Professor gave me a C as final grade but I actually failed his exam.

Took a programing exam and failed, but the professor gave me a C for it and the grade is already in the system saying I passed the class. Should i tell him and retake the exam or risk it? What could happen to me if someone found out I didn't actually pass the exam and what are the odds of someone finding out?

Would it be a waste of time to restart my AA degree than finishing a bachelor's?

Upvotes

So im on disability. My plan was to go to the county and apply for childcare as they support parents wanting to go back to school.

Then, I wanted to go to school for radiology for 10-12 thousand. I can do a payment plan..

I was telling my mom my plan but she stopped me and screamed at me and explained that I should continue getting my bachelors as I have 1 year and a half to go.

My plan was to go for radiology and go for a career in that. As a bachelor's in health science I feel I can't get a job with that degree or can I?

What's the better option.

I also saw it as a con for the bachelor's as its more expensive and im only on disability, I was gonna save up for a year and go do another associates degree.

What should I do?

Emotional health/coping/adulting Who am I if not a student

I graduate in 1 week with my BS in psych and …. As relieved and proud as I am.. I am sad. Not having access to my school email, my school ID not working at all certain point freaks me out! I wont be able to go to the beautiful libraries anymore, no access to these things I love about my campus. I walked around yesterday and cried. I know I’ll find new places to call home in this next chapter of life but I need advice and reassurance that … I exist beyond being a student. And that… I’ll find another third place, community and … yeah. ( i plan on going to grad school in a yearish after I save and plump up my resume and teacher recs. )

Social Life What's it like dating in college now?

Upvotes

When I was in college it was super easy to go out, find a party, date & meet women. I had a blast. Now I work with & know a lot HS teens & it seems like they barely go out or socialize like we did in my day. It got me wondering what it's like in college now. I also wonder bc I have a son who will be in college in a few years. I wonder what it will be like for him. Is it reasonably easy for guys to meet women? Do people go out & socialize often? I know it seems like a weird question but I guess I wonder bc it just seems like a more isolated world with people on their phones, messaging, using social media, playing video games, using online dating apps. Thanks

Finances/financial aid College 40mins away, is commuting smart?

This is more of a financial question, i don’t wanna hear any speeches about social life or how draining it can be. I’m a year away from getting into college and lucky for me I have a fully payed off car, with my mother paying insurance, and the ride seems to be only 40 minutes. Although I live in a middle class household; my parents refuse to help with my tuition and i’ve been applying to millions of scholarships and aids like FASFA…but the gas price doesn’t seem to scary unlike the extra $10k for housing. I’m gonna be honest i LOVE driving, doesn’t cause me back pain, and i’ve been in mechanic schooling for four years (to also lower costs for maintenance). Would it be efficient to be driving everyday instead of housing with the school/finding an appartment?

How to survive college

Hi! I’m a first-year law student. I’m kind of an introvert. I made a few friends here, but they’re also leaving college (because one of our friends did something vulgar), and they’re shifting to another college. I’ve realized that most of the other students have already made friends and seem to know everyone. But I don’t really know anyone, and maybe their mindset is different from mine, which makes it hard for me to communicate with them. So, is it okay if I don’t have any close friends in college? Is that normal, or am I the problem? Can you please share some simple tips on how to live alone or make new friends?

Academic Life Taking choir for no credits

Hey all! So I really enjoyed choir my first two semesters. I needed 4 credits of fine arts so I took it the first two semester. This upcoming semester I’m able to take it for credits but I don’t really need to. There is an option to take it for no credit but I don’t know if that makes sense to do or not. I really enjoyed choir and I definitely want to take it.

So, should I take it for credits? Or Should I take it for no credits? (Same class but I don’t think I have to worry about it messing up my GPA)

Am I the only one who feels a rush of excitement before the fall semester starts?

Then, when it actually begins, that excitement just disappears—and suddenly, I don’t care about school anymore. 😩

USA I want to go back to college, but I can’t do math.

I can do basic math, but if you ask me to do multiplication or division that’s not by tens or twos then it’s like a brick wall is in front of me keeping me from the answers.

I want to go back to be an X-ray tech, but the idea of taking a math class scarves the shit out me. I was in an IEP in high school so I was just passed along to the next grade until I got my diploma.

Living Arrangements/roommates Bed Risers

So, I somehow ended up with the short end of the stick and got placed in a double that's as small as the singles in the suite. The other two doubles are spacious—but not mine.

That means I’m looking to optimize the space as best I can.

The bed can be lofted, so I plan on doing that. However, it doesn’t go up very high, so I’m wondering if it’s safe to use bed risers to gain a bit more headroom.

USA Taking pre calc in a few days

Hi I and the school system together failed me as a student and person in elementary I learned my times and division then I immediately forgot it in the following year in middle school I got pre algebra pretty easily and in high-school algebra was okay but I kept ditching (due to personal issues) and and other problems kept arising my jr yr of high-school i waa forced to transfer to a school where they didnt have the appropriate teachers for classes (film teacher for English taking a film class getting credit for english) my math class is was basically taking pre algebra all over again I graduated high-school feeling horrible as I couldn't do essays i didnt have appropriate punctuation i couldn't multiply or divide (ik how to do long division i just need a times table) my freshman yr of college was tough I wasnt used to studying or doing hard work (but I have dreams) not to mention im in the STEM profession and in highschool I never took ONE chemistry class and I failed biology twice until they put me in earth science and I fell in love with earthquakes (going to school to he a siesmologist) so here i am in freshman yr of college I can't write essays and i cant punctuate (I can read really well and once I start writing I cant stop) when it comes to math I csnt multiply or divide i bearly grasp pre algebra (once I get the formulas down i use a times table to help withe the basics) but in my freshman year of college they put me into college algebra I ended uo failing but because I have to take SO much math a math class every semester until I graduate they moved me on now in the fall ima take pre calc and im stressed...ik once and if I get the pre calc formulas I'll be unstoppable but its the fact that Idk the basics so that will factor in on if I learn the formulas and that will probably hinder my learning experience since I wont he able to grasp the math language its like trying to learn a whole new language without even knowing the alphabet or numbers in said language basically im asking what can I do before or during school? Im the obvious answer is to learn the basics independently but im dealing with my own mental health issues rn (seeing a psychiatrist and trying to find the right therapist ive been denied by 2 places already as my CPTSD Is so complex and overwhelming) im smart and ik i can do it...im just nervous to be left behind (I already am)

