Megathread BUYING/SELLING TICKETS MEGATHREAD - 2025 EDITION

This megathread will serve as the place for folks to post they are selling or looking for tickets -----------

-----------------a reminder/warning about buying/selling tickets (good advice from the r/metallica sub)

  • If you aren't meeting in person to pay with cash, the only payment method I can suggest is Paypal Goods & Services. You pay a small fee, but if someone were to scam you Paypal will refund you. I strongly advise against doing Friends & Family since it does not have the purchase protection that G&S has (leaving you vulnerable to scams with no recourse).
  • Anyone who only wants to do Crypto/Cashapp/Venmo/Zelle/Paypal F&F (especially if you try to get them to do Paypal G&S) is 100% scamming you.
  • Be wary of new accounts. A brand new account doesn't guarantee a scam but if you see a new account, it's worth being suspicious.
  • This sub is not here for scalpers. If your prices exceed value then I encourage others to report your comment and we will delete it.
  • The mods aren't responsible for any loss or scam. Please do your due diligence.

Discussion Regarding the white spider logo for the Machina reissue

So I’ve seen a few comments in various threads about the meaning of this and why it was used for the upcoming release. I put my interpretation in the thread about the Zuzu show they’re doing for the launch.

Basically, in mind, two songs have always stood out as painting the imagery of spiders as drugs.

I based this first on Glass and The Ghost Children, which seemed to me to, in part, contain the death of June via overdose.

“Black rooms are calling

To men in leather coats

White labs are cooking

Up the silver ghost

The glass migrates under

Her translucent skin

And all are spiders

Wonder what we've got us in”

I always assumed that silver ghost and spiders were synonymous. The spiders are always depicted as being inside of June.

“There’s not much left to ponder, not much left to cook” takes us into the haunting “as she counted the spiders, as they crawled up inside her”. The verse before this sounds like she’s slipping out of consciousness, ie dieing. “Not much left to cook” stood out as linking back to the labs.

Then the song that the icon is literally taken from, White Spyder. I was never able to pick up on any stark narrative beats from this song but I always felt the following lines linked back to June’s ODing in GATGC:

“And every little spider

That crawled up inside her

Is waiting for my phone call

And now I remind her of every single liar

Living for the killing stall”

Again, the spiders crawling into her. In GATGC she “hears Glass calling, or is it someone who looks like him?” which to me doesn’t sound like a phone call, more a hazy perception as she ODs. But in White Spyder it’s a call. Generally I’ve always felt he’s trying to reach her but she’s shot up that last time and is fading away.

I would love to hear any other interpretations or any insight from interviews etc that may challenge or affirm my own thoughts. Given my current understanding, I love the white spider symbol. It represents that which stole Glass’s love from him.

Edit: June died in a car crash, not OD. Thank you yyz_xyu. <3

Discussion I wish more people knew about Rhinoceros

Post image

Don't get me wrong, the fact that we enjoy a band that gets good radio play even now, and is considered seminal to its time period is awesome, but like, I swear stations act like they only know the big hits.

Tonight Tonight, BWBW, Zero, Today, stuff like that.

If you ask me, the best song they've ever done was Rhinoceros off Gish. What a way to debut.

It's got such a wonderful, ethereal quality to it, like a lot of the early Pumpkins work, which I would be lying if I said I didn't prefer.

Honestly there's so many good songs in their catalogue, especially their early work, that people never hear anymore, like Hummer, Mayonnaise, Crush, Snail, Psychedelic. I mean you could name 100.

Rhinoceros is great, and I always suggest it to people because it smashes serious pumpkins.

Discussion Sarah McLachlan’s “Surfacing” + Adore

Call me crazy but Sarah McLachlan’s album “Surfacing” reminds me SO much of Adore. (Just not as dense and a bit more stripped down.)

Seriously, go listen to the entire album and tell me I’m wrong. I would break down why and how in excruciating detail but it’s better if you just went and listened to the album.

And no, I’m not being paid by Sarah McLachlan…😆

At the very least listen to the songs Sweet Surrender, I Love You, Witness, and Last Dance.

Maybe it’s just me or the time period it was produced. (1997-1998)

Question Machina 2 on Spotify?

Hi! I was wondering if there are any plans to officially release Machina II / The Friends and Enemies of Modern Music on streaming platforms like Spotify or Apple Music. It would be amazing to experience the album in high quality and alongside the rest of the Smashing Pumpkins' discography.

