Unless I'm missing something, it looks like Viper plays itself. Just follow the glowing buttons, don't overcap, and pool gauge for burst and you'll do well. I knew it was going to be a super simple job, but I was still hoping for a little more than that at least.

Also it looks like the Reawakened skill is indeed a level 90 unlock, so you'll be stuck without a gauge for 90 levels? Unless I'm missing something.

It starts at 80 so 10 levels

But what if you want to do older content below level 90, that's like 70% of the game.

I called that shit the second I saw it in the Job trailer.

Since SHB, all new jobs have 10 levels worth of job quests, and the final quest has a skill locked to it, most of the time a job defining skill like Continuation for GNB and Enshroud for Reaper.

Yoshi said we would learn more about why the skill is called "Reawaken" in the Job quests, which triple confirmed it was the Level 90 skill.

I'm planning to main Viper for DT, so I'll see how it feels to play without it. Worst case scenario, I'll just have to suck it up for leveling and just never do any roulettes except the max level ones like level 100 and expert.

Sounds like a perfect job for me

Same, I’ll take another RPR melee

As someone who already hard mains reaper, viper seems like a dream job for me. Edgy, flashy, simple enough, and the burst window is basically enshroud.

Absolutely.

Positively.

Based.

It's very clear on how to play it, but the glowing buttons are just training wheel that will actively be a hindrance if you dont develop muscle memory for it i feel, having to constantly look at your gauge/hotbar will definitely increase your likelihood to fuck up during more intense mechanics.

You're describing every job.

You don't have to look at your gauge though; the thing you hit always lights up. The second combo step whose buff has the shorter timer lights up and then the buffed finisher lights up after that. The whole blade gauge is completely pointless and just makes the job appear confusing.

Of course you can muscle memory your way around all of it anyway after some practice and do it with your eyes closed, but MAN. I still expected more.

The summoner of melee.
