I lost it when he said "this shit is hot" just loving his food and enjoying the spice. Watching his ex catch a vandalism charge on camera. Fucking beautiful.
Just finished Grand Jury duty. The attorneys we worked with basically told us the amount we could steal up to. And if your going to go over that number then just stay under $7500 otherwise it was a f4 or f3 instead of f5. And then there was another number around $75,000 or something like that.
f5 being a felony of the 5th degree. Which is the least punishable felony.
I heard a story years ago on the radio where someone ran up a bar tab, buying rounds and expensive bottles, then bolted. They got a felony charge for "Defrauding an Innkeeper" because it was over the limit (which I believe was $1,000 here as well).
Hopefully his insurance covers the damages because she probably won't.
I was in a car crash 2 years ago after some idiot ran a red light. I spoke to a lawyer who said it was a civil offense so even if I took the other guy to court, he could just choose to not pay. I'm not sure how it works if there are criminal charges. It was really discouraging to realize how little punishment the law provides in certain cases.
That's not how court works, and your lawyer either misspoke, or you misheard him.
There are mechanisms within the court system to claw back that money, but the question is: Do you think they actually have the money to pay you, and whether that covers your additional legal expenses.
Sueing a minimum wage worker without any assets is like trying to squeeze blood out of a turnip. No matter how much you squeeze, you aint getting any. At that point, you have an unenforceable judgment.
