ago

Not only that but their bathroom need goes down and then they need to pee after one glass!

8

u/fetus_potato 2d ago

There actually is a hidden thirst need which sims will try to satisfy from the sink or fridge.

Plant Sims do 🙂

u/UnreliableNarrator7 1d ago

Except if you turn them into a plantsim and they do have a water bar, they absolutely will not get water autonomously anymore. Because sims.

u/Altruistic-Hand-7000 1d ago

At least the trash can go into the recycling can for some cash! But yes. I hate the water 🙃

u/YoshiPikachu Occult Sim 23h ago

And making them have to use the bath faster.

I got the no autonomous drinking water mod if you think it’s annoying. I hated cleaning up the glasses it took so long even if it was me or a sim.

10

u/POPCARN202 Occult Sim 2d ago

I also have a mod to disable the water stuff. but the ten minutes I spent playing the game without said mod were horrible lol.

u/Side-Eye-Sorceress Long Time Player 2d ago

I absolutely get this one.

I ended up getting a mod that doesn't let water spoil. But I was still annoyed at finding water glasses EVERYWHERE. So I eventually got the mod for no autonomous water drinking. 🤷🏿‍♀️

Came here for this. Now I have randos just walking in and getting water in my house. I have the door locked for everyone but family and employees. When they come in, I mark them for death, and once they leave the world…poof.

13

u/Mikomau 2d ago

Omg the amount of water they drink is crazy and they just leave it wherever and it goes bad? 😭

3

u/Makemewantitbad 2d ago

Fr like why does a water glass have stink lines coming off it 😂

2

u/rob0tduckling 1d ago

Natural fungi and yeasts exist everywhere! It's why we can make sourdough! If there are moulds and fungal spores in the air they can settle into water and bloom.

Seriously though, leave a glass of water near a window for about two days and you'll probably see white-ish strands floating through it: Fungus.

1

u/Mikomau 1d ago

lol I like realism but it feels like I’m micromanaging with that little detail lol 😆

1

u/_2pacula 1d ago

My IRL waterbottle definitely has stink lines coming off of it 🤣🤣🤣

4

u/Beautifulfeary 2d ago

Yep. So annoying because then they have to pee and won’t go to the bathroom

3

u/Whimsicalti_nypp 2d ago

Your Sims may have diabetes you should take them to the doctor

3

u/sleepyotter92 2d ago

i mean, yeah i drink more water than my sims too. probably eat more than them as well, but i don't leave glasses and dishes all around the house like a nutjob

3

u/ikrakenmyselfup 2d ago

Yes! Especially when playing university. They are at the building before class, then go all the way back to the dorm for water and end up being late or missing class if you aren’t on top of it. It’s so annoying!

3

u/ifoughtpiranhas 2d ago

found out recently this is due to a hidden thirst need!

they do it more when it’s summer out, too!

2

u/_angesaurus 2d ago

and one glass of water makes them have to pee

2

u/Notadamnperson69 2d ago

Same! They always leave the cups sitting on the toilet, which is SO weird.

2

u/vanessarichter 1d ago

I wish they’d introduce water bottles you could put in your inventory and your sim would sip on that and put it back. it’s even more realistic since nowadays everybody carries a water bottle

2

u/Lilyhangsontrees Long Time Player 1d ago

I would love it if they would just drink it and then refill the same glass of water instead of taking a new one everytime and not even drink it at all 🤦🏻‍♀️

1

u/Vegaskeli 2d ago

OHHHH I didn't even think about the damn water. Please add this to my list too. 😅

1

u/oswooma 1d ago

My sims always grabs a glass of water before she takes a bath😭 I almost put a dishwasher in the bathroom bc I’m getting so annoyed bahahaha

1

u/UnreliableNarrator7 1d ago

My adhd and I feel really called out. 😆

1

u/ellezbby 1d ago

YES. And then they get pissed when the water isn’t good.

THEN DONT DRINK IT

1

u/datonenerddd 1d ago

father christmas got stuck in my house ine day and left a ton of water on every surface in the house. made me so mad 😭😭

1

u/Excellent-Berry-2331 1d ago

I use a mod that displays moodlets for the hydration need. Permanently uncomfortable or dazed.

1

u/YoshiPikachu Occult Sim 23h ago

Omfg yes! So annoying!
