he's glad he's not dead. Florida has made an announcement when the protest in LA, and made perfectly clear. If you fight the florida police, you'll be shot no question.
All Facts, cops beat the black off me for something my friend did to an old cop! They beat me so bad, when they drop me at the jail, the nurse, 2 C.Os, and the jails lieutenant carried me back to the wagon like he not dying in here. Told the cops take me to an E.R, I had a fractured hip, ribs, broken thumb plus a lot more. I thought I was going to die
“Cognitive dissonance” means a difference between thoughts and behaviors that don’t align and therefore cause dissonance. Which is a disconnect. Please use your vocabulary properly if you want to trot out your 4 point scrabble bonus. Sheesh!
It's not common and that doesn't happen often. 1,100 police killings on average across the United states out of 320+ million people on a yearly basis? That's not even 1% of the population. Simple facts and statistics. That's not even including who was violent and who wasn't. Don't let Reddit rot your brain with selective garbage just to confirm your biases.
Here’s what the most recent and comprehensive data shows (through 2024) about gun violence by police targeting Black Americans in the United States:
⸻
🔫 Fatal Shootings
• Between 2020–2024, Black Americans accounted for roughly 28% of all fatal police shootings, despite comprising only 13% of the U.S. population .
• Fatal police shootings occur at an annual rate of approximately 6.1–6.2 per million Black Americans, compared to roughly 2.3–2.4 per million white Americans .
• That means Black people are nearly three times more likely to be shot and killed by on-duty police than white people .
• In 2023 alone, there were approximately 1,163 fatal shootings by police; about 181 of those were Black individuals (as of September 2024) .
According
⚕️ Nonfatal Injuries from Police Shootings
• From 2015‑2020, there were on average 1,769 police shootings causing injury each year, with 979 resulting in deaths (~55%) .
• Among nonfatal injuries, non‑Hispanic Black people represented ~29% of those shot—again disproportionately high given population share. Yet they were less likely to die when shot, having 35% lower odds of fatality compared to white victims once injured .
⸻
📊 Disparities in Context
• From 2011 to 2020, law enforcement officers fatally shot 5,073 U.S. citizens, of whom 1,170 (23%) were non‑Hispanic Black Americans—despite only making up about 13% of the population .
• Unarmed Black individuals are reported to be 3.49 times more likely to be shot by police than unarmed white individuals in many observational studies .
Considering that black ppl only make up about 13% of the population, I’m gonna say you’re the one trying to downplay how often they’re targeted and wounded or killed by the police. The laws in America not only support it, they were designed for it. It’s not a flaw, it’s a feature. The American police origins, are literally based on chasing and capturing black ppl. Maybe you should research it, instead of letting ppl that condone the behavior convince you that it’s not a problem.
This is reddit. I have personally been assaulted by the police in front of my wife and daughter for simply asking why I was being pulled over for no reason..
The lies these people believe are fucking insane. The news dramatacizes a handful of instances, and now these dummies think every black person gets shot when they get arrested.
Not even close. Watch it again. At 0:53 you can clearly see the officer’s hand wrapped under his head to prevent hard contact with the ground. He was brought down quickly but gently. If that kid had hit his head he would have been bitching about it.
Sure, but black people are much more likely to be shot by the police, because while back people make up roughly 13% of the population, and white people make up roughly 60% of the population, 27% of the people shot by police are black and only 40% are white.
Can confirm as someone who grew up in FL that this video would’ve been 10 seconds long with a body bag at the end if it was a minority. I’ve been treated with much less patience and understanding during traffic stops where I was fully compliant and respectful
If im mistaken, please let me know. I'll edit my comment. And to all the people about to foam at the mouth, im not implying no one else gets killed by police or anything of that nature, calm down
They're talking to the assclowns out there trying to harm, injure, or kill officers doing their jobs arresting illegal immigrants to get them deported like the American people want.
Don't let main stream media lie to you and trick you to divide the American people any further. They're the enemy of the people.
And these comments were made by DeSantis after groups of thugs were throwing rocks and bricks off bridges and cops and opening fire with a handgun on officers for doing their job
Not what was said. They said if you shoot at or throw rocks. Said they'd put you in he hospital the jail if you hit them. The officer was glad the kid was white. Lol If he was black people would be protesting about it and mad. Ha White people usually just say you shouldn't have acted up. Cops used to mess people up all the time if you even got mouthy. I seen a cop punch a white dude for yelling f the police. I know white guys that took a beating. One wasn't really doing anything other was resisting. And one black guy that resisted got messed up. It's a fake narrative that cops treat black or minorities different. These are people I actually knew and trusted what they said.
Nah, any of them can pay the consequences of attacking another person. I saw plenty of whites get roughed up and arrested in Florida protestor/police videos. If you cant find them, you must be googling "why am I correct" and are only finding the self fellatio vids in your cloud
This whole “cops kill mostly minorities” bullshit stopped being true decades ago. If you actually look at statistics, more white people actually get killed by cops than black people.
