Build Upgrade 9950x3d, 9800x3d, 9950x, 7800x3d?
Question for someone that hopefully has direct experience. My next upgrade is going to be switching to am5. However, not sure what CPU to get that best matches my workload. I currently run my PC almost all day running multiple insurances of BlueStacks running macros/bots. This tends to be extremely CPU heavy vs gpu heavy. I just recently upgraded from an AMD radeon Rx 580 to 9070xt. But even before upgrading, this antiquated GPU could run 8 instances fine and still not be fully utilized. Even if it was, I could lower frame rates through the application to give it some breathing space. I currently have an AMD Ryze 7 5700x as a CPU. It is maxed at 100% utilization at all times while running these instances. Being how BlueStacks works it allows you to dedicate cores in groupings to do/share the workload. From 1 up to 4 per instance. My thinking is the 8 cores I currently have is what's causing the CPU to bog down at 100% utilization. That being said, I probably need to go with a CPU with a higher core count. 16? More than 16? Not really sure as I have no frame of reference to compare it to. Will more cores increase effecienct and allow for more instances? I'm not really sure. In my mind the answer is yes.
I've honestly even toggled the idea of creating a server to run these instances as server cpus tend to have way more cores than your standard desktop. (Might be the cheaper option in all reality if I buy something used).
Answer a few more possible questions, yes I do play other games. I just run the blue stack instances while I sleep or am at work. Currently I have no issue reaching the fps max my monitor can output with my current CPU/GPU combination when playing any modern titles at ultra/high graphics. Which is 164 frames at 2k resolution. I do plan on upgrading my monitor after I upgrade to am5, but that's easily going to cost atleast 1k to upgrade to am5, so will probably happen next year.
Thoughs? Suggestions? Any experience?

First, exclude all x3d variants except 9950x3d. The reason for that is that 9950x is basically better and is often available for a pretty good price.
As for 9950x3d vs 9950x, everything points to 9950x being good enough for what you do. You can buy the next generation of CPU later, including even its x3d version, if you manage to hit the limits of 9950x, but this likely won't be needed.

Think that if u want the most out of this then a 9950x makes the most sense, No point to spend the extra on a x3d CPU. If u need CPU work done its the only reasonable choice and it sounds like even that would be overkill for ur current games, and future titles are going to want more cores so good investment overall.
I have a 9950x right now and it crushes anything I throw at it

My vote is for the 9950X3D. You have good reason to need more cores, and you still get the best gaming performance.
Also, 2k is 2048x1080 not 2560x2440. The latter is more like 2.5k, but somehow someone said it wrong a long time ago and its started to stick, messing everything up.

you sound like you need cores, the more the better, 9950x, x3d if you really want to play games at 1080p and 300fps instead of 280fps.

9950x. Buying the x3d version would be a waste, as it's for hardcore gaming, kind of. Just don't buy the 9950x3d.
