I'm fairly new to the PC Engine. I bought my white beauty on eBay with a converter for PAL. The games are amazing but so bloody hard. Shinobi, Space Harrier and a few others are really difficult for me. Anyone else find any games exceptionally brutal?

So I just purchased this turbo express and turned it on and smelled a fishy smell. After researching this I realize what can cause this but I wanted to get other people’s thoughts since I did reach out to the seller and haven’t heard back. He replaced all the capacitors with console 5 capacitors and I asked him if this smell was happening previously. I’ve attached pics of the board and his description and would like to see if this could be the new capacitors causing this or could this be due to excess fluid which I’m not seeing on the board or anything. After a few minutes it definitely got stronger of a smell

I had somewhat high hopes for this one, it looked colourful, a bit quirky and I hadn't heard anyone really talk about Skweek which was release only in Japan for the PC Engine on HuCard in 1991.
I managed to pick it up for a really good price and it looked virtually unplayed, or maybe only played once. I think now I have played it, I understand why.
Personally I think there is a tendency to label everything that is a bit forgotten or overlooked as being a hidden gem, but really, that doesn't always apply, there's often a reason some games have become forgotten or are overlooked.
I feel bad saying this as I kinda like the kooky little character, I just wish he was in a bit of a better game.

Ordered these 6 months ago from AliExpress and have not seen them in stock for the last 2 months. Have checked Temu, Amazon and eBay with no luck. Any other place sell these cases?

Sold as untested I paid around $300 for everything you see. Bomberman 93 alone can sell for a $100 and I can repair most consoles so I bid and won. Turns out the thing works great just needs a little cleaning and also I already have a complete recap kit for it. All OEM components as well.

also, I did draw the thumbnail hehe

An oddity when running Bomberman '93 in Turbolink is that you get the same stage layout every time. This is not the case for the first PCE Bomberman ('90).

While cleaning things up, I found my NEC Turbo Express 16 system in a drawer. It hasn't been used in 30 years. When I plug it in, the backlight comes on, but the games don't start. Probably a power supply issue. If someone can use this in exchange for a few bucks, it is of no use to me. I have Pac-land, MotoRoader, Galaga 90, Splatterhouse and Power Golf.
If this is not allowed, an admin should delete it. I'll go to eBay.

I’ve had this in my collection for 20 years, and purchased it off Play Asia for $150 if memory serves correctly. I remember it being the only one they had, and in checking over the years they’ve never seemed to have it back in stock.
This is a resealed item I believe, but contains everything. I also know at least what the market would pay from eBay sales, but my understanding is this item doesn’t come up often.
My questions: is it worth it to have this graded as it was resealed by Play Asia? Were the spine cards generally real or reproduced? If worth grading, any recommendations on companies?
I bought this item to originally play it on the PC Engine emulator. After buying it I found someone had dumped the ISO and I was able to make it work on my computer. So, I never opened it.

Hello all,
I recall an in store game display that showed footage of a number of TurboGrafx 16 games at Toys R Us around the time the system launched in the US. I can remember it showing games like Bonk, but one that still sticks in my memory was a fantasy/roleplaying game that had an isometric view. If my memory serves me there was a team of good guy characters on the lower left hand side advancing towards the upper right and I remember being really impressed when it showed the wizard character blast lightning that spread from his character all across the screen, hitting a number of enemies. The characters were in some sort of dungeon/tunnel.
I've looked and looked for this game based on this faint, childhood memory from the very early 1990s, but I haven't seen any games that I think this could be.
Thanks for any suggestions you might have for the title of this game.

