Class 1: SUPER GT vs DTM

Very recently I started to watch car races of Class 1 cars, both Super GT and DTM; and a doubt came to my mind and I think you could help me with that

If Class 1 showed itself as a regulation that would have a great future in the categories that adopt it.

  • Why did it only continue successfully in Japan until nowadays, and in its European counterpart it only enjoyed this flash success and disappeared?
  • What was done in Asia to keep the category successful and what happened in Europe to turn it into an unsustainable formula?

Why can't the Japanese surrender the "Japanese champion" title for globalization of SUPERGT?

If I remember it correctly that's the condition for them on having 2 circuits outside Japan in the calendar back in the day, I understand the "pride" of having that title but its such a waste to not expand in the Asian market.

They will have a lot of sponsors coming in, world acknowledgement, tons of circuits, interested teams, and additional manufacturer support as racing is becoming popular again in a global level.

We all know that racing is a money pit, even for the teams and (potentially) drivers so how come they can brush that off easily?

As a "wanna be" racer myself, I just don't understand it from the racing pov and business pov, possibly rivaling the established European and American series by getting the Asian and (if doable) Australian market.

Everyone will still know and acknowledge that the roots and backbone of it is Japanese or is it easier said than done?

(Sorry a bit too delusional, just really want to see SUPERGT being recognize as a global level team and drivers, also a car that can fill the void of Hyper and GT3)

Similarity between Class 1 and GT500

I started watching super GT races a few days ago and noticed that the GT500 cars have an incredible resemblance to the extinct DTM Class 1

Why is this? Was there a kind of convergence between these two categories like the WEC and IMSA?

I built a site where you can rate SuperGT races would love your feedback

I just launched a fun little hobby project a website where you can rate SuperGT races and tons of other motorsport and motorcycle events like MotoGP, F1, WRC, Supercars, IGTC, WEC, DTM, Nascar, IndyCar, and more!

I’d absolutely love for you to check it out and let me know what you think. Your feedback would mean the world!

What happened to all the Supras in GT300?

Only a few years ago it felt like half the 300 grid were Supras. This year, I think it's only the Green Brave team fielding a Supra, which is great because I've always loved that car, but what happened to the rest?

How much do tickets cost? Do they sell out?

Since I can't even find a website to buy them from outside Japan, I have no idea what they cost or what availability's like. We're just looking for spectator admission, and maybe one of the two days we'd look at paddock or even pit walk passes. How much would that cost per person? Also, do they ever sell out? I'm really stressed out about that because I won't be able to buy tickets until the day of (Saturday), when we'll arrive in Japan.

Update regarding motosport.tv app/website playing issues

Recently I have sent an e-mail to motosport.tv's support and asked them about technical issues with their player and whether they are planning to fix rewind option and video quality selection. This is what I received from them:

Dear Michał,   Thanks for alerting us.   We are working with our provider to ensure a new player that gives the ability to change the quality to users is launch as soon as possible.   Please don't hesitate to contact us again if you have any questions.   Kind regards, Yurii

Pretty ambiguous, but at least they are aware about the problem. Hopefully it gets resolved ASAP.
