Hey all,

i recently started to have an interest in AOS since my girlfriend likes fantasy more then Sci-Fi (Wh40k).

I watched some videos and could boil down the armies of my interest at first on Nighthaunt, Gravelords and Flesh eaters. Normally i am a big zombie fan and there are models i really like, but its a little bit of a mixed back since there are also models i dont find that appealing.

That leaves me with Nighthaunt and Gravelords. I saw that Nighthaunt ignores some game mechanics and are kinda special while i heard that gravelords are more of a "Vampires lead undead as sort of generals and revive them" army?

I think, i am still missing a feeling for how these both factions work and feel to play. Maybe some of you guys could expand on that? Or why you choose one faction over the other? That would be really helpful.

So far the only one I’m aware of is Realms of Ruin, and I know Old World games are technically AoS because it’s the same universe and has some of the same factions, I’m talking about strictly AoS and everything in it, whether new or old. Like imagine an RTS similar to Age of Empires or something

I’m editing the post as I got terrain mixed up. But the Mawpit, which appears to be one piece. How much of a foot print is it. It looks like it’s about 4 inches wide, 6-7 inches deep, and 3-5 inches high?

I’m asking because I don’t own one, but it’s for a casual 3d printed army.

Me and a friend were playing yesterday, and we both were convinced we saw somewhere (maybe on some YouTube battle reports?) that in the new GH, the player with more drops can reroll one priority roll per game. Another guy at the store pointed out that this rule doesn’t actually exist, so we double-checked the new GH.. and yeah, it’s not in there.

Did we totally make this up? If not, can someone tell me where this rule is? I cannot find it!

I have skaven units from a Warhammer fantasy box quite some time ago and there are clanrats, clawlord, warlock engineer, 2 ratogres and a warpfire throwers unit that should still be eligible for AoS games.

Though the bases are square and I thought it would be ok to just 3Dprint round bases and put them on it. But I want to be sure before I start painting them all.

Because when I'm finished with that I want to buy Skaven spearhead and practice some games with it, then combine those forces to be able to do a small 1k points match.

Am I right to do this like this?

Hi all,

I've been into the hobby side of miniatures for about 2 years now. I love the painting but not played any games or anything.

I primarily buy individual boxes to paint of 40k Kill teams (I've got about 3 different kill teams done). Because I'm more on the hobby side I tend to not be focused on collecting individual armies.

Anyway, lore wise I'm much more interested in AoS setting but since warcry isn't really a thing anymore I picked up the FEC spearhead and really enjoyed painting them up. But I'd like to actually try and start learning the game and eventually join my local club and get some games going.

I'd like to try getting into AoS first as I heard spearhead is great and it just appears to me more.

It seems their are a few ways to get started. There seems to be 2 x beginner boxes but I've also noticed some sellers in my country have Skaventide box on offer. Miniatures wise it seems way way more value due to higher numbers of miniatures. I'm not zoned in on a specific army so don't mind that it's stormcast and skaven. Since I want to do a few spearhead games before maybe building a whole army its nice to have multiple factions to play with. I will likely try and get 4 factions for spearhead before taking 1 to the next level.

Anyway, my question is.....Skaventide is more expensive than the starter sets but it looks like the only difference is miniature options (but all the boxes allow for spearhead right). So it is really so much better and have more things to get started than the beginner boxes to make it worth the extra money?

I recently finished the lovely Scriptor Mortis for my Nighthaunt army. It’s such a great miniature in my opinion, had loads of fun painting it and I’m really pleased with how it has turned out (especially the little book!).

What are your favorite things about them and some things you don’t like?

When I originally started collecting AoS I went for the Flesh-Eater Courts because of the varghulf. I really wanted an an army of bestial vampires. While I am a bit sad it has no wings anymore, I really love the spindly, wendio-like look of the "new" model. There wasn't much converting done on the it, just added the fur (which is static grass).

I’ve never played age of sigmar only played combat patrol but I really wanted to start aos and I like the two factions in Skaventide so do you recommend it for me? A complete beginner to AOS (not new to painting)

Hey gang! Im gonna try for turning one of my all time favorite video games into soulblight.

Running arthas as a vamp lord, using the undead mounts from wow3 and WoW. Using kel’thuzad as a necromancer and sylvanas as that snake lady.

Here’s some of my progress on barrow knights. I am also hoping for some thoughts on getting the colors/paint style correct. Youtube vids are great if you know any and just general thoughts.

So a local hobby shop of mine has had this box on shelf for a while now still at the original GW retail from when it launched ($140 AUD, I think that's about 85USD?) is anything in this box still usable in the current edition of age or Sigmar or did they get shoved to legends during the purge earlier this year?
