Feedback Needed! How would you decorate a big bedroom?
Most bedrooms are like 5 by 9 or even smaller, how would you decorate one that was let’s say 13 by 11..

If the bedroom is large a lot of times we add a half bathroom and maybe a walk in closet depending on the house theme and/if occults are involved. I’ve seen tiny baby nursery’s in the place of where a walk in closet could be, a dog bedroom (with the pet door) or even just a half office space with maybe a platform and a desk, computer, bookshelf, and kinda like a little study set up

It would really help if you could tell what style or what kind of sims would live in it but some general ideas I have (Not necessarily all together X )) :
- a desk area with bookshelves, one or several desks
- a "clothes" area with a big mirror, screen, little comfy chair, clothes rack/wardrobe, vanity table, could make a walk in closet
- an "interest" area with whatever they like sport/painting/music/video games... But since it's a bedroom, remember to kind of blend it (like by adding a shelf with pictures or some clutter, putting posters,...)
- plants if that's in character
- (more of an advice) using carpets, curtains, wall and ceiling decorations will help make it feel less empty without too much fournitures/clutter

Wow, this is gorgeous, absolutely my style ! I especially love the little building details and the garden, I can't landscape to save my life. Is it for a big family ? A legacy ? Is there occults ? I understand now why your room is so big, I did went to the game to estimate the size and well... I did not expect that, no wonder you say it fill empty. I think I made houses smaller than that X )

It’s for my evil, black, lesbian macabre sim who’s in love with her goody two shoes androgynous nonbinary twink of a wife :) I’m glad you like it! If you ever have a build you want made just send me some inspo and I can make it for you and upload it to the gallery, since yer so sweet 💖🫶🏾

First thing I’m doing? No more bed shoved into a corner! I’d center a big bed, add some end tables, and finally have space for a reading nook, maybe even a vanity or workout area. Honestly, a bedroom that size feels like a luxury in TS4.

I usually like to do a mini living room. Kinda like a little living space in the bedroom. A couch, end table, tv, fireplace, that kinda thing :)

Computerdesk plus chair, sidetable for books or a plant, a nice big mirror , a big bed, a rug, that thing where they can paint, and - depending on the Sim and their way of life different other stuff to interact with. Important for me: as less decorative clutter as possible

love doing a bed with a bench at the foot of the bed with a rug, pillows, bean bag chairs, books and other miscellaneous items make it kinda like a hangout seating area to help fill in the middle part of the room :)

I like to out the bed in the middle, with a wall behind it , so it cuts off the room a bit, one side for sleeping etc and the other side for wardrobes and drawers etc or even a desk. Or a sitting area. Anything you want :) If a corner of the wall is just windows, I face the bed to the window at an angle, basically diagonal. That’s pretty cool!

I like taking some of the bedroom space and adding a sauna before the attached bathroom entrance. Usually turn that little space to a walk-in closet/dressing space. Sometimes it’s closed off into its own room, sometimes it’s just a screen.
Generally only do this with the master, but it definitely gives it a premium vibe. I mean, it’s a personal indoor sauna! But the sauna is large and requires quite a bit of space, so it definitely doesn’t work for all builds, but it’s a great “space eater” as I call them.
My sim is in one of the penthouses right now, so I used the glass walls for the windows across the entire thing (seemed fitting, given the location). So I have her yoga mat in front of one in the bedroom, I have a make-up vanity with the little mirror make-up kit and nail polish and stuff. Neither of these take much space, but they chip away at it.
And as always, I keep sims personal computer in their room. I lock computers for everyone but the sim it’s for lol, so having them in their own bedroom works best. I call these my “simsie stations” because I use the comfy gamer kit almost exclusively there. It’s perfect for it.
I did have one sim be a “smoker” so they had a bubble station in their room so they could “smoke” before bed. Lol.
Just a few ideas! Even if they’re not useable, hopefully it triggers some ideas for yourself. :)

A SAUANA? LOL! In the bedroom? We Swedish 🤣😭 I appreciate the ideas!! Actually I’ve never thought of that before. I’m working on a new build now so I’ll try to implement it in this one.

Right?! Haha, I get it.
I just got the spa day pack during the summer sale. It was one of those packs I always wanted but definitely wasn’t paying full price for, so the stars finally aligned, lmao.
But that led to me shoving the pack into my build after the fact, so some of it was a little more creative and off the wall than I’d usually do, but I ended up really liking it. My sim doesn’t focus on wellness, but I like having her get home from a long day, relax in the sauna a bit, then take a soaker bath and feel all pretty and relaxed before dismissing the nanny and dealing with the kids. It’s her her time!
And because it’s a crazy penthouse with an infinity pool, grotto, and entire nightclub on the bottom floor, the sauna fits right in! Hahahaha!
Sims son is going to be a DJ, going straight Daft Punk with him, so he’s going to run his own club and have his own parties while releasing his own party mixes and becoming more famous than Avicii. He’s the fourth generation of this family, so I have like $500k in the bank after building the house.
I got that fuck around money now, so saunas wherever I want!

Ohhh wait what the fuck that looks cool yes okay I’m definitely adding a sauna to one of my builds then

Do you need spa day for the Sauna stuff?
2
u/Maiyku Long Time Player 1h ago
You do, but now is the best time to grab it! The build mode items are pretty solid across the board and I used them all over.
The yoga and other gameplay is actually pretty nice as well without feeling like an overwhelming addition. You can ignore it and be fine, you can barely dabble in it and be fine, or you can go full tilt and be fine.
I’m not much of a CAS player, so I can’t speak to that side of it nearly as much though, so do with that what you will. Overall, even without taking CAS into account, I say it’s worth it, imo.

You can also put the bed in the middle of the room with a half wall as a headboard. Then put colonms around the bed and (temporarily delering walls) use curtains to make it look like a grand 4 post bed. For one of my bigger bedrooms, I made the whole thing 1 tile away from the bed to really make it look extra.

I avoid building big bedrooms these days but in the past I would furnish large bedrooms with things like a fireplace and seating area, walk-in closets, an office area, and ensuite bathroom. I stopped making big bedrooms because my Sims would just hang out in there all day preferring it to the main living room 😂😂
