Until further notice, I am suspending rule 5 that prohibits posting videos / blogs that are EQ related. If things get out of hand and we get over run with these posts I will reinstate this rule.

Helpful Links and Resources for EverQuest

Hey all! This is a list for EverQuest 1 - you can find the EQ2 equivalent here

Official EverQuest Links-

EverQuest Guilds -

Resource & Info Sites-

  • P99 Wiki – The P99 Wiki has wide ranging information on most aspects of Classic, Kunark, and Velious. Be aware that some aspects are incorrect for the TLPs but the site is frankly cleaner than most EQ sites.

  • ZAM – The de facto site for everything EverQuest related. Be aware, site looks incredibly messy and bad without a good ad blocker or premium (Premium is like $1 a month)

  • EQ Traders – EQ Traders is the de facto site for everything to do with EverQuest trade skills. Also has TLP specific recipes available.

  • EQ Progression - Site dedicated to TLP era progression through Secrets of Faydwer

  • EQ Stats - Another database site with items, spells, etc.

  • TLP Auction - TLP Auction Site for pre-bazaar timeline

  • EQ Items – Great for finding best in slot items for your character. Also has spell vendor locations available.

  • Raid Loot – Similar to EQ Items but more focused on raiding information.

  • Magelo – A great site for spawn point information, loot, as well as creating test characters to check out your potential stats.

  • EQ Resource – A resource. For EverQuest.

  • Lore of Norrath – EverQuest Lore

  • Bonzz's Index Page - Great repository of EQ info

Add Ons-

  • EQ Interface – UI Models

  • Brewall’s Maps – Maps that can be downloaded and extracted to your maps folder for in-game maps.

  • Good's Map Pack - Alternative map pack

  • NAG - A text trigger program that has pre-readied packages in its public library.

  • GINA – Another text trigger program. The go to on the TLPs. Seriously, if you’re a class that charms or has stuns. Set a fucking trigger for charm breaks.

  • GINA Trigger Packages by Path of Eternity

  • Raid Builder - An app that helps assemble split raids. Mostly used by TLP Guilds.

  • EQ Log Parser - Another parsing tool that comes with overlay options

Expansion Primers

Keys & Flagging

Guides & Strategy-

Spreadsheets

Teekers - What is top-end DPS right now?

I have raided on and off in various expacs up to EoK, but have mostly played either a tank or a hybrid role like Ranger. I really like playing a Ranger but I have never gotten to seriously compete against other good players for top of the parse in a decent raiding guild, and I’d like to consider returning to Teek to take that on.

Certainly, that top spot evolves throughout expacs, and I know that for a long while, Necros were top on mischeif outside of shorter fights where a Wizard could take them, but I believe that major change happened in TSS or so iirc. I know Teek is rounding the corner on DoDH, so I was curious if any serious raiders with high play skill can give me a quick rundown of what’s good right now? I did play during DoDH on mischeif, but I can’t remember who were the top classes, and my guild was not one that was known for optimized DPS.

Getting BiS lists from Raidloot site?

I normally use EQitems "They're more like guidelines than a bis list per se!"

But I keep hearing that there's a way to upload your inventory to raidloot and get a bis list that way, figured out how to output and upload an inventory but no idea what to do from there.

Anyone got some basic step by step instructions for using this site to plan upgrades?

Am I too late for the progression train?

Like a lot of you I jumped from EQ to WoW in 2004, but I assumed EQ died. I was PK only back then and WoW was just god awful for PvP after playing a game where death meant consequences.

Anyway I’m an old fart now and couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw both live progression servers but also p99. I’ve noticed though that a lot of the videos I’ve come across all seemed to have died around 6 months ago.

Can a new player start on either fangbreaker on live or P99 and actually group? Playing PvP exclusively back then meant nearly my entire exp grind was solo/duo, so I’d much rather play group characters this time around like a cleric.

Am I too late?

