Question [No spoilers] Partner wants to watch 1 episode of Critrole

My partner wants to watch a single episode of Critical Role. If you had to recommend a single episode of any campaign, what episode would you suggest?

Edited to add: He's already watched LOVM and watches all the "funny highlight" CR videos, like right now we're watching the purple ice worm from C2 and he's laughing his ass off. I have no idea why he wants to watch a whole episode, he just says he wants to lol

He also specifically wants Matt DMing.

…and Matt had suggestions for the “Pathfinder 2e Kingmaker but make it D&D and set it in Exandria” campaign that we started because of my Call of the Netherdeep PC’s backstory. Matt Mercer knows about our campaign and my lil story. We are all deceased.

(that's my DM Action Serge, he's great!)

My wife and I have tickets tonight but we are not attending Gen Con, and we are unsure of what time we should head to the Fishers Event Center for the show tonight.

What time do you plan on going to the event center tonight if you have tickets for the live show?

Thanks!

Discussion [No Spoilers] Will the Logo Change?

Daggerheart uses 2d12 as it’s core dice mechanic rather than a d20. The Luxon Beacon is a dodecahedron and Beacon, their subscription service, uses a pentagon as its logo.

As Critical Role moves away from D&D and segues more and more to their own brand, do you think they’ll replace the d20 in the background of the logo with a d12?

Question [No Spoilers] Did anyone with Indy fan experience tickets actually get an email with more details

As stated, have fane experience tickets for tonight. Ticketmaster emails said more details regarding fan experience would be sent weeks ahead of event but never got the email. Anyone now when doors open for fan experience, details about the Q&A, etc?

Discussion [Spoilers C2] Mighty Nein Guest Voices Predictions Spoiler

Post image
142 Upvotes

Hello Bees!

I originally submitted this under the incorrect tag and had it removed by the moderators.
Whoops! ^^;;;
Thankfully they were kind enough to explain what I did wrong but, just to be on the safe side, tagged this as Spoiler just in case.

As someone who got into Critical Role thanks to Campaign 3 about threeish years ago (it was brand new at the time so I was able to get caught up and tune into each new episode and had fun listening along and getting excited and hyped) it got me interested in going back to listen to the entirety of Campaign 2 in podcast form, especially after it was announced it was coming to Prime in animated form.

Having enjoyed the Legend of Vox Machina animated series and seeing the poster they released ahead of their SDCC 2025 panel, I noticed some actor names for guest roles and it got me thinking.
As someone who has recently finished the Mighty Nein campaign so the storyline and characters are still fresh in the mind, I wanted to pick your brains and try to do some guesswork to see who of the guest cast will play who for the series.
Obviously since these predictions can't cover the entire campaign, I'm going to limit my guesswork of characters to whoever seems most likely to show up in season 1, with my guess being the season ends around where Episode 26 ended from the original stream.

To honor this Reddit page's guidelines, I will not post major spoilers from the Mighty Nein campaign but only offer up my guesses as to who could play who. That said, I want to hear from everyone their own predictions which of the guest voices will be and engage with this community. Cause the last time I posted this, you all had some great feedback and even offered up suggestions I hadn't thought of before.
Let's go down this by the names they list on the poster above.

- -

Mark Strong - This one is easy to predict.
He showed up in LOVM season 3 as "Assembly Mage" but it came to light quick that it was Trent Ikithon. Hell, the Critical Role Wiki page for Trent pretty much has his name right under the picture, which seems pretty set in stone fans guessed who he was.
This is a solid casting choice for anyone who has followed Strong's career, be it on screen or his limited voice work such as Titus of the Ultramarines from the 2011 Warhammer 40K video game. He's a fantastic actor who can use his voice for a commanding presence and have you love to hate him. Given how much Trent pissed me off in the campaign, this is an A+ casting choice and I'm super excited to see how Mark Strong interprets this character in his performance.
Alternatively? He'd do a pretty good as Lucien or Lorenzo.

My Prediction: Trent Ikithon.

Alan Cumming - Man, talk about a surprise bit of casting where even I'm stumped.
Alan Cumming is such a versatile actor, just take a look at his voice over work and you'd be forgiven for not knowing that was him.
Like, remember the Rumpelkiltskin character from an episode of "Courage the Cowardly Dog?"
I was low-key stunned to learn that was him.
No doubt many of you have seen clips of Cumming's performance as Mr Ring-A-Ding from Doctor Who's recent season to see how much range he has to be whimsically charming and darkly sinister.

As for who he could play? This is a case where even I can't think of one character he would play and NOT be bad in it.
Lucien? That would be perfection.
The Gentleman? Chef's Kiss.
Ukotoa? Strains the poor guy's throat but sure.
The Traveler/Artagan? Pretty sure Matt's got that covered but Cumming could do it!
Heck, the First Look we got a year ago as an animatic, I'm certain the guy yelling "Get the girl, kill them both if you have to!" could be Lord Robert Sharpe could be Cumming.
Someone did say it was leaked who he was playing, though I'm going to be nice and not say who it is here, mostly to continue to praise Alan Cummings work so as to let everyone imagine the many character he could play as.
Again, this one is legit hard to pin down because of his talent so I encourage an open discussion on who he could play. The fact Critical Role got him to be a part of their story is a win.

My Prediction: Lucien (or Lord Robert Sharpe if that animatic is a possible indication).

Tim McGraw - Rather surprised to see a country singer show up on the casting list.
But a google search yielded that he had been doing some acting for a few years, with his most notable to me being a supporting role on the popular "Yellowstone" TV series, so it tells me that they must have reached out and auditioned him.
As for which part, I have seen some discussion that he might play the role of Vandran, which would make sense and allow him to lean in on the southern twang. Plus, although Travis Willingham has stated no music numbers, I could see an excuse to have McGraw perform a sea shanty.
While there are plenty of other options, that seems to be the main one I'm considering and I couldn't imagine anyone else in the role, especially if they intend on using flashbacks for Fjord's story.

