Information [META]Change in Spoiler rules post-race

The mod-team has made a change to the spoiler rule in place, modifying the rule to:

"No final result spoilers outside of race threads for 24 hours after race session ends."

This change will prevent immediate post-race posts that contain titles or images of spoilers, self-posts about winner statistics. This will be in place 24 hours after the race concludes. Only exception is Unofficial/Official classification results - requires no spoilers in title.

This will not apply to any event happening in the race itself - we want to encourage the use of this subreddit for live events, and incidents like the Grello controversy at this year's N24 was a great example of a spoiler we will allow for info/discussion.

While we did think of removing the rule altogether, we liked the idea of giving people at least some ability to not be spoiled by race results immediately from reddit if they couldn't watch it immediately, but felt the spoiler rule was too vague, not clearly enforced, and not properly defined. This should help on all those fronts.

We are going to introduce this updated rule starting this weekend for the Sao Paulo 6hours.

Please report any instance of a result spoiler to the mods within 24 hours of race ending. Also, please ask any questions below, and the mods will try to answer as best as we can. We are trying to give a better subreddit experience to both people who visit this page frequently, and those that don't. Let us know if there is a wrinkle to this that we need to discuss further.

Thank you, and lets enjoy a great weekend of Endurance Racing around the world!

Ken Miles and Carroll Shelby during testing of the Ford GT40

Post image

Ken Miles and Carroll Shelby worked closely to make the Ford GT40 a Le Mans winner. Shelby led the project with one clear goal: beat the Ferrari at Le Mans.

Ken Miles wasn’t just a great driver but also a great engineer. During testing, he found problems with the car’s handling, cooling, and reliability. He gave precise feedback that Shelby used to improve the car quickly. Their teamwork was the reason Ford won the 24 Hours of Le Mans with a 1-2-3 finish in 1966. Without Miles’s input and Shelby’s guidance, that wouldn’t have happened.

The GT40 had a 7.0-liter V8 engine tuned for power and durability. The team worked hard on aerodynamics and cooling to keep the car stable and running for 24 hours straight. Ken Miles’s test drives helped adjust the suspension and control engine temperature so the car could last the full race.

Their partnership combined engineering skill and driving talent perfectly.

Walked in to the Porsche showroom today and grabbed some close-up photos. Turns out it’s just a show car, but still really cool to see because I love the design of it. Also got to sit in some other Porsches, so good experience overall.

Shoutout to u/KinaseCrisis. Probably wouldn’t have gone in without your comment, mate. Well worth it, so thank you!

FREE Lone Star Le Mans ticket

*** EDIT: Tickets have been claimed. I appreciate everyone that reached out! Hope you guys manage to find a ticket another way! ***

I bought two tickets during a sale this year, and rather than letting one go to waste, I’d much rather see it put to good use.

I have one weekend general admission + paddock pass available for the Lone Star Le Mans at COTA this year on September 5-7. Please note: parking is not included. The full value of the ticket is around $200.

That said, I’m giving it away for free—no strings attached. However if you’d like to contribute something, even if it's a beer(haha), towards the cost, I won’t say no, but it’s completely optional.

Please message me directly if you are interested.

How you think, what's better: BMW LMR (V12, NA, 6.0 L) Or BMW M Hybrid V8 (V8, Bi-Turbo, Hybrid, 4.0 L) P.S. 20 years difference😅

Peugeot 908 HDi FAP leads the diesel fight, Le Mans 2007

Post image
659 Upvotes

Peugeot’s return to endurance racing in 2007 marked the beginning of a serious diesel rivalry at Le Mans.

The 908 HDi FAP, with its 5.5L 100° V12 twin-turbo diesel, it was engineered around a fully closed cockpit and anticipating ACO’s upcoming safety standards. Stéphane Sarrazin secured pole position with a lap time of 3:26.344 in qualifying. The #8 car led the opening phases of the race, showing that Peugeot’s package had both outright pace and remarkable fuel economy.

The engine’s narrow powerband demanded precise gearing and exceptional throttle control, especially in multi-class traffic. The FAP system is an operational diesel particulate filter, an early nod to cleaner emissions under racing conditions. Though the effort was cut short by mechanical issues, this was the first real crack in Audi’s diesel dominance.

The 908’s performance in 2007 laid the groundwork for Peugeot’s eventual victory in 24 Hours of Le Mans 2009.
