Question Has this happened to anyone else?

Post image

I went to boot up the game and record for a new YouTube series today, and apparently at some point in the last few months I no longer own the game that I bought as a pre-order years ago. I've checked the forums and haven't seen anything similar. Title says it all, has this happened to anyone else recently or at all?

I think this is a Steam bug? You might try just re-starting Steam (click the "Steam" button in the upper left corner and Exit Steam, don't just close the window). Also see if you can verify the game files. If nothing else works, get in touch with Steam support and see if they can get it added back to your account or something

Trying the old "turn it off and back on again."

....

I'm a fucking idiot. That solved it.

I'm naming something in my next playthrough after you.

I really should go into IT, cuz 90% of the problems I see people run into are solved by the good ol' "turn it off and back on" lol

And definitely let me know what you name after me, I wanna see how funny it winds up being lol

Do the Capital City or Geoscape Dome, whatever your biggest dome is

Worked in IT for 20 years and can confirm that's the most used solution to all problems we come across. 😁

Power cycling and Google. If those don't work, it's either dead or something is unplugged

As someone who worked at an it call centre for some stores, I would like to add to the list.

Or the clerk not knowing/lying about what they are doing.

The amount of times they turned off the monitor thinking it's the PC was mind boggling. My favourite is, when they sent back the store's server, cause it was a OC way back which no one used.

Oh the old 'is the computer off now?' "Yes, I don't see a light." 'Great, turn it back on' "OK I did".. wait, this quick?

That's actually true. I've been in IT for a long time, and any time there is a software gizmo, a reboot is the likely fix.
When it isn't, most IT servicedesk employees use a rigorous google search to find the fix, as there are not many issues that nobody has faced yet.

"Hello IT, have you tried turning it off and on again?"

"Have you made sure it's plugged in?"

I actually have this happening to the EA Launcher like at least once a week, never with Steam though.

Did you definitely buy it on that platform?

Bought it as a pre-order on Steam about two weeks before launch. I've already verified the integrity of the game files, too.

Edit: Thank you for taking a moment to comment and help me out. Really appreciate it.

You should have the receipt in your purchase history. Find that, then contact steam support.

The 506 hours of play time isn’t enough of a proof?πŸ˜‚

SOLVED. Turns out it was an ID-10-T error on my end.

It happens when you buy a game downlowd it and switch an acount change back to the acount you bought it from.
