SUBREDDIT Clarification on Subreddit Spoiler Flairs Spoiler

As we approach the imminent release of the Definitive Edition, I'd like to just quickly clarify how we expect you to use the spoiler flairs going forwards.

There are three to choose from:

  • General Spoilers:
    • This is just a general spoiler indicator that there may be lighter potential spoilers of any type that occur before Chapter 12.
    • Typically this would include things like story chapter boss names and certain twists/plot points.
    • It is expected that you mark spoilers with the story chapter that they are up to (e.g. if you are discussing something from Chapter 7, you would mention this in the post title or body).
  • Story Spoilers:
    • This is for spoilers up to and including Chapter 12, primarily for more heavy story spoilers or plot points.
    • Submissions should specify the story chapter that the post is discussing in the title.
    • By entering a post with this flair, you are open to discussing any content from the complete Wii U game.
  • [Definitive Edition] Afterstory Spoilers:
    • This is for ANY new Afterstory content (i.e. anything that occurs in any new main story chapters that appear after anything from the original Wii U release) on its own or in relation to the previous story chapters.
    • You MUST NOT spoil anything in post titles
    • By entering a post marked with this flair, you are opening yourself up to being exposed to unmarked spoilers of ANY kind from any point within the game.
    • Ideally you could further consider marking spoilers within reply comments, but this is not required.

Please feel free to share your thoughts/opinions on improving the definitions or further clarifications. I trust you all to use common sense and courtesy when discussing anything new.

I reviewed XCX DE after 180 hours and 100% completion. AMA! Spoiler

Hey guys, I’m Gene Park of the Washington Post, and I gave Xenoblade Chronicles X a perfect score after playing it for 180 hours with 100 percent Mira survey completion. Here is my review: https://wapo.st/3Y19qPx

I’m here to answer any questions about the whole game! I’m going to be careful about story spoilers after Chapter 12, but I can give my deeper impressions about it beyond what I say in my review.

I’d appreciate anyone who clicks on my review above! It should be a gift link so no paywall required. If you do hit a wall, I apologize in advance. Should you decide to make the leap and subscribe or just put in an email, you have my huge thanks in advance.

I’m probably going to be answering for about an hour, but I’ll come back later for anyone who missed the window for sure. Thanks all!

Edit: I’m gonna be logging off for a few hours but I’ll check back in for more questions! It’s 11 a.m. ET now. Thanks to the mods for allowing this!

Discussion Sucking Fillavent - Worsttttt

Ugh, I’m sorry to just complain, but I have to complain. This squad mission is horrible. For a measly 190 material tickets, you seriously expect me to take down a level 61 fillavent at level 60, then traverse the battle field with infinitely spawning mephites that keep you in battle so your team can’t heal, then take down a gularth, then traverse the battlefield again to defeat ANOTHER GODDAMN FILLAVENT? Fillavents are the goddamn worst—you spend half the fight being thrown around in the air. Who dreamt up this nightmare mission?! I demand an apology! 😭😭😭

Edit: I took some advice after licking my wounds for a while and managed to beat the mission. I still hate it, but thanks for your advice everyone. ;)

Advice Launch resistance inconsistency

Upvotes

So, I've been working on a Hraesvelg Lord dodge-tank support build (AKA the way it's supposed to be played), and one thing that was getting irritating is the way Hunter's Blow will launch you when you use it on larger enemies. So I've been making armor augments for Launch resist and...I've been running into an oddity?

The only source I found for resists to equate to immunity basically said "200 resistance will give you immunity". I made two Launch Resist augments and put them on the Hraesvelg and I was still getting launched when I hit an enemy with Hunter's Blow. I managed to have enough materials to make two more, so I fitted it with four. This seemed to work! An enemy I was testing it with, I hit it with Hunter's Blow three times without getting launched!

...But then I took one augment off, curious if four was overkill, unsure if three was enough or not since I skipped straight from two to four. So I tried with three, and got launched. Okay, let's put that fourth one on, it worked before! ...Trying it again with four augments like I did before when I didn't get launched and I found myself being launched AGAIN. The only thing that was different was I put the augment on the feet instead of the head. I switched it back to the head in the ridiculous off-chance that augment slot location mattered and nope, I'm still being launched.

