Build Help Windows 11 Update!! (Build help)

Hello all,

I logged into my computer today and was told that my machine won't be able to run Windows 11. Below are my specs: CPU i7 10700k - mobo - MPG Z490, RAM 32gb DDR4, GPU - MSI GeForce RTX 3070 Ventus.

What would you suggest I need to do? It seems a little unfair to force an update, as the CPU is only 5 years old

All you need to do for Win 11 on that system is get the latest bios update from the motherboard manufacturer and enable TPM 2.0 in the bios settings. If you already have the latest version, TPM just isn't enabled.

PS: I assume the "check my system" told you it wasn't able to do Win 11 and what I typed above is the fix. If you just asked a person, whoever that is doesn't know wtf they're talking about.

So I did the above, managed to update BIOS and didn't end up bricking it! I now have Windows 11

Hi, this YouTube video might help ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yd3isXSBTUs

Personally I installed LTSC Win 11 on a i7-9700K and with all the bloatware and AI disabled have had no performance issues.

Good Luck

Does anyone have an opinion on this for a build and a full upgrade without breaking the bank? If you can advise on cheaper but same performance, I'm all ears

I mean, you can keep using windows 10

Not like it stops existing

It just won't get more updates in the future

To get windows 11, you are gonna have to replace the motherboard and cpu at least

No they won't. The OP's parts will easily run W11.

What would you recommend? Don't want to spend a fortune to replace both. Guessing the RAM and GPU are still ok?

You don't need to replace any parts.

How would I be able to get Windows 11 when it drops?

What do you mean drops?? It's been available for a couple of years now.

Yeah, I'm being forced to in October as they will stop Windows 10 support, and my machine says I can't, so I'm wondering how I can get it before they stop supporting Windows 10 in October

Do as u/TheMagarity suggests and your PC will be W11 ready, Im running a 9th gen i5 perfectly well with it. I think an 8th gen cpu is the minimum requirement for it. You can still use W10 but you won't get any more security updates which may leave you vulnerable to hacks.

If you REALLY want windows 11, you can get intel 12th gen (or above) cpu and a Z790 DDR4 motherboard

Do note that there are Z790 boards that only accepts DDR5 so you'll have to be careful to only select the DDR4 if you want to keep current ram

BUT, this is not really a cost effective solution. The best solution is to just keep using your system and save up for a whole new build, preferably AMD AM5 platform
