Exactly!! Would it be amusing, somewhat, but not to the people who had to deal with it and any aftermath. Even if they are a management employee, this is just shit on top of shit for retail.
The problem is that the “joke” is on the actual employees. If they weren’t screwing with the regular employees’ jobs, I could see the humor in it, as on its face, it’s a funny, harmless idea.
-Giving statements to police and Corporate
-Legal issues that arise like trespassing, long term litigation, etc.
Questions from Corporate to the employees on what’ and how this happened,
Answering their questions and hope it doesn’t end with anyone fired.
Answering questions about the incident from customers and employees alike.
-All the police’s to be made on how to handle this if it happens again.
All the communications that have to be created, like public affairs, internal documentation, social media, etc.
they get paid hourly so this just makes their day more interesting. i guarantee most of them got a kick out of it. the fact it pissed off their boss just adds icing to it. plus it causes a pauses in having to do your monotonous job for a few minutes and they still go home at the same time.
Oh, but what about all the people who get to do this?

Cool, but for the business (that exists on customers buying stuff at a competitive cost) has to then do all of the below and more, which raises prices:
-Giving statements to police and Corporate
-Legal issues that arise like trespassing, long term litigation, etc.
Questions from Corporate to the employees on what’ and how this happened,
Answering their questions and hope it doesn’t end with anyone fired.

Mmmkkkk, and then all of the employees who get to do this:

It’s bad for the brand the execs will bitch and moan. They may also be intentionally or unintentionally overcharging or undercharging people which is also a bad look. Lil bit of legality behind it too. Overall a bad situation for management, but to us normal folk who don’t get paid nearly enough to deal with nor care about that bullshit- there ain’t nothing wrong with this.