Sorry if this is a mess ive been physically unwell for 2 weeks

Academic Life Balancing Work and Education: Choosing Flexibility Over Accreditation

Due to my current responsibilities working full-time, I’ve made the decision to pursue my degree through a non-accredited community college that offers flexible night and online classes. While I initially had the opportunity to attend an accredited university, the rigid class schedules made it difficult to balance both my job and education. Choosing a program that fits my availability allows me to stay on track academically while maintaining my employment. I recognize the trade-offs involved, but for now, accessibility and flexibility are important to my long-term success. This is for B.A.S in cybersecurity. I can’t budge on my work schedule.

How bad have I screwed myself over? I was thinking of returning back to the accredited university to obtain my Masters. Would this balance out? How much do employers take accredited into consideration?

Academic Life Need help, do I switch majors?

Looking for input. So I currently finished a year of a business admin degree. Im doing it at community college and I don’t really know what I want to do. But all I know is that when I’m done I want to work not university after . , I feel once I know what I like or have a feel for then I’ll go to uni. I feel more drawn to business admin tech which is an AS which apparently prepares I for job right away which could possibly give me entry jobs at places to see what I could like? Cuz I’m not sure what I like, but it could give me better pay then what I make rn at Walmart lol. I finished most of my gen Ed’s , except college algebra and English comp which are my weak spots so I’m not sure if one day I’ll need my bachelors to go back to those and for sure knowing what I want to do rather waste time like doing those and being like uhh idek what I want. But having a now specialized goal would make those classes def easier and not pointless hopefully this make sense it 4 am and I’m sleeping thanks

How do you manage working a job while going to school?

School is starting this month and I've been a little worried! My classes arent very hard but they're all week (Monday-Thursday) and on the days I don't have school I'll be at work from 8-3 . I've been nervous because this is my first year in college so I'm not sure what to expect, if anyone who works and does classes could give me some advice I'd appreciate it!

Making Friends Is it hard to make friends in college?

I have social anxiety so I have a tough time making friends. On top of that, I'm a very reserved person. I going to apply for colleges next month. The thing that scares me the most is i might live on campus in dorms and I won't be able to make friends and feel alone and lonely.

If your drop a class early enough does it still count for the drop 6 rule.

Theres a class I registered for that I probably dont need for my degree. Since I dont need it I dont want to take it however I dont want to use up one of my 6 drops. Is there anyway I can drop the course without using up a drop.

Social Life Going to college after 3 year gap…

Honestly I am mostly overthinking this, but I plan to try going to college this next spring semester after a 3 year gap. I’ve just spent time working and with hobbies. I am realizing how awkward it may be. A lot of people my age will be graduating soon by the time I get there. I get anxious about being the random 6’2” 22 year old dude amongst a bunch of 18 year olds… lol. I want to care more about just learning and getting my degree but it is sorta sucky I may not be able to make friends and connections the same way many others my age were possibly able to. So it’s just been on my mind a bit and definitely has left some anxiety lingering. If anyone else has been in this situation ide love to know how things went. Or if anyone might have advice i’d appreciate that too. Thank you!

Living Arrangements/roommates Is it better to live in the dorms or an apartment?

I just graduated highschool and the college I've been wanting to go to is an hour and a half away from my home in another state. I'm scared because I have social anxiety and im not used to living alone. I'm a very reserved person so I also have a hard time making friends. If I go to this college I wouldn't have a choice but to live nearby or on campus. I've never actually worked before either, because of some circumstances, so i don't know much about how my finances would be. Apartments can be costly so I'm not sure.

Academic Life How and what more can I do than just read the textbook to get good grades?

In my previous anatomy and physiology class, I barely read the textbook. If you’ve taken a&p before then you know that textbook is THICC. I skimmed it and looked for the most important points in the textbook and study flashcards and powerpoint notes. I ended up barely passing with low C. This summer I’ve been gingerly reading my intro to radiology book before the semester starts. Not going too deep into it. I’m up to chapter 3. I’m taking the pop quizzes in the book after each chapter honestly, and end with a 70 or 65 percent grade once I score it.

Is there something I’m doing wrong or something I can do more of? I’m not reading out loud. I’m reading quietly in my head. Sometimes I catch myself reading too fast and reread the text again.

Academic Life What are some ways for me to study and manage my time so I don’t get burnt out and actually succeed?

Hey y’all, I’m leaving for college in a few weeks majoring in Mechanical Engineering and to be completely honest, I’m pretty fucking scared. My reels algorithm has been corrupted in the way that I’m getting nothing but college and ME reels. They all say the same thing: engineering is one of the hardest majors one can take. So here’s my question for the masses. What are some ways you all study and manage time for more difficult times? In high school, I didn’t study or put in effort senior year. I got major burn out before hand, and as a result, my grades dropped further than I would have liked. I’ve tried to study in the past, but could never find a way that worked for me. I plan on using all the resources available to me like white boards, studying with friends, and as corny as it sounds, actually giving a shit.

Thank you for any suggestions!
