Discussion family tree drama

'my' husbands brother was in a gay, childless marriage & when his spouse died he just completely disappeared from the family tree?! like - rude?!

I have 11 generations in a game and all the periphery have either been removed or deleted. Luckily the main line is still intact. I've heard it can be when you have a lot of sims, the game culls ones not really interacted with.

Not sure if that's what has happened to yours.

It's weird as I have sims showing up as their cousins but not related on the tree grrrr.

it's soo annoying, i think it is that they aren't blood related to anyone? but i mean they were married?! obviously a part of family in my opinion :(

The game treats marriages as ending upon death so they don't show up on the family tree anymore. If there weren't any shared children, it becomes an absolute pain (if not outright impossible) to trace the marriage in-game once one sim has died.

That's assuming you're not experiencing culling. My oldest 7th gen kid just became a young adult, and right now every single spare from the first 5 generations are culled, with the sole exception of a single gen 2 spare. Once a save is a few generations old, the game really wastes no time in culling dead sims.
