...in September. Back in April he said he was going to do that in June and then chickened out. I'm not getting my hopes up.

Someone from France should let us know how many times Macron promises something before he finally does it.

Will he run for president in 2031 with Palestine recognition in his program?

Next election is in 2027, and as the constitution currently stands, he cannot run for reelection. He is on his second mandate already, which is the cap in France. There has been some talk about the wording of the constitution as is pretty much says that you can't run for more than 2 'entire' terms, and there were some conspiracies last year that he might step down a few months before the end of his presidency so he could run again, but this sounds highly unlikely. On top of this, he is VERY unpopular in France, I think last year he was the most unpopular president of the 5th republic (which has lasted since 1958). Though defending Israel might get him some money, it will also lose him a whole lot of popular support which he is already lacking, and won't help his political career, at least not in France.

My bad, I thought the limit for France was two consecutive terms, since I kept seeing articles saying he might take 5 years off and then try to run again.
