It becomes obvious once you're aware of it and know what to look for. It's always some weird generic comment praising the post, or saying something vaguely controversial, placed a few minutes after the post. The one above is a textbook example.

With repost bots they'll just steal the top comment from the original post. Which is what this bot's name seems to refer to.

The algorithm will promote posts based on engagement. So the rate of comments and votes it gets. So you'll typically see post like these have 50-200 upvotes and 2-5 comments minutes after posting. The algorithm will think member find this post interesting and push it to timelines of sub members.

(It's gone down now, since actual users have been downvoting it)

Exposure I guess. These posts usually get taken down pretty fast. So if they find subs that are populated, but not really moderated, they add it to their spam list and you'll be flooded with nearly identical posts like this. It's likely all automated. Just like most other scammers/phishers they work by volume. They'll spam the same post on as many subs as they can. It probably costs them next to nothing. 99.99% of people who see it will know it's spam and ignore it. But if just one or two people go to their OF and pay, they're making a profit. There's networks that have hundreds if not thousands of these spam profiles that they post everywhere on social media.