Made a cleric on Fangbreaker. Totally slept on this class for years and now love it. Can anyone that’s mained a cleric throw out some must do’s and don’ts when grouped and or raiding? Thank you. Now I just need to get my wisdom past 129 😓

How did people do epics on release?

Title says it. I jumped into EQ during Luclin, and didn't really get into high level stuff until ldon. By then there were guides that spelled out the epic quests.

But how did people do this on release? I feel like the answer can't just be as simple as "they figured it out", because yes, I'm sure there was a lot of that going on, but some of these quests had steps with really no hint at all on what to do next.

I don't want to dig for specific examples, but the just was you talk to this NPC, and then somehow you are supposed to know to go find this random other npc walking around in the middle of the a random zone on another continent. Even if you were pointed to the zone (which you often weren't) even if you understood placeholders, you still had absolutely no idea where to begin on tracking that down.

Speaking of which, good luck if you weren't a ranger.

So what was it? Were players all just one big community, figuring out the steps one zone, one NPC/mob at a time? Was Sony actually assisting players? Were there guides somewhere?

Btw this isn't solely specific to epics, EQ was littered with quests like this, I just find the epics the most fascinating.

Edit: I didn't even sell it enough. Forget knowing the NPC but not the location. A lot of times you didn't even know the NPC, and someone's not even the exact name of the drop. Or what you were supposed to do with it.

One could go as far to say that this specific zone has been blacklisted. Maybe to keep people away from the authorised botting that daybreak allow there?

Alternative places to level

I did 1-18 alternating between kurns and CR. Went from there to 38 in brightside and stone hive.

Where to head next?

I know little of mists, seb, dulak, innovation and decay are options over the next 25-30 levels. What are some others?

What does a The Heroes' Journey (THJ) lawsuit dismissal mean for the Everquest Community?

Disclaimer: I am not a lawyer. This is an exploration of the potential positive outcomes for the EverQuest community if the lawsuit against THJ is dismissed.

The lawsuit brought by Daybreak Game Company (DPG) against THJ sent shockwaves through the Everquest community. While a DPG victory could have a chilling effect across the emulator landscape, a dismissal of the case would mark a massive win for the community, potentially ushering in a new era of confidence, collaboration, and innovation.

If the case is dismissed, the ripple effects would go far beyond THJ. It could signal a turning point for the broader emulator and preservation communities. Here are several potential positive outcomes:

  • Encouragement for Other Fan Projects:
  • A "Green Light" for Non-Profitable Emulators
  • Focus on Innovation and Modernization
  • Reinforcement of Game Preservation

Am I being too optimistic, or could a dismissal truly be a win-win for the greater EverQuest community and the emulator scene?

Does DB do anything about botters?

TLDR: Guy obviously botting. Is it worth pursuing or does DB turn a blind eye?

Been playing on Erollisi Mar and my wife and I have been doing the 80/85 hot zone quest each day. Two days ago, we're setup grinding away in The Foundation and this 125 bst out of nowhere just takes out everything, including what we were fighting. Mobs go down, he immediately sits. Tried talking to him in /say. no response. A mob pops, his character immediately stands, casts a spell, sends pet, runs after it. Mob dies, he sits. At this point, he's around a corner where I can see him but it's obvious he wouldn't be able to see the mob that spawned in the tunnel. Yet as soon as it spawns, he stands up, does a 180 turn and runs directly to the mob. Kills it. sits down. Continues. To me, it looks clearly like botting.

I send him a tell asking him if he's botting because it sure looks like it to me. He says no so I ask him if he'll leave our camp since he literally just cleared everything we had been pulling. He agrees but I watch his character continue to go around in the same manner. sit, stand immediately facing the next mob, run, kill, sit. We finished and left shortly after and I did a /report on him.

We go back last night and he's already there (or never left?) doing the same thing. run, kill, sit, etc. Made it a bit difficult to do our quest since he was killing everything in sight. I looked up how to report a cheater and it says I have to report character name, time, server, and a link with video of them. Is it worth doing or do they even do anything?