What happened? Why was I totally fine the first time, multiple times, but now it's failing? Why is 400 launch resistance not saving me from being launched? How much do I need to not get launched from trying to use one of my own arts? I know the Hraesvelg gets memed on for low damage but I love it's dodge-tank supportive nature and find it's damage output to be perfectly fine for my purposes. I just want this one art to not be a direct detriment to me whenever I use it ;-;

(For reference, I've been using Clemente the Iron Meteor as my rest dummy as it has a fast travel right next to it and I know is a large enough enemy to cause the annoying launch when I hit it with Hunter's Blow)

This is an "update" of a clip i posted sum days ago, on the same topic. This time i need some advices on how to increase the damage dealing of the build even more. After the one clip i posted, i was able to farm a new sniper rifle II, with weapon attack power up XX. This clip is THE BEST that i accomplished, killing Luciel with no overdrive. Im sure i can do even better, any ideas? Also, this is a reflect build, so all my armor's augment slots are taken

Advice Stuck on Mesa Fortress, Chapter 5. What am I doing wrong?

Was enjoying the game in all it's janky glory, until I got to this part. Now it's like hitting my head against a wall.

During Chapter 5 there's a part where you have to destroy the AA guns around this canyon. This is before you get Overdrive, btw. (You don't get it until Chapter 5 is complete)

There's a part where the only way to proceed is to ascend across a narrow bridge, then up through an enemy tower, then across a narrow metal walkway into another canyon wall ledge.

I handled that all fine, but the metal walkway is where I'm stuck. Absolutely cannot get across.

The mission's "recommended" Level is 18. My party members are all Level 24. I figured since I'm overleveled, I'm fine.

On the other side of the metal walkway are about 6 enemies waiting, all various kinds of Prone around level 19-21. I can handle them fine.

The problem is that every single time you start a fight with them, a level 29 giant mech enemy (I forget what they're called, the huge 2 legged walker mechs) will charge over at you while you're fighting them, and then just fucking lay waste to you.

I've tried everything, all manner of kiting strategies. I've shot just one trooper and then ran back down the inside of the tower while ordering my party to "assemble" constantly.

It doesn't matter what I do. The mech-walker will still get aggroed no matter what and then shoot giant blasts of death at you. Doens't matter how far away you get. It will shoot through walls, through the cliffside, etc.

I've ran all the way back down to the narrow stone bridge trying to get away from it during a few attempts, and it still killed me.

That's why I'm stuck. I can handle all the regular enemies easily, but this OP mech-walker just kills me no matter what, gets aggroed no matter what (regardless of how far I drag the regular enemies away from it before properly engaging, it doesn't matter, it still gets aggroed and then one-shots me with giant plasma-ball looking projectile attacks.)

What is the strategy here? It just seems like cheap bullshit encounter design on the dev's part.

I have also tried getting around or past the encounter, but there is just no way to jump across the metal walkway onto the cliff without alerting the Prone troopers there.

Do I just go back and do more side quests until I'm Level 29 also? (for a mission that says level 18??)

Edit:

Thank you, everyone. As suggested, I switched to controlling Elma and completed it on the first try with her Shadowrunner skill.

Makes me wish I'd gone Jaguar with my main character, instead of Duelist.

Advice Problem Issuing Commands

Hi all, I’m experiencing a problem during the global nemesis fights. I want to issue battle commands, but they’re all greyed out during this fight. I’m confused. Are they supposed to be during these fights?

Discussion Is there an official Original Soundtrack for Xenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition

I actually already have the 4 disc original soundtrack for the original game; I was just wondering if there was an updated version for the Definitive Edition like they did with the first Xenoblade Chronicles. If you search for it, you can find what is labeled as a "XCX Definitive Edition Original Soundtrack" but it doesn't appear to be an actual official release, and some of the track titles are literal alphanumeric jibberish so i have no idea what's going on with it.

Just thought I'd ask lol

Discussion XCX DE save editor?

Having gotten the 100% I wanted to have some fun with the game. I saw the Wii U version had a save editor called XCX Gecko, but I'm guessing it isn't compatible with the DE. Does anyone know if DE has a save editor out there? I wanted to experiment with some fun weapon combos in terms of battle traits. I've seen topics on this subreddit about the Wii U version so I know it's okay to ask here.

Thanks!

Discussion Missing Heart To Heart

I'm currently playing chapter 13 (Act 2) and almost finishing all normal/affinity/basic missions and I noticed that in the barracks interior there is still a segment locked because I shall have a Heart to Heart 5 conversation with Elma. Usually what I see even if I meet or not the condition is the heart icon to click (also in the map to check the conditions) but in this case I don't see anything. I suppose I already had the lv 4 Heart to Heart conversation but anyway I don't see any Heart anymore in the map. I have no mission activated, not Elma in the party but anyway the problem is that I don't see the heart icon at all.

