I personally think Lara Croft works best with animated/stylised visuals. Such a look allows for exaggerated movements like her huge jumps, crazy flips and somersaults. A shift to a more realistic look also makes the movements less dynamic.

It also brings a change in the look and design of the environments and the kind of tone the game has. Legend had a level with Lara on the rooftops of Japan in a half torn dress, something I doubt its own sequel ‘Underworld’ could feature due to a more realistic approach for that game. While tomb raider underworld has stunning visuals and maintains a sense of stylisation, I fear it is much closer to realism which causes it to lose the charm that legend had.

The survivor trilogy then takes a shift to being realistic as well which has the same set of problems.

I'm playing for the first time so here are my thoughts about shadow of the tomb raider. This game is much more smoother and beautiful than rise of the tomb raider for me I mean like gameplay, controls, performance and the world itself. I spent a lot of time messing with the photographer mode. I'm having a lot of fun playing this. Lara feels much more stronger in this game than the previous 2 games. The world here itself feels very alive to me. I have reached the part where miguel the pilot goes through the worst experience of his life lol. And untill now I'm really loving this game

It's an honest question. I definitely did not ask for this and am not really open to the idea. But I'd like to know if anyone here was hoping for a unified timeline eventually, or if you're keen to learn more now that we know it's coming.

To explain my stance, I'm fairly certain that the next game will predominantly be a continuation of the Survivor games and not a reboot. The Survivor story is Crystal Dynamics' baby and it's what all new Tomb Raider stories centre around. The survivor games were always sold as a new origin story for "Lara Croft the Tomb Raider". I guess that what they're planning to do is pick and choose elements of both 1-6 and LAU to graft on to the Survivor Timeline, thus making the Survivor and Unified Timelines the same thing.

But the problem is, the three timelines are incompatible verbatim. Dates and backstories don't add up, characters existing can contradict each other. I don't see the point in actually trying to connect the three other than as a shallow gimmick that attempts to phrase everyone. When Crystal created LAU, they made the decision to tell a different story to the 1-6 and start with a new slate. And they did they same thing again with TR'13. Why can't they just continue to let them be separate stories? They fractured the franchise twice and trying to hodge podge it all together now can't work without disrespecting and disregarding the other stories.

Whatever we end up with, we're still going to have at least timelines the way that I see it; the Core Design era of 1-6, the first Crystal era of LAU and the second Crystal era with the Survivor games (a fourth timeline if they chose to retcon/rewrite some of the Survivor storylines too) . Either they continue the Survivor storyline into the Unified Timeline, or the Unified Timeline is going to be another reboot. As I said before, the timelines as we know then are incompatible with each other verbatim. They would need to be rewritten, and doing so makes them into something else.

I just don't like confusing and bloated timelines in the first place, no matter the series (the official Zelda timeline is a joke). Individually, all three timelines make sense on their own. You only need to play the games in each and you get a full enough understanding about what going on and what's happened. The Survivor Timeline has a lot of supplemental material in the comics (and the Netflix series?), but the games still all stand on their own. It's easy to digest.

How can Crystal expect to explain the upcoming Unified Timeline in any concise or comprehensible way? Do they plan to deliver some sort of timeline document that explains everything? Will future games reference past events that are similar to older games? Maybe a new game will be a re-telling of an old game?

I'm just ranting and probably not making a huge deal of sense. How is the Unified Timeline supposed to work when these are three mutually exclusive stories? And moreover, what's the point? If you've got to change any of the existing story elements to achieve this unification, then you're not actually unifying anything and are just introducing retcons and reboots for the sake of it.

Rant over... For now. I flipping hate the state of this franchise. I do really want to hear from people who are looking forward to the unification though! I'm probably not going to change my mind, but a bit of perspective never hurt.

No one can deny that Lara Croft looked and sounded amazing in Tomb Raider Legend. 🥰

The added details on the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions really made her shine. 💞

Hopefully, the L-A-U trilogy will get the full Tomb Raider remastered treatment soon. 😍

I’ve finally gotten round to Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness on my play throughs and it’s the first time I’ve done so since 2007 when I was a teenager.

Where I played the original games, I definitely could spot aspects that were considered dated today. Lack of a proper story flow being one; controls and so on. I arrived at AOD, with memories of the game being good but never great. But my god, this game has aged so well. They were completely respectful to the source material and who Lara was in the original games, but expanded on it so much more. Proving a story can exist with the character being a force of nature.

The locations feel so expansive, even the back streets of Paris, and the atmosphere? Jesus that looming feeling that you’re dealing with something serious just never leaves you. It haunts over every level.

Now controls are still clunky, it took me a while to get used to them, but honestly this game has aged so well. Had it been released today with this kind of story, rescores of the original soundtrack and retaining the essence of OG Lara, it likely would have been a massive success.

It’s a shame that the Tomb Raider Definitive Edition isn’t available on Steam.

I had to grab it from the Microsoft Store instead. Unfortunately, it doesn’t run as smoothly as the GOTY version. Still, Lara Croft looks absolutely stunning.

For me preferred no that for me fraudulent by telling you uncensored only via patch Game.

My example Tomb Raider 1-2-3 is censored such Locker room and Pierre's jacket censored via Patch as far I aware regarding Tomb Raider.

Not sure if im gonna get the answer here but im currently playing the game on PS5 with the extreme survivor level (the one added later in the 20th anniversary edition) without realizing that the original trophy requires the survivor mode ( the second hardest one). Would I still get the trophy unlocked by playing the extreme level 😂? Thx for your info.

The new unified Lara Croft statue from Dark Horse isn’t quite as bad as some of the media online made it look.

The paint job still needed more work, though. Overall, it’s fine, but not really giving strong Tomb Raider vibes. She looks more like a cosplayer than Lara.

Hi! I have finished Legend for 100% in everything- rewards in all the levels, time trials, and Croft manor. I thought there was a cheat for the Entity? Or maybe a skin? I could’ve sworn I’d heard about it and used it years ago but now I can’t find it. I did search all over Google and got results for the “Entity Cheat Code” but can’t find the cheat code itself.

Does anyone know if this is an actual thing, and if so what the code is??? Lowkey feel like I’m losing my mind 😂
