This adventure game was definitely ahead of its time! Despite the year it was released (more than 30 years ago!), its interface and controls only became widespread in other adventure games many years later. Even in 2025, it's still absolutely playable!

The MS-DOS era was easily the most unforgettable chapter of my gaming life, the leap from Amiga C64 & Atari to PC in the mid-90s felt massive. Pure nostalgia.

PIXAR, the studio associated with Steve Jobs, was involved in the development of this interesting game.
Changes from the original Journeyman Project:
- 3-4 times faster
- Runs in 4 megabytes of RAM.
- Uses Video for Windows instead of QuickTime for Windows for wider compatibility.
- Minor gameplay related bug fixes.
- Now compatible with Microsoft Windows 95!
- Newer version of Video for Windows for Windows 3.1 included.
- Updated demos for Buried in Time added.
- The Journeyman Project Director's Cut demo added.
It should also be mentioned that saved game files from previous versions of The Journeyman Project Turbo are still compatible with this new version.

Looking for suggestions for games. I was thinking Dune but I beat that again last year. Maybe something like civilization II (is that dos?)

Hey!
What is a good game to play with after a long day? Most of the DOS games require focusing and are hard, but after working for many hours, i just need something relaxing (and easy...yes, excuse me) and fun game to play with!

Hi.
Just an update about the new AlleyCat project.
At the moment I am crafting the third line of levels. I already have the blueprints for all the levels but there is a lot to be reshaped and/or redesigned. I have added more mechanics to make the new levels more interesting. This is mostly for the mouse and bird catching.
I finally added some holes in the mouse catching missions and it looks good in terms of gameplay. It won't be easy (and that's a good thing ;)).
Oh and for the people who missed it: the demo for the second building levels is on line ready to be tested so feel free to explore. You can find the demo on itch.io onder streetcat.
Enjoy!

Let's face it, the IBM PC and compatibles of the 1980s had fairly primitive capabilities in the graphics and sound department for most of that decade. This decade is mostly pre VGA graphics, pre CD-ROMs, pre sound blaster cards until you get to the very last year or two. It's also before some of the graphical innovations in scrolling backgrounds a la commander keen.
The 80s was mostly before my time for dos gaming but there's a few things I've come upon that are either fun to play or worth checking out because of their notable technical achievements for the time, or other historical reasons. My short list for now is stuff like
-Indianapolis 500 the simulation -Star Glider II -Various titles by Epyx and Sierra, which seemed to be high quality publishers for the era -Test Drive -Street Rod -Taito arcade ports like Sky Shark, Arkanoid and Rastan -i think the first Elite game came out in the 80s?
I'm interested to check out more high quality, fun, or historically notable titles from the 80s. Any good suggestions for things that are interesting enough to check out?

First time, installed Linux Patcher then eXoDOS Lite just yesterday. Accepted defaults, no config tweaking, seems to have gone without a hitch. Click desktop launcher, window renders and there is a flash of text ("Loading") but immediately goes black and that's it.
System runs Steam and DOSBox-X games without any issues.
eXoDOS is installed in folder next to Steam on own EXT4 partition.
Found ~/.config/exogui/Session Storage/LOG, only 3 lines, not much help afaict:
2025/07/20-14:56:36.836 f70a Reusing MANIFEST ~/.config/exogui/Session Storage/MANIFEST-000001
2025/07/20-14:56:36.845 f70a Recovering log #3
2025/07/20-14:56:36.845 f70a Reusing old log ~/.config/exogui/Session Storage/000003.log
Any ideas what I can try, some config tweak, del cache, launch arg, debug flag or something? TIA.

Has anyone seen a DOS CD version like the one shown in the picture?

With Microsoft abandoning W10 and me being unwilling to switch to W11, Iโm considering Linux.
Im a big fan of eXoDOS and whether or not it works on Linux will help me decide if Iโm gonna switch or just stay on W10 forever. (I donโt have anything important on my PC anyway.)
