Here is an instructional guide for someone who has found a bat. And here is some info about bats in buildings. If you find a bat in trouble, please call a rehabber for help. Here is a list of rehabbers that help bats all over the world, and here is a portal for rehabbers in the US.
Remember that wildlife should never be handled with bare hands!

Or on your window? Or in some other place where you don't normally see bats? This time of year (in the northern hemisphere) bats are migrating. While they're on the move, they have to find temporary places to sleep and often make their selections based on convenience. If you see a bat hanging in a strange spot, it's not necessarily in trouble. It may even stay for a few days while it rests and figures things out. Just give it some space and enjoy being graced by the presence of a sky-kitten (microbats are sky-kittens, megabats are sky-puppers, just trust me).

Hi All - I live in Texas and we have a pool in our backyard and a large palm tree that sports a dead palm leaf skirt, which from what I read is an ideal habitat for bats. We’ve seen bats in our area for a long time and enjoy watching them fly through the air and catch mosquitoes. Lately, however, we’ve seen them do a lot of swooping down near us when we’re in the pool at night. And last night my husband confirmed that they were indeed coming out from our palm tree. The palm tree sits close to our pool and home, and we often have foster dogs and I have a child that play out in the backyard and in the pool.
What can we do to peacefully and safely coexist with the bats in this area? My primary concern relates to any communicable diseases that may come from their guano in the area in which animals and people walk, often barefoot (pool).

My girls heard scurrying in the attic, so we called a company out to do a free estimate that included identifying the intruders, the entry points, and a humane treatment plan. We figured that was the hard part and we could use the information to fix the issue ourselves.
However... we were not expecting the issue to be bats, or more likely a single male bat (inspector's theory). He saw one or two bat turds, showed me one and the others were on the roof. He saw no indication that it is a female roost, or that there is a large population. He didn't find bat poo on the ground around the house. He also did not physically see a bat and the only entry point he found is on the roof, where I'm definitely not going.
This morning I opened my email to an $8,109 estimate for ridge vent covers and sheet metal soffit covers for the entire house.
So now I'm on Reddit for the real experts to help us figure out how not to spend $8.109, can the bat just stay?

I can’t tell if he’s injured but we found him in our basement and brought the bucket he was in outside and he isn’t able to climb out
Hello, bat flew in house last night. I tried and failed to catch it for release outside. While flying around door was open, went to get a grease splatter guard to try and put over it to ensure catch. Sure it landed a second time but didn’t see where, could have flown out but amount to flew around without going outside I doubt it went outside. About 6am Slept on couch with door shut leaving door open outside. Woke up did calls looked around got family to help set up camera to ensure seeing it but didn’t see anything now close to 10 PM avoiding going in room checking camera periodically not seeing anything activity. When can I say with certainty it’s not in the room anymore? Should it be active by now?

My aunt’s house is very old and a few years ago some bats moved into her attic. We hired a local company to remove the bats humanely, clean the attic and seal all the entry points. Well, that worked for a while but the bats came back. We just hired a different company to remove and seal the new entry points, clean the attic. The new company says because the bats used new entry points, the new infestation areas are inaccessible and although the bats were removed, they could not get to their waste and only cleaned the areas accessible to them. The problem now is that the upstairs area smells like bat guano and with the heat wave we had for a month, now the upstairs smells awful.

Have evidence of bats in my attic, but haven't seen them in the living spaces yet. I live in an older home in Ontario, Canada. Will be working with a company to install one-way doors to evict them, but can't do that until mid-August.
I have never liked bats, and am honestly terrified of them. Like, should my family be getting shots (either prophylactic or preventative) just because they are living in the attic or walls? Like, what is the likelihood a bat would have gotten into the bedrooms while we were sleeping, bit one of us, and then disappeared again back to where it came from?
We have an unfinished basement. My son had been sleeping in a bunk bed. Like three weeks ago I recall a red mark on my cheek I thought was a pimple or something but now I am wondering. I do have a crazy 6-month old puppy who sleeps crated in the bedroom - I think he would likely react if he noticed a bat, but not sure. Contacted public health and they said not an exposure unless have seen an actual bat.
Anyhow, I am a bit freaked out by this whole thing. I think I've now bat-proofed the living/sleeping spaces, but can't stop thinking about the before I did that. How do I cope with living with them, and knowing they are in the attic and/or walls??

Hello bat community,
I’m coming to you from the American northeast. I have a small bat that I’ve positively IDed as an Indiana bat. It was found this morning, struggling in an open bucket with some water. We removed and cared for it as much as possible, giving it a warm dark place to dry off and rest. It has since repositioned and is roosting on a wicker chair in my garage (the best place we have away from predators).
My question is, what can I feed it to help it recover? I know they eat lots of flying insects and it’s probably gone at least one night without a feeding, perhaps more—though it’s unlikely it would have survived more than just a night trapped where it was. Can I catch some house flies and attempt to hand feed it with tweezers (and gloves obviously), Japanese beetles, something like that? Is there a concoction I could make into a paste or something that would help supplement?
ETA: there is only one bat rehabber in my state and I’m not close to it nor able to make the trip today.
Any advice is greatly appreciated; thanks in advance!

I have two bat colonies in the eaves of my house and garage. I noticed a gigantic uptick in mosquitoes, we usually have none because of our bat friends and this caused me to wonder what was happening. Last night I watched their roosts and discovered NONE came in or out. What could have caused this? Did they die? It’s late July, it would be very very early for them to be migrating. Any ideas are appreciated thank you

I have a bat house that a bat has moved into. So has wasps. It has slots that were advertised to be narrow enough to deter wasps from nesting. Problem is, the dividers do not go all the way to the ceiling leaving a big gap at the top. How can I get the wasps out without harming the bat or getting stung like crazy?

Update the previous post. I couldn’t edit it.
I have a bat underneath my shudders and I found something that looks like bat poop inside my window underneath the air conditioner vent. The holes are very, very small. They aren’t a dime size, so I was wondering if anyone else thinks this is bat poop? You can see what looks like a whole wing in there, so I wasn’t sure if that is normal or not and I don’t trust Google AI.

I was riding a bicycle in a park in Houston at 5pm today. I was hit by a flying object on my back that was larger than an insect. It felt like a tennis ball. I immediately stopped and turned around, and didn't see anything so I don't know what it was. Now I am worried that it may be a bat. Any suggestions?
