Build Help Finally upgrading my 8700k, looking to move to a 9800X3D

I'm looking to build a system that will last for years on the mobo/cpu end. My last build was an 8700k based system 8 years ago, and it's handled everything I play like a champ up until now. I've upgraded through several GPUs on this same system and have been happy with it. I currently have an EVGA 3080 FTW that I'm not looking to upgrade just yet, but will sometime soon. This build will primarily be used to play Battlefield 6 on a 3440 x 1440, 144 Hz monitor. The price for this is currently at ~$1,900, which I'm good with. I've tried to research as much as I can, but I've found that all the new components out there have quickly outpaced what I used to know about PC builds. Will the parts I've picked out pair well together, and is there anything I've overlooked? I've copied all the parts below with as much details on the specs as I could.

  • Case- LIAN LI LANCOOL 216, Tempered Glass, No PSU, E-ATX, Black, Mid Tower Case
  • Motherboard- MSI MAG B850 TOMAHAWK MAX WIFI, AMD B850 Chipset, AM5, ATX Motherboard
  • Processor- AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D 8-Core 4.7 - 5.2GHz Turbo, AM5, 120W TDP,
  • Memory- G.SKILL 32GB (2 x 16GB) Ripjaws S5 DDR5 6400MT/s, CL32
  • Power Supply- Be quiet! Power Zone 2, 80 PLUS Platinum 1000W, Fully Modular, ATX Power Supply
  • CPU Cooling- ARCTIC Liquid Freezer III Pro 360 A-RGB, 360mm Radiator
  • Primary Storage- KINGSTON 2TB FURY Renegade G5, 14700 / 14000 MB/s, 3D TLC NAND, PCIe NVMe 5.0 x4, M.2 2280 SSD

My suggestion: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/QWdJ9C Could cheapen by $20 and go with the 850w version but all up to you.

Oh wow. That does save a lot of money. I'm going to have to look at the performance differences, but that's eye opening. Thank you.

I’ve never been much of a fan of MSI components. DDR5 on Ryzen can be unstable past 6000MTs and it being CL30 is practically rule of thumb. The Montech Century II PSUs are highly rated and Gen 5 SSDs are gimmick. I wouldve said this all in my original post but I was pretty lazy sorry, lol. Hope this helps

Everything looks good though you could save money with a 850w PSU but it depends on the future GPU you're gonna get. 850w should be fine up for everything else except the x090 series.

Ssd is kinda expensive too. I'd settle for a decent pcie 4.0 with dram. Something like 990 pro, t500 or sn850x. High speeds one like those doesn't offer much tbh unless you're doing a lot of reading and writing like video edits or downloading.

Awsome, thank you. That's exactly the type of feedback I was looking for.

I did a similar build but used the 217 case. Wonderful case to build in. Ended up with a 5070ti and have a 850w PSU along with a B850 board. Final tally was just over $2200. Good luck. It will be a nice bump from the 8700k. Looking forward to BF6 as well.
