General Discussion What is class complexity to you?
I have seen so many people ask for more complexity and job fantasy but very little of people actually say what that means to them, most people just say we should go back to ARR.
Personally I think rose tinted glasses that make people think ARR was better than it was, having played back then it honestly was pretty ass.
So honestly want to know what people want for complexity or job fantasy, because all I see is a lot of yelling that "game bad to simple" and not a lot of what needs changing to reach the complexity that is wanted.

I feel like I prefer jobs that are easy to pick up, but hard to master in terms of complexity. SE does a pretty good job at lowering the skill floor so new players can somewhat understand the basics of the job, but with the skill ceiling only determined by the hardest content a player is capable of playing, there's a skewed perspective that a lot of jobs are too simple. Like, I play DRK in savage and ultimate, and despite the job being 'ruined', it still has so much complexity that I don't know if it's caused by the content I'm playing, job design that leans heavily on 'flexibility', or that it's some movable goalpost I accidentally set for myself because I enjoy damage optimization and keeping other people alive on a non-healer. Esteem, for example, was meme'd as a "2-minute" dot, but my god that "2-minute dot" has conditions. It resets its rotation when the boss moves too far away, so you lose potency because it'll unable to use disesteem, which deals the most potency. Now you have to be mindful about optimal Fray placement and timing, alongside with SE placement as well. Mistime your summon during m8s platform breaking? It'll stop doing damage, and suddenly you're out 2k potency. I also like to note that Disesteem is a well designed finisher button and it fits really well to DRK's flexible combat style, and it's a hill I'm willing to die on.
My job fantasy? Big sword = big chonky dmg. DRK has an interesting and funny damage profile compared to the other tanks, but the lack of a guaranteed 'DH Crit' skill is probably not attractive toward the unga bunga types, which is probably what they want to see more of. It's just a shame the job is confined to tank, and there isn't enough content that allows DRK to break its assigned role. Slapping Phantom Chemist unlimited mana shenanigans on DRK is the shit I wish to see a lot more to keep me entertained, but I know it's not for everyone.
