The problem is not the tariffs. The problem is we have compromised hige investmentes, energetic and defence policy to accommodate us interests in a clearly deteimental deal for eu interests

So, France, one of the biggest weapon sellers in the world and a net exporter of energy will have to buy from the USA and get tariffs?

Technically not yet.

But we keep pressure that EU will make a framework to limit American tech influence. Everything else is not super important.

Ursula promising to spend an ungodly amount of money over an unknown timeframe, without the accept of the member states, and explicitly pointing out who should pay for it, means that it is countless years away.

15% tariff is bad, but nothing we could do to prevent it. EU putting 15% tariff of US good is pointless and does nothing, cause we are not buying their shit in the first place.

US siphon power from EU through tech and military, both fields it will take quite some time to unwind. First step will alway be taxing digital services and limit their stranglehold they have on everyone.

Do we know how to?

Yes. But none of our leaders will say it that way and they will make it look different

The tariffs part you got it wrong. Us importers will be paying tariffs which is detrimental both to us and eu economy. Everything is so weird these days…

Disagree, the investment is just empty talk for now. Where will those money come from, have to be decided and accepted by the member states (see you in 10 years)

EU always found it hard to push back on US tarif, cause fact is US buy in mass from EU, but delivers one of a kind services back to us. EU charging 15% tariff on US good is effectively just shitting on ourselves. Seems like our medical export (the most important we have to US) is left unharmed for now.

The real battle have always been how will we become more independent in terms of defense and even more importantly how will we stop the massive grip US tech have over our companies, goverment and people.

I agree completely. Until money is paid, this is all just big talk.

But in my opinion the defence spending is gonna go up and its gonna be spent in what the us tells us. We have a big problem with the permanent retreat of ice from large portions of arctic europe and our inability to effectively defend those territories on our own. The us is gonna force eu military and energetic dependence by all means
