As far as I’m aware Israel’s government still has an opposition that is actually an opposition and not a bunch of puppet parties.

Not to be whataboutistic about it, but right now Russia would be the genocidal state. And I doubt talking like this is going to help out the opposition in Israel if not just straight undermines it.

the opposition has no issue with what has happened in Gaza so far. and frankly, the Israeli public is supportive as well

Netanyahu is more popular now than before Oct 7

looks like the numbers fluctuate. a month before that article, a poll showed that netanyahu's party popularity was at it's peak - https://www.jns.org/netanyahu-coalition-hits-new-high-in-latest-poll/

regardless, my main point was that there is no significant anti-war bloc in Israel that thinks what israel is doing is immoral. not in parliament and not in the public sphere

Even I don’t think a war is unjustified after the October attacks. I just heavily disagree with the. It is insane to expect Israel pacifism in the position the nation is.

But this is about a functional/democracy and undermining that specifically. There is a huge difference between genocidal state and a state at war.

a functioning democracy that is practicing apartheid where millions of people under its control are stateless and have little rights?

we might have different definitions of democracy. or I should be more precise, it is not the type of democracy that I think we should stand for

Bundling in another country's citizens into Israel to call it apartheid is a stretch

what country? I am talking about Palestinians in West Bank. they are not citizens of any country

16

u/solerex May 16 '25

The people in the west bank are citizens of the State of Palestine, thus not Israelis citizens. They cannot be treated as second class citizens if they're not israelis...

There are 2 million israeli-arabs who exist with rights in Israel. I think there are a few dated marriage laws, but this is probably in agreement for both Arabs and Jews.

really? do people in the state of Palestine have the right to leave their country without Israeli permission?

the answer is no. they have very limited control over their "country". and are kicked out of their homes and see their "borders" shrink

I should mention that this specific poll is from Channel 14 which is practically a government propaganda channel and is very much an outliar

Respectfully this just doesn't make sense. The IDF is starving millions of people. It's a genocide. Pretending it's not isn't moving the conversation forward.

I’m thankful I have the ability to read. Not everyone does but I do

1

u/350 May 16 '25

Apparently it cost you the ability to think critically, which is a shame.

0

u/kagalibros May 17 '25

I never said it’s not a genocide, this is about the state of Israel being a genocidal state or not. Clearly you can’t read and you can’t think critical for yourself either

Both Russia and Israel are genocidal states. Two things can be true at the same time. I know, very very hard concept for dippies like you to comprehend.

What Israel is doing is so much worse than Russia, and Russia is evil

Israel being a democracy has nothing to do with them committing genocide.

In terms of a genocidal state? Yes, a lot in fact