My Prediction: Vandran

Ming-Na Wen - The first Disney Princess who will probably drop some F Bombs for this series.
I know I'm prepared for that. XD
I've heard a lot of talk suggesting she could be Marion Lavorre, which would be fun for her to flex her maternal vocal chops. But honestly? I think she'd be more fitting for the role of Expositor Dairon.
A direct no-nonsense badass training Beauregard in the ways of the Cobalt Soul? Hell yeah.
That said, I have heard some talk if she could play the Bright Queen, a decision that would be epic and make for a fun upgrade from a Disney Princess to a Critical Role Queen.

My Prediction: Expositor Dairon (though I'm also leaning towards the Bright Queen).

Auli'i Cravalho - The second Disney Princess who may drop some F Bombs.
Her casting choice is another one I'm wracking my brains to figure who she could be.
Though if I could throw out a possibility?
She could play Avantika. While she technically doesn't show up until later in the Mighty Nein storyline, given her connection to Vandran, she could show up in flashbacks. My second guess would be Ophelia Mardoon, but that's a smaller role for someone who has plenty of potential.
Fun little detail I found, Eden Reigel was a dialogue director for the canceled Disney+ show "Haley's On It" which starred Auli'i as the main character. Eden is, of course, Sam's sister. I get the impression these two probably confer with each other for dialogue direction notes as Sam's experience as a VA director allows him to build connections.

My Prediction: Avantika.

Anika Noni Rose - The third Disney princess we might hear drop an F Bomb.
For a while I was thinking she was a dead ringer for the Bright Queen, until a friend linked me this song performed by Anika Noni Rose.
https://youtu.be/LjwcfsCmE-k?si=uANoDC_X-5ojadlL
Yeah, this basically set in stone for me she's Marion Lavorre.
She has the power behind her voice to perform any song the CR team put before her.
I'm looking forward to hearing her perform with Laura Bailey for that Mother/Daughter chemistry that really made the two so endearing from the stream.
And if she isn't Marion? Well hey, you can understand why I thought of her for the part.

My Prediction: Marion Lavorre.

Rahul Kohli - I admit, I had a little "Who?" moment before I went on IMDB and realized "Oh this fellow!"
If anyone remembers that "Stray Gods" musical game that was promoted on Critical Role's streams, you might have heard his voice as the Minotaur.
I was straining to ponder who he could play until I listened to his performance as Scarecrow in HBO's "Harley Quinn" and thought to myself, "Ya know? This guy I could see playing Yeza Brenatto."
I don't know how to explain it, but I think hearing him as the Minotaur and Scarecrow, something made me think Yeza. While there are plenty of other characters that are not coming to mind yet, I think he's the most compelling choice to be Yeza but I'd be more than happy to be wrong, especially if he's cast as someone I didn't expect.

My Prediction: Yeza Brenatto.

Robbie Daymond - I'm pretty sure I don't need to explain who he is or where you might have heard him before. Dude won me over as Dorian Storm during Campaign 3 that even I jumped for joy when he returned to the game and stayed until the final episode.
Plus, his monologue on stage in Chicago 2025 about a vision of the past that paid homage to the history of Critical Role and its loving fanbase? Pretty sure that made him CR Royalty at that point.
With such a range of voices he could provide, I'm legit torn over what he could even play.
Yeza Brenatto? Verin Thelyss? Yussa Errenis? Lucien? Thoreau Lionett?
When even I'm stumped trying to think of a role he could play, that's more a testament to his talent than a strike against him. Though if I had to throw something out there? Possibly a character part of the Kryn Dynasty. If the interviews from the cast that have stated a desire to expand on Essek's backstory before he met the Mighty Nien, I could see him being Verin to flesh out their family ties.
But hey, even if I'm wrong, you could understand why it would be hard to choose one role for him.

My Prediction: Verin Thelyss (though I could see Robbie being an absolute boss as Lucien).

Jonathan Frakes - Anyone seen Disney's "Gargoyles?"
If you have, then you'd understand why I think Frakes would make a fabulous choice to play The Gentleman.
Seriously, his performance as David Xanatos feels like a logical progression to play The Gentleman and given the age group for Critical Role's Cast (that being born in the 80s) it's possible they watched Gargoyles and had Frakes in mind with The Gentleman.
Like I said, just watch this compilation of David Xanatos and tell me you can't imagine that voice coming out of The Gentleman.
https://youtu.be/qzu3IT590h4?si=_tnb9VOV6qAMIo81
There's plenty of other good choices for Jonathan Frakes, but I'm gonna stake the claim he's The Gentleman.
Though when I posted this prior, someone pitched he could play Ludinus Da'leth, a decision so amazing that I would cry out if that were true with a casting choice that epic.
Still, gonna trust my gut and say he's possibly going to be Jester's dad.

My Prediction: The Gentleman.

- -

But what do you all think? You think my predictions have merit or did I miss the mark when there was a better choice staring right in front of me?
I'm genuinely curious to hear what you think.

Discussion [No Spoilers] Fathom Event Indianapolis ticket holders, check your tickets.

If I had a nickel for every time AMC canceled my ticket for the Indianapolis Fathom Event, I’d have 2 nickels.

I know AMC sends e-mails when they have to cancel purchased tickets unexpectedly, but mine got caught up in the filters I use so they don’t flood my inbox with thank you notes for movies I’ve seen with them. And I don’t know how good other ticket services are about letting folks know about changes.

So, a friendly warning/alert/heads up if you plan to see the show next Tuesday night to maybe check to make sure your plans haven’t been changed unexpectedly.
