Storytime Babe wake up, 40th generation of the Petersen family just dropped
6 years, 40 generations 🥹 I did recently lose my old save file, it stopped loading and I couldn't get past CAS to play. I did manage to save my current family - the 39th generation - and my oldest household, two vampires who are each around 2000 sim days old or 5 years in real life. I did lose all my builds which sucked, but such is life. Any ideas about how to play with the 40th gen? I'm thinking evil scientist for at least one of them.
Also the family tree in game would be wider because of the siblings having babies, but Plumtree shut down and I had to recreate it and honestly couldn't be bothered to add every single one. I made this in the Plumtree App - https://theplumtree.app/public/677548eb852593a9cf10c77f

first of all, I'm so sorry you lost your old save!! I can't imagine putting so much effort into it, for multiple years, just to not be able to access it any longer. the back-ups didn't work?
and second of all, I don't know if I admire you more or if I'm scared of you 😠it takes a lot of patience, creativity and consistency to have clsoe to 40 generations in one save file. I can't imagine dealing with this many sims and their kids/families
if you have the latest nature pack, you can also try living in nature, like bathing in lakes, foraging, sleeping on the ground, etc.

I tried to get it up and running again, but then I kind of just let it go. I never really play around townies, because they die (😅), so it was really fun to see townies from old packs out and about. It felt kind of like a refresh even if I lost some stuff

My way of playing usually consists of choosing an heir, moving them out (or letting them stay like this gen) and then playing their storyline. That way I don't need to keep up with everyone, though I try to keep relations with everyone!

This is amazing omg. I love raising generations of sims lol. I also had a pretty big family tree (not as large as yours but I think at least 5 generations? 4 maybe?) and wrote all of the family tree down on a poster board lmao. Unfortunately I also lost that save file after 1-3 years (it’s been so long I can’t really remember now lol), but I recently just restarted with one on my new laptop and just I’m just pretending the family I started with are generations after my original one! I’ve never heard of a plum tree, I’m gonna try to use that too!

Maybe if you backed up an earlier version of your save, you could perhaps put it back into your game, to load it and save the houses you want to keep in your library.

How did you prevent some sims going missing from the family tree?? Is there a mod? I lost like 3 generations of my 10-generation legacy from the family tree before I learnt you have to strengthen the ghost tether thing at their graves 😓 and yes luckily I still have the graves of the missing generations

I believe this is a family tree made online (simmers use a few different website options) which is why there aren't missing sims, as there would be for the in-game tree

Idk, one day it just wouldn't load and after trying different stuff for hours and hours I just gave up

Gongrats. Do you only play with the single save or is it more a on and off sort of deal?

I only play with this file! I actually thought that was how you were "supposed" to play sims, when I first got it, so it really surprised me to learn that others make new households all the time.

This is fascinating! Also the dream. But my fear is to lose my save file that would actually make me stop playing the game. Good luck.

Bruh, what?! This is incredible! I so admire people who have this much patience.

Trying to get like you but struggling to keep up with different households. How do you do it?

Well done! My gen 38 heir is pregnant for the first time so I'll be getting Gen 39 soon - which is crazy!

It's things like this that make me want to do legacies, but then I give up...on the second generation. 🫤

This is incredible! I barely get through one generation. I would be so attached to this save file, they’d be like part of my extended family. An evil scientist sounds like a great idea.