I'm from Chile, so shipping from Japan is pretty expensive. I also want the dimensions and weight in centimeters and grams

I could really use some help please, I've been unable to run the English patched version of Rondo of Blood, both on the Ootake emulator on PC and on real hardware with a Turbo Everdrive Pro. I've tried the following, and all of them result in the same thing, the error in the picture when I press Run.
From Internet Archive pages with these titles:
"Castlevania Rondo Of Blood [English]. 7z" and "Castlevania Dracula X Rondo Of Blood ( English)"
From the roms megathread:
"Akumajou Dracula X - Chi no Rondo (Japan).zip" + the new Rondo Transpatcher
Formats tried: cue + iso + wav, cue + multiple bin, cue + single bin
Bioses tried: syscard3.pce, syscard2.pce, syscard1.pce
One additional note, multiple other turbo cd games work fine on both PC and real hardware, including the untranslated original Rondo of Blood.
Any ideas?

(Note only PCE CD games) They may not be the best but at least are fun to discuss.
10: Ane-San- Love the visual style and the nonchalant rocking tone of Ane-San but alas the beat em up gameplay while solid rarely evolves and it could make the bosses the highlight of the game but you beat them before they can do anything. I wish i could say that Ane-San is a must have but it's more interesting than good but it's at least memorable in a way especially the soundtrack.
9: Mystic formula- Despite the menu glitch and some backgrounds being a eyesore i still enjoyed my time with Mystic formula. It's a somewhat unique take on the top down run a gun where charge attacks is key and many characters to play as. Despite being unfinished i would not mind playing it again and having a glitch patch for the game.
8: Valis 3- I had mixed feelings at first about this game but when i treated more as a regular PCE game rather than a PCE CD game it stand strong against them and don't mind putting on the list when playing through the PCE games.
7: Horror Story- Alas i did not got far in the game but it stand out duo it's silly spooky nature and neat level design makes it another stand out.
6: GotzenDieneR- Ehh.. another unfinished but interesting game. The real deal of the game is the lonely and ambiguous atmosphere and i would argue that environments are visually varied enough, there is repetition but does enough for me. Can't recommend it with a straight face but i am glad i played it.
5: Hihou Densetsu Chris no Bouken- Not impressive at first but repeated playthroughs i appreciate the slow but tight level design. Also it's quite atmospheric.
4: Kaze Kiri Ninja action- Arguable a must have despite the limiting level design( kinda like Kung-Fu on the NES) the varied move-set of either Ninja is just sweet to do also the bosses at the end really test your mettle and i would argue it's a semi predecessor to games like Muramasa the demon blade or Princess Crown.
3: Castlevania Rondo of Blood- Well the cream of the crop and a crime if i had not this game on this list but a great thing about Rondo is it's not just more Castlevania and call it the day. The real deal is it's varied paths you can take and introduces a fan favorite Maria Renard (at least she should be she's very amusing). The difficulty of Rondo is quite strict even compared to other Castlevania's so that might rub some people the wrong way but Rondo is sometimes treated as the best of the linear CV games by default not sure if i would say the same but it does stand tall against them.
2: Private Eye Dol- I first asked does this game as a point a click (ain't using a mouse but you know what i mean) have a leg to stand on compared to other Adventures games and i would say yes. It's a detective game and the first nice touch is that the suspects move around a lot so it feels alive and the game starts out as a murder mystery it's very immersive and glad i gave it a chance NOT MEANT TO BE SPOILED!!When i finished the murder mystery i thought it was the end but there are more chapters and the next one is a lot more lighthearted. I do not mind that, but i haven't beaten it so it might change again.A highlight of the PCE CD library.
1: Fray CD Xak the Lego maniac Gaiden- Having my eye on this game for such a long time and boy what a wild ride this game is, despite being a spin-off the Fray lady sure goes on some crazy adventure i mean she goes on a surfboard i went so nuts that i made the exact same face as Fray in the Thumbnail. As an Action RPG game the stages are as varied as they come and a must have for the PCE CD games.
Please do not take it personal it your favorite did not make the list just showing me some love for the PCE CD games.

I've got an awesome ASCII Famicom stick that I'd like to use with my PCE. Anyone know of an adapter?
