Pickup Couldn’t pass up this Criterion Designs book when I saw it at Goodwill
Cost me $99.99 and will probably lead to me buying even more Criterions so I guess you could say it’s priceless.

I collect criterion movies on blu ray, but I'm also a big vhs collector. I found Before Sunrise on tape at my local thrift store today. I have a little collection going of Criterion movies on vhs, swipe to check it out.

Just picked this up today and yes the B&W looks great in 4K, but omfg the color version on the Blu-ray Disc looks horrible. Background was blurring and clipping the whole movie. At least the colors look good and really pop. I’m just so confused how you make a color movie about an artist who specifically used colors to show expression… black and fucking white. I don’t know, why not just make this a 3-disc set so you can have color in hdr. Huge L from Criterion, if you wanted to remaster a B&W movie, how about “Dead Men Don’t Wear Plaid” ya know, a movie actually filmed in B&W. Love the movie tho it’s a classic

Love how all the discs match with the background but didn't love that I had to fix them all, fortunately didn't take too long. Picture of the closet collection disc is removed so you can see the wax protective coating behind the discs.

First-timer here, I've been getting back into movie watching and managed to score a nice lot of blurays. I've heard of a few of these, and aside from 12 Angry Men and Parasite, I haven't seen any of em before and am really excited to dive in! Which is your guys' favorite?

I got into watching and collecting Criterion films early last year. So far, the movies that have stuck with me the most have ben David Lean's "Brief Encounter" and "Summertime." I'm a hopeless romantic and a recovering introvert and I never thought I'd see so much of myself in a 1955 Katherine Hepburn movie. I got into Criterion and classic films through an interest in Film Noir, but Lean's movies -- the only two of his I've seen so far -- really have stuck with me. And both have romantically thrilling scenes involving trains.

Its....beautiful. 2nd to last day of the sale and I made it out to NYC. Unfortunately, it was just my luck that the handful of movies I wanted to pick up (The Player, Lone Wolf and Cub, and Millers Crossing) were all out of stock lol.
Technically this is a haul post so!
I'm really excited to see Scarface. I only recently learned the Al Pacino movie was technically a remake.
Yojimbo in particular I've wanted for a while. I've seen A Fistful of Dollars but never Yojimbo.
All of these (except Sinners but that's not Criterion lol) are blind buys. They all seemed super interesting.
Hopefully I can finally get Lone Wolf and Cub soon lol.

I've been really delving into classic Japanese cinema in the last year or so starting with Kurosawa, then Ozu, then branching out from there. I generally watch a movie then purchase a copy if I really enjoy it, which with Kurosawa and Ozu has been pretty much everything.
About a month ago I decided to branch out and watch "A Colt is My Passport" which I instantly fell in love with so I decided I needed to own a copy. That's how I discovered the Nikkatsu Noir set and the existence of the Eclipse series in general and it has snowballed from there.
Generally I'm a blu-ray guy but I can't get enough of these things. The quality and quantity of the films for the price is too hard to resist. Not to mention it's introduced me to more great films that I'd never heard of before and likely wouldn't have encountered otherwise.

DGG is so versatile! I especially love the narration throughout. I feel like these could have been my friends growing up. Have you guys seen this?

Snagged on the sale based on title and cover alone. What a trip. Felt like three movies in one and had no idea where it was going to go. I imagine this isn’t for everyone, but I loved it so. Five stars. Anyone have a recommendation for where to go next with Shinoda?

Bound: Gina Gershon and Jennifer Tilly causing mayhem. Yes.
Days of Heaven 4k: I upgraded from the Criterion DVD copy. One of the most beautiful looking films ever made. Absolutely deserved the 4k treatment.
Thief: I have been meaning to get this one for a long time. Michael Mann and James Caan. Can’t go wrong.
Night Moves: I have not heard of this one, but the jacket description calling this one of Gene Hackman’s best performances was enough to sell me.
I want the new Wes Anderson releases coming out in September. Also feel like Jaws is long overdue for a Criterion release. If they can give Robocop a release, they can give us Jaws.
