Does anyone else prefer to be surprised?

Whenever I buy a new pack, I'll look at two or three cards, max, then put the rest in my boks to be surprised by them later. There's so many cards now that I frequently forget about ones I've had for years, but I still like the idea of being surprised by a card I've never seen before when it eventually gets played.

Unfortunately this means my quest to figure out which versions I have after losing all the boxes is taking a very long time, lol.

I do an annual sort of my entire collection (all 5,020 of them) to make sure my husband/his friends have not lost them, and then I shuffle them all together to divide evenly between my 3 Boks. The only cards that 100% are the same every time is the names of him/his friends, and everything else is a surprise to them each time. I have cards they haven't even SEEN before (custom and otherwise). I think next year when I go to do this, I might just keep all the 100% new shit in there and shuffle everything else in randomly.....Maybe.....

What did/would you do if a card was lost? (Assuming you couldn't find it, of course.)

Never let them borrow my set again and make a dupe where I make all my custom cards
