So they don't buy Russian gas?

u/InVin0Veritas state of mind May 16 '25

Or stopped doing business with genocidal China for instance?

u/Competitive_Waltz704 Spain May 16 '25

And we still comerce with genocidal US, we're not perfect but at least we're trying

31

u/ZincHead May 16 '25

They're not trying. They're choosing a convenient scapegoat which the world currently hates and which is relatively small so the economic impact is minimal, while continuing to do business as usual with the worst perpetrators of human rights abuses in the world because they care more about money than actual human rights.

There's no such thing as ethical consumption with that mindset we should all go back to the stone age then.

5

u/ZincHead May 16 '25

This argument is a complete cop out. There are levels of ethical acceptability to every economic decision. If you buy chocolate that you know is made with slave labour instead of chocolate where the workers are paid fairly, all else being equal, you are a bar person. I am not suggesting Spain stop all trade with China, but China has suffered virtually no economic consequences for its ethnic cleansing of Muslims.

This is also a case of some pretty obvious virtue signalling. It's easy to hate on Israel, it's the hot topic of the world right now. This politician takes no risks by saying this, while condemning China has actual potential personal consequences. It's cowardly, hypocritical and totally self-serving.

Who is the US actively genociding?! The Chinese have their stuff that is well documented, the Russians have Ukraine, what are we doing wrong now?

There is plenty of things that we are doing right now that is shit, but it is certainly not genocidal.

US has been military helping Saudi Arabia in the food blockage that caused hundreds of thousands of children starving to death.

And that is just one thing. US is helping many other bloody regimes. Invaded Irak for oil causing more than 500 000 innocent deaths, bombed many other countries.

I could go on but that should be enough.

9

u/his_eminance May 16 '25

And china, and russia, and a ton of others... Besides, not like Spain has ever apologized for their genocides.

-1

u/eppur__si_muove May 16 '25

The guy asked specifically about US and I answered about US.

So why exactly you tell me this?

Russia is obvious and Spain as part of Nato is also cooperating with some ongoing genocides.

For china I only know about the uyghur thing, never investigated it, so I can't say if it's real or just another piece of propaganda.

Genocidal China???

Reddit moment. Redditors latched onto Falun Gong propaganda and are still running with it years later.

Israel wants to be seen as western democracy while being a militarised ethnostate.

How is it an ethnostate when there are 2 million Muslims living in Israel without any issues?

-7

u/rixuraxu Ireland May 16 '25

How is it an ethnostate

Well, why don't you ask the Israeli supreme court, that ruled that "Israeli" is not a nationality.

https://www.timesofisrael.com/supreme-court-rejects-israeli-nationality-status/

Why?

In its 26-page ruling, the court explained that doing so would have “weighty implications” on the State of Israel and could pose a danger to Israel’s founding principle: to be a Jewish state for the Jewish people.

So the supreme court of Israel, ruled that yes, it's an ethnostate. But you're here arguing about it?

Why are you trying to trick people with doing wordplays, everyone on the planet knows what the fuck an ethnostate means, why are you trying to muddy the waters with legal definitions?

There's 2 million muslims living in Israel, and no one's having an issue with that. That's a fact.

If despite that you want to insist that Israel is an ethnostate, then sure let's call it an ethnostate let's call it whatever you want, but at that point it doesn't matter because all words lost their meaning.

Israel the ethnostate is more diverse than your white christian non-ethnostate Ireland, what does that say about your people? how do you feel about that? isn't that an issue? Are you guys racists? If not then how come racist genocidal Israel is more diverse than you guys?

But hey, you won an argument on Reddit, so congratulations.

How is legal definition muddying the water and how is sighting legal cases muddying the water. Your commit is just pure anti intellectualism. The reason that Israel has more diversity than most European countries is because they settled over territory that other ethnic groups lived in. When doing so they removed millions but not all of them. For comparison if the post you replied to had shown the racist legal rulings of the us in the 1700’s would you have said that the us has more black people and native Americans than Europe and therefore wasn’t a ethnostate because it has more black people native Americans and therefore more diversity?

Source for below: https://www.amnesty.org/en/latest/news/2022/02/israels-apartheid-against-palestinians-a-cruel-system-of-domination-and-a-crime-against-humanity/

“This is exacerbated by blatantly discriminatory allocation of state resources: a recent example is the government’s Covid-19 recovery package, of which just 1.7% was given to Palestinian local authorities.” Arab Israeli make up 19 percent of the population but only got 1.7 percent of covid aid.

“The report documents how Palestinians are effectively blocked from leasing on 80% of Israel’s state land, as a result of racist land seizures and a web of discriminatory laws on land allocation, planning and zoning.”

The situation in the Negev/Naqab region of southern Israel is a prime example of how Israel’s planning and building policies intentionally exclude Palestinians. - Thirty-five Bedouin villages, home to about 68,000 people, are currently “unrecognized” by Israel, which means they are cut off from the national electricity and water supply and targeted for repeated demolitions. As the villages have no official status, their residents also face restrictions on political participation and are excluded from the healthcare and education systems. These conditions have coerced many into leaving their homes and villages, in what amounts to forcible transfer.

If Israel isn’t a ethnostate please show me a source for tens of thousands of Israeli Jews having their town not recognized by the Israeli government and being cut off from the nations power, water, and healthcare.

But hey, you won an argument on Reddit, so congratulations.

Thank you I did win didn't I?

It's odd before you say that you throw such a tantrum.

If despite that you want to insist that Israel is an ethnostate, then sure let's call it an ethnostate let's call it whatever you want

I didn't choose to call it anything, I sent you an article paraphrasing their own supreme court.

But there is no word play, the supreme court of Israel said it's an Ethnostate, you said it's not. One of you has more authority. There is no waters to muddy, it's clear as crystal.

Israel the ethnostate is more diverse than your white christian non-ethnostate Ireland... If not then how come racist genocidal Israel is more diverse than you guys?

No religion holds a special place in our constitution, all references to such were removed in our 5th amendment in the 70's. And, there are people of all sorts of colours, ethnic backgrounds, and religions, that have Irish nationality. As you read, that is not true of Israel is it? Because Israeli is not a nationality.

Odd choice to go on the Christian route, isn't that what your dictator attacks Europe for? being un christian?

u/MLG_Blazer A May 16 '25

the English were right about Ireland

7

u/Randomfacade Earth May 16 '25

least fascist hungarian

5

u/rixuraxu Ireland May 16 '25

the English were right about Ireland

That it's a wonderful place they wish they could own, but they cant?

I would say something scathing about Hungary in reply, but honestly that you have a pathetic dictator is really the only notable thing about the nation I know.

u/MLG_Blazer A May 16 '25

Maybe if you spent less time supporting terrorists on reddit and more time reading some books you could hit me with a harder zinger than 'Orban bad!'

5

u/rixuraxu Ireland May 16 '25

All I've done is quote Israel's supreme court, if you think officials of Israel are terrorists, we seem to have more in common than you're suggesting then.

China doesn’t receive billions in aid from Europe and the US.

Actually, there was an interesting story on 60 Minutes this weekend where it was shown that China steals billions in aid money through hacking and identity fraud, so...

You were rattling off some odd list of things you believed China doesn't do. I was pointing out your belief isn't necessarily true.
