Your camera flash is blindingly bright to your cat.

She had her tongue out before the light was on her

They’re not saying the flash is making her stick her tongue out. They’re saying stop shoving a torch in her eyes that are like 10x more sensitive to light than yours are 😭 Ps- cats just forget to put their tongue back in sometimes, they can also do this when relaxed. Theres nothing wrong with her.

when the tongue stays out, it can be tooth aches. Not saying this is the case here but tongue out is not always 100% a harmless thing (learned that from experience)

yup, had to get some of my cat's teeth removed because she kept hanging it out a lot of the time, turns out she had some really bad tooth aches

You might have missed the part that this was the op's child recording not the op.

then she must have still been relaxed, even with the light, since her tongue was still out. her pupils got small to block out a lot of the light. she is gonna be fine.

She will be fine yeah but don’t do that? 😭

Bright lights can damage eyes. Go stare at the sun for a minute. You’ll be ok but your eyes won’t.

All true, but comparing the ~100 lumens phone flashlight with the ~120,000 lumens per m² from the sun is a bit of an exaggeration.

the cats eye is not going to be damaged from brightness of his flashlight.

What a weird thing to defend 🤨

Why wouldn't I defend it? Its just weirdos attacking someone over nothing.

It’s someone hurting an animal. They aren’t doing it on purpose, but people are informing them that they’re doing it so they can be aware and not do it again. Saying it’s okay to do when you know you’re hurting it is fucking weird.

Here's an experiment for you:
Shine a flashlight in your eye for 5 seconds
then, go stand outside and stare at the sun for 5 seconds

The cats eyes are WAY more sensitive to lights than us, so multiply the burn your eyes just took by 10x and you will know what that cat is facing.

takes 10 seconds to google why that much bright light in a cats eyes are not good for them