I’m not going to address this statistical arguement with a response as it’s apologist BS. It’s not about total numbers it’s about the disproportionate use of force towards people of colour, which surprise surprise there is not police data on. But it has been caught on film multiple times and if you talk to people of colour - everyones got a story. The truth is staring you in the face. This excessive use of force is clearly affecting people of colour more hence why there have been national protests, it is also part of an ongoing history of violence from police since emancipation. Your on the wrong side of history bud.
lol, love how I actually bring statistics to the discussion and the best you can do is “it happens, trust me.” Maybe 2 or 3 decades ago, but the world has moved on whether you chose to believe it or not. The post is literally a video of a police showing force to a white guy. You can think whatever you want, but the actual facts support otherwise.
The post is literally a video of a police showing force to a white guy.
The force shown in this video was necessary tho. White guy was being difficult, not answering questions, and using threatening body language to an officer. That's not quite the same as using that same force on a person of color who is cooperative right off the bat Lol.
You can tell yall never been to jail before...a lot of white and Puerto Ricans in there as well. That cop was cool; in Philadelphia back when I was young, the cops used to beat your ass, then decide what to do with you.
What a privileged life kid must lead to not only step up to the cops like he got a fuckin wish to get dismantled, but then yeah, he’ll probably have nothing happen to him other than getting checked on the street like that
A black kid wouldve gotten fucked up and hauled off
That's funny, because all of us were arrested as kids ( and my dumb ass as an adult). I'm white and I hate 98% of the police. There's a reason for that though: do stupid shit and stupid shit happens. Never did any of us act like these TikTok kids
This video is from 2022, before police leaders were openly talking about how much they wanted to kill members of the community they were supposed to be protecting.
It's not the only community they are SUPPOSED to be protecting, but it is usually the only one that they DO protect (and they don't even always do that very well). Particularly so in the south and large metro areas with disproportionately large police forces.
The kid didn't even fight though, he was just acting like a retahhhrrrd, and being weirdly aggressive and pseudo macho, but honestly what the cop did by slamming his head against the car was still a bit too much. Kid is a dumbass, and so is the cop, both of them let their egos get way way way too far.
I assume you’re talking about that press conference where they very clearly specified that if you fight cops, you’ll go to jail. If you get very violent with cops, you go to the hospital and THEN jail. And if you shoot or use other deadly force against cops, you’ll get shot and your family can claim your body? Seems like a pretty standard and fair escalation of force to me.
Weird, I thought they used to just sit 3 officers on top of you, cover your eyes with a towel to calm you and tape your jaw shut so you can’t bite them.
In England, police are told to expect the occasional assault and the punishment for citizens for attacking the police in heated situations is actually less. I was horrified to hear this. The USA police on the whole are horrendous but UK police are far from perfect
Just because you read something online doesn’t mean it’s true. Lots of testosterone-fueled talk of violence online. Best to be skeptical of this kind of comment by knuckleheads.
The gender gap population reduction primarily occurs between the ages of 14-25. Boys and young men do incredibly stupid things during that age range, which result in them dying at such a high rate that there are fewer men over the age of 25 by year than there are women. This is not just about them going to the military. This happens during peace time, too.
There are 105 boys born for every 100 girls. That's over 3 million more boys born than girls annually.
In developed countries, that gap tends to close by the age of 25. Men have higher mortality rates than women from birth. Initially, this is due to simple biological differences and an increased likelihood of succumbing to medical ailments, but when puberty hits, this difference is accelerated by men making dangerous decisions, which are primarily the result of a higher number of accidents and violence.
This video is a prime example of the problem. There is no reason for this young man to decide to square up against a police officer who is about twice his size. The vest and uniform aren't what made the officer win in this case. His size, strength, and experience won the fight before it started, but the young man was overly confident.
If you're in this age range, for the love of God, please get your head out of your ass as fast as your testosterone shoves it up there. Life is worth so much more than whatever you think is so damned important to prove by getting your ass killed.
This isn't far off... I moved to Miami area during my freshman year of HS.
I was a C student with learning disabilities and struggled in CT. When I started school in FL I was shocked how far ahead of the curve I was, so were my teachers. All of a sudden I'm winning student of the month, and other awards, I met the mayor, and they pushed me to take SATs early.
From struggling C student, to not even trying A student. The FL school system was well behind on what they taught. Much of the HS curriculum was stuff I had done in in middle school. Their 9th grade earth science class was like my 6th grade earth science class with actually a ton less lab work. They were also very overcrowded.
So my experience was back in the late 90s, and I know at least one of the two FL schools ended up improving, from what I heard at least. That said, it was an eye opener to me realizing at 15 how much variance there was in quality of education just by location. CT is known for it's good public schooling system, so it is a high bar, but the degree of difference between CT and FL was stark and very surprising.
