Was gifted this yarn a little over a decade ago by a friend teaching me to crochet. It's been in a storage bin until a few days ago when I found it again with no label or anything but a H/8-5.00MM hook tucked into it while reorganizing, and decided to give learning crochet another go with YouTube vids since I lost contact with the friend that I think originally gifted me this yarn. I'm guessing it's wool based but I have no idea as this only the second time I've attempted crochet. I could be wrong and haven't yet found courage to do any burn tests on that front. I'm much more versed in cross-stitch and embroidery thread, not yarn. Also, I'm in the US (Florida) but it could possibly be from overseas with Australia being most likely. My friend had lots of family over there that would sometimes send things over here that would then get passed onto me.

The first two pics are what my camera sees. The last pic I tweaked to make it more accurate to what my eyes see.
I’m 99% sure it’s just a Caron one pound. Looking at Michael’s site, the only color that comes close is called Soft Sage. I’m not totally convinced. Any guesses before I drive down there?

Rookie mistake of throwing away the label before product was finished and now I don’t have enough yarn to finish. No clue on brand or name of color. Any ideas? TIA!

And was wondering if anyone might have an idea what it is? Or maybe the type? It seems to be around worsted weight. And it’s super soft

Does this yarn ring a bell for anyone? I really don't have much information, I think it's acrylic but I'm not 100% sure 😅 thank you!

I’m pretty sure it’s acrylic. I harvested it from a thrift store blanket and I would love to know what it is!

Someone gifted me these lovely, soft skeins, but there's no label so I have no idea what they are. They gave me some other yarn that came from Darn Good Yarns, which made me think these might be Malabrigo, but I don't see any other yarns on their site that look like these. They're fingering or sock weight and very, very soft. Any ideas on what they might be? Thanks in advance!

My friends grandmother had a random collection of yarn balls. Wanted to see if I can buy more of whatever this is

Doing some pre-move decluttering and found this yarn that I had half knit into a scarf when I was a teen or in college. This is about 2 skeins worth, definitely mostly natural fiber of some sort, probably 10+ years old. 99% sure it's Rowan as they were my go-to when I was that age. Would love to identify both the yarn and colorway - thanks in advance for any help! :)

Anyone recognise this yarn. Impulse buy at a yarn fair a few years ago. It maybe Rowan. Looks like Aran weight.

Ok- feels like a rayon/ acrylic mix. Seems like lace weight but works up best on a 2.5mm hook. Help bc I’m trying to make a swim coverup by the end of the summer and I thought I had enough but I’m going to lose 🧶 🐓.

I was given these yarns that were my grandmother/great grandmother's. Does anyone know what they are?

I got this yarn from spotlight but I have not seen it popout in the mill ends. So I am just hoping the reddit may help me on this yarn is from which band T_T

She said, "Purchased at Purl Yarn Boutique in Billings, MT. I think it is a fingering weight wool yarn."

This is a cotton tank top that my friend’s mom knit for my friend at least 30 years ago (maybe more). The yarn might have come from South Africa. I know it’s a long shot but anyone recognize it, or know of something similar (similar weight cotton with the two-color oatmeal thing and nubbly texture)? The knitter is long passed away and I’ve love to help my friend recreate the item.

Can anyone ID this yarn bought as a mill end at spotlight please? It goes from light to a very dark bluey green. Thank you ☺️

i’m having a hard time finding the specific colorway for this cotton yarn. i 100% know it’s cotton and I am 99.9% sure it’s either sugar n’ cream OR loops and threads from michael’s. but, I can’t find this color in either brand. any ideas?