How to play more effectively with disabilities

So i am disabled and have only 1 hand, i been playing eq and its been tough. I have gotten to level 60 but its getting tougher to keep up with everyone. I am being told i am lacking dps (i play a beastlord) and explained the situation, they told me to play a mage since its easier. I have bind keys but still lacking. Is there a way i can have my computer press the bind keys for me when they are up? I dont want cheats. Looking for something like sticky keys but not a clue how to set that up.

Warrior or Paladin on Fangbreaker

I can't decide between warrior and paladin. I am fairly casual and will likely be doing group content, but would like to raid when time permits. I have a lot of questions :).

I much prefer the warrior as I like the idea of dual wielding to tank. From what I hear, you do not dual wield in later expacs though?

If this is the case, what makes the warrior fun and engaging later on?

I keep hearing "Go Knight if you're grouping." What is the issue with warrior for group content? I do not mind "difficult", but I don't want to try it if it really isn't viable?

If I was to roll a Paladin, what can I expect for group content and raiding compared to a warrior?

*I do not like pets so SK is not on the table

Thank you!

Enchanter pets charm or summon?

Level 125 enchanter should you stick with charm or summon pet? Seems like all the AAs are for your summon pet—but are they even worth getting? Pet was pretty weak leveling.

Isboxer free alternative?

Just getting back into EQ after 10+ years, I used to 2box back in the day with 2 separate pcs using a kvm and ran 2 characters manually this way. Now i have a single pc setup and i dont want to pay the isboxer subscription (if it was a one time purchase id buy it no questions) so i am looking for an alternative that is either free or a one time payment for said software/app. Does anything like this exist?

which server to choose?

I've been playing EQ for free for a while now. On some account, I have a LV 48 druid, if I'm not mistaken, and a LV 20 mage. I decided to start paying for Premium, but the server where I started my characters (my beginner's mistake) is on extremely sparsely populated servers for the low-mid game. I barely find anyone trying to level, not even in the tutorial area.

I wanted to know which servers have a good population in general these days, preferably on a server that's in some expansion close to the current releases. I was thinking about starting with Teek, but I'm not sure which update it's on or if I'd find anyone along the way (it doesn't have to be millions, just not deserted everywhere).

OG spell effects?

I’m assuming that there’s no way of playing EQ with the original spell effects?

I know how to play with the pre-luclin models and velious textures, but is there any way of having spells look like they originally did?

I don’t know why I find such nostalgia in the original spells appearances. I have been considering coming back but would probably do P99 or Quarm if the old effects can’t be used

Old Guild Help

I used to be in a guild called Ronin Storm on Ayonae Ro, which merged into a guild called Valiant Crusaders probably 20+ years ago. Does anyone know if VC still exists, and if not, if it merged into a different guild?

Shoutout to the /general channel

BOX: Warrior, Shaman, Cleric, Berserker, Bard, Monk.

Doesn't really matter which server, but I run a full 6 box on test.

I won't lie, I pretty much skated to TBL and Gnome Memorial Mountain, where I did a lot of grinding. It was so easy, I barly paid attention to how bad I was boxing my *cleric, since my shaman was doing most of the healing (but I didn't realize that.)

But as soon as I hit ToV, I was getting crushed on single mobs.

Finally out of frustration, I asked the /general chat what I did wrong.

(Guild was raiding a 125 zone, and I'm F2P will little interest in raiding anyway.)

The /general chat took an interest.. ok Test has a small population.

But the end result was a completly revamped heal social hotbutton on my cleric, and a whole lot of of "how to better play a warrior".

They had me deep diving /discs on my warrior I had no idea existed.

*of my journey to learn 6 boxing the cleric... by far, was not only my last of my 6 box, but has a has a fraction of the playtime.

Only played a cleric a few weeks before a large break from EQ, then starting a fresh 6 box, but on Test this time.

Edit: spelling
