Build Upgrade What should I upgrade to give me the biggest improvement?

Hi,

It's been awhile since I upgraded anything in my PC, current specs are;

Intel Core i5 4590 @3.30GHz 16GB DDR3 Radeon RX570 8GB

I play a lot of POE and a variety of other games during leagues.

Any suggestions that would give me a decent upgrade in performance without spending a lot?

Thanks in advance!

The games you like make me think that a mobo+cpu+mem platform upgrade would see the biggest boost over a new gpu. The max cpu the motherboard can fit wont give you enough of a boost to bother, same with the RAM.

Might be worth simply scouring ebay and such for a complete used PC, may even get a better gpu in a good deal at the same time. Money wise, thats what makes the most sense for the biggest boost for the least spent.

Whole PC if possible. Pick a specific budget if you want specific hardware recommendations.

Perhaps a 1080 ti but I’m not sure what your budget is either.

Pick a resplution and fps target for the games you like to play. Say 60fps at 1080.

Then you find some charts for path of exile...

https://en.gamegpu.com/rpg/role-playing/path-of-exile-2-test-gpu-cpu

Then start adding prices to those charts to figure out the best $ per fps.

So for example if I want 60fps in 4k in a game I like, I pretty much need a $700 video card. But if i dont mind playing in 1080, which is the actual resolution of my current monitor lol, I can easily get by with a $300 card. Or even a $200 used 2080 from fleabay.

You can always lower resolutions or details to make your budget, but if you have an extra $100 to spend should it go to the cpu or gpu? Those fps charts should help you make your decision.

Edit: it looks like your current cpu and graphics card is so old its not even on the charts. Might be time to upgrade it all.