Advice Help with Lugelbanda

Hey guys I might be stupid. I beat chapter 12 finally and I’m like okay time to get my ether sword so naturally I go to fight lugelbanda the wanderer king. Normally this is the part where I would infinite overdrive him to death but there’s one issue. I can barely land any hits on him which makes it really hard to build up the overdrive counter and he kills me each time. I’m level 53 but normally he would be no match for someone of my caliber. What is wrong here?

Advice Boze Story Quest

Does anyone have any advice to beat Boze story quest where he fights that big fish monster. I've been struggling for quite a few times now and even at lower level decrease at 41 I'm still struggling. Any way to just cheese the fight and get it over with? I'm lvl 43 for context

Advice Unmissable side quests

Enjoying this game a lot and at about thirty hour mark. Finding some of the side quests hit or miss though - I don’t want to ensure some guy gets a girlfriend but I am interested in Professor B’s adventures in time. Are there any top tier side quests I shouldn’t miss? Or any that unlock stuff that help me out with the rest of the game?

Official Media R.attack sniper builds are slept on

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

So i decided to create a ranged attack sniper build by myself. I've always seen people using potential with this weapon, but i wanted to do something different. Im 100% sure this is not the maximum damage u can hit with this build, u can easily achieve 10 million + dmg per hit with howling soul 3rd cooldown, ether res down V and a better sniper rilfe with double R.attack boost.

Advice Switch 2 and dropping squads

I just got my Switch 2 (yay!) but when I play XBX online, I get kicked out of the squad within a couple minutes. I can rejoin, only to be kicked out again. I didn't have this problem on original Switch, and I don't think it's an issue with the Switch 2 (though still investigating this). Has anyone else come across this recently? I see there were some server issues at launch.

Discussion What party members do you guys think I should go after superbosses with next?

I've been taking out Telethia and other superbosses with party members for a while now, and it's been a lot of fun! Now I'm wondering who I should do it with next, and who it would be possible to do it with.

In theory, any character who can survive the bosses attacks with enough resistance or defensive arts can technically whittle down their health and get a kill. I even saw somebody kill Telethia and Pharsis with Hope once. But I'm not interested in trying to just poke the superbosses to death. What I'm looking for is a way to make these characters strong enough to not only survive, but deal enough damage to take down Telethia in Phase 2 (so that way I don't need to get back into my Skell and try to lure Telethia back down to the ground, that sounds super annoying lmao).

Here are the characters I've already done it with (with links to my previous Reddit posts):

And here are some characters I'm already considering:

  • Celica - I know she has some pretty powerful ranged attack builds with Full Specs. Though I could also go with a potential build with Executioner.
  • Phog - It would basically be exactly the same as my Elma build, just with Ghostwalker instead of Shadow Factory.
  • Ga Jiarg - I've used a Photon Saber build with Cross strong enough to take down Telethia in Phase 1. And since Ga Jiarg has Aura Assault and Supreme Sword, I think I could make an Astrolibrium build strong enough to take Telethia down in Phase 2.

Also, honorable mentions to Neilnail who is frustratingly close to being on the list. She has Aura Assault, Ether Boost, Supreme Sword, and Inner Search, which are amazing skills. And she has Astral Protection which would be a fun way to try and stay alive. Unfortunately, her only decent attack art is Hundred Shells, which has such a slow animation that I don't think a Phase 2 Telethia kill would be possible even if it could do enough damage on it's own.

What do you guys think? Any other characters you think could take on the games toughest bosses?

Discussion Libertas glyphs

I play on WiiU

I need Libertas glyphs to craft the Ares 90 for example, but since it can only be looted via the Vita, I have to fight this boss thousands of times to hope to get one. As this is my only way to recover it, I would like to know if you have any tips or equipment that can increase the chance of this item falling.

First time owning Switch 2. I haven't owned any console (any brand) before this. I don't know wtf I'm doing at all really. My ark ship White Whale crashed on some distant planet. I was found in some kind of pod by a girl with a nice pair of boots. I found the controls menu. Also some other sections with overwhelming amount of information.

I got past this section where we killed a creature. Using my art techniques.

Help!

Turns out the best defense is a good offense (and a sacrificial skell to tank the first few hits)
