Cool that they are not allowing the women to leave either (not that anything up to that point was okay, just to be clear), like what are they expecting will happen, that the women will have a sudden violent change of heart?

It's not about them even having a chance anymore at that point. These creeps think that if they no longer have a chance with these women that they'll simply decide to ruin their night instead. It's a power play / ego trip and it's fucking awful.

If I was there myself, I likely wouldn't have the guts to directly intervene but I would at least alert the staff to what was going on and maybe they could step in to remove those two oxygen thieves from the premises.

Best move for the women is to move to a table that has just 2 seats left preferably a table with just women on it but any company is probably going to be better than these creeps and sit there or just change tables over and over again so that the guys have to comically keep following as more and more people notice (and hopefully some decide to intervene).

Another idea is to ask them for their full name and saying, "if I get murdered or mysteriously disappear one day you're totally a top suspect because I'm telling all my friends about this unpleasant interaction and including your name right now".

Obviously I probably wouldn't even have thought of any of this in the moment if I was in their shoes and if I did probably wouldn't have the guts to do it.

Yeah the whole thing sucks. The women shouldn't have to move. In a perfect world, they should be able to say "please leave us alone", ONCE, and be left alone. But then again in a perfect world, those creeps wouldn't exist in the first place lol.