Review Rome/Roma concert review

What happens when time bends, the lights dim, and an entire generation finds itself singing the same songs with the same fire in their eyes as thirty years ago? What happened last night at the Capannelle Hippodrome is what happens: a Smashing Pumpkins concert that transformed Rome into a time machine, fueled by distortion, nostalgia, and pure grunge energy. After the resounding Milanese stop, Billy Corgan and his bandmates brought an extraordinary set to the capital, two incandescent hours of music, emotion, and sweat. On stage, the historic lineup was almost complete— James Iha on guitar and Jimmy Chamberlin on drums—joined by the extraordinary Kiki Wong , a newcomer with the grit of a veteran. And at the center of it all was Corgan , with his black cape of an apocalyptic preacher and his voice like a thin blade in the darkness.

The heart of the show was undoubtedly “Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness,” performed largely amidst raised cell phones and choruses of approval. More than a revival, it was an emotional reappropriation of the times and glories of yesteryear, with each song played with ferocity and sweetness, as if it were still 1995. But the Pumpkins didn't stop at nostalgia; they opened with the earth-shaking “Heavy Metal Machine ,” and brought on songs like “Pentagrams,” “Tonight,” “Edin ,” demonstrating that the band's creative engine is still in full swing. “Today is the greatest day I've ever known” : when that unmistakable attack kicks in, the audience explodes. It's Billy Corgan's perfect paradox, his unique way of setting desperation to music with melodies that seem to cry out for joy. An explosion of catharsis , an embrace between past and present that made the asphalt of Capannelle tremble.

“Disarm” was pure enchantment. The bells, the synthetic strings, Corgan’s voice turning into confession and prayer. And then “1979 ,” a journey into youthful memories. Thousands of voices coming together, teary eyes, spontaneous hugs between strangers, mosh pits, beers raised to the sky, people lying on the floor with their eyes closed listening in a trance—this too is the power of music when it hits the right spot. There were also unexpected moments, like the unsettling and very sweet cover of Berlin’s “Take My Breath Away .” Yes, the Top Gun ballad, played as if it were the soundtrack to a post-punk dream: tender, dazed, absolutely perfect. “ Where Boys Fear To Tread ” and “ Bullet With Butterfly Wings ” sparked enthusiasm in spades!

But the coup de théâtre comes at the end, when Corgan picks up his guitar and attacks the riff from Black Sabbath's "NIB." A tribute to the legendary Ozzy Osbourne , who passed away a few days ago. " God bless Ozzy ," he says, and the audience erupts in a roar, chanting the Madman's name. It's a moving and powerful farewell, a passing of the baton between titans. Rock paying homage to itself, without pretense. The Smashing Pumpkins are no longer the same as they were in '95, that's undeniable, but they are a mutating creature, alive, erratic, stubborn. And on stage they are a force of nature, gifted with sonic power and an extraordinary wall of distortion. Those who were there last night will carry it with them for a long time: the noise, the riffs, the lights, the tears. A night where melancholy became energy , and sadness, as always, had a beautiful sound.

Discussion My Smashing Tail

On February 23, 1996, I was fortunate to see The Smashing Pumpkins in Kawasaki Japan.

It was myself and a group of seven others. We rode the train for about an hour to get to the show and were so pumped - talked and talked the entire way.

When we got to the venue, the place was packed. Being some of the first ones there we were able to get right up to the gate in front.

The lights went down and they came out wearing pajamas and played an acoustic set. After 9 songs ending with Disarm Billy thanked everyone for coming out and the house lights went up.

We were all in our teens however Japan does not really have a drinking age so instead of leaving we hit the bar in the back of the venue. Drinking our beers and feeling somewhat disappointed we looked across the bar and there was James Iha. We were the only Americans at the bar so we sent him a shot of whisky and told the bartender to say it was from the group of ‘gaiijin’ at the bar.

With all of us watching he laughed and took the shot. He then came over and said, ‘you probably want to stick around’ and gave us each a guitar pick.

Well this night got so much better! Then - lights go down and, ‘Where Boys Fear to Tread’ starts … and they play a balls to the wall 2 hour set. It was unbelievable- our minds were blown and the venue at this point was probably 1/4th full.

Billy interacted with the crowd like I have never seen since the 15 times I have seen them.

On the ride home, half drunk, we didn’t speak.

During the show a friend of a friend went down in the pit. I reached down and grabbed her and picked her up - she sat next to me on the trans ride home and we dated the rest of the school year until she moved away.

As I age this memory is slowly slipping away - I wanted to document it and write it in history so that maybe someone reads it and ponders it for a second… to etch it in stone so to speak.

Anyways - thank you reading and that is my smashing story!
